Nearly no head and certainly no lace. Not surprising for the style, although it is far more stark than most. The color is a muddy, dark brown where light passes through the edges easily.

Smells like Marichino cherries, in a word, sweet. Reminds me of a Kriek without Amy sourness. Different and appealing.

Initially, it starts off rather dry but within a second the Kriek takes over. I find this beer to be very interesting--it doesn't fit the Barley Wine profile as much as the Lambic one, even though there is no sourness or yeast bite. Still, the combination of the two styles is very appealing.
