A: The beer pours a pale golden color with blueberries floating in the glass underneath the white head.

S: Big time blueberry aroma, a bit like blueberry pancakes. That's really pretty much it for the aroma. Very simple and quite sweet, but unmistakeably blueberry.

T: Essentially the same story on the palate. There is just a touch of sweet malt and bread. But otherwise, it's tons of blueberry and blueberry pancake flavor.

M: Light in body with medium carbonation.

O: A guilty pleasure of sorts. It's pretty simple, it's definitely artificial, but it tastes good.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a pale yellow color, with a thin white head that fades quickly and leaves a very thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains blueberries, light caramelized malts and a faint touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out with a sweet blueberry flavor that isn't overly strong. Then a thin but complementary malt character comes in along with background flavors of caramel and citrus. The hops presence is mild but brings some balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

D: A little tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, very mild kick, good representation of style, there are others in the style that are better but it's still a decent beer.Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

Pours a clear gold with a slight brown tint. Nose is very strong with a smooth blueberry influence. Flavor is slightly bitter with an edge of the blueberries. The berries seem to hit you more at the end. Feel has a good level of carbonation and an above average liquid feel. Very drinkable. The bitter edge detracts from the overall drinkability, but the smooth and very natural blueberry flavor really make this a great blueberry ale. I am always on my never-ending quest to find the greatest blueberry beer and this one is definitely up there.

Pours with a mild haze to an otherwise straw colored beer. Not much head and it dies to a thin rim of bubbles along the glass. Almost no lace

Slightly sour smell with some definitive blueberry aroma. Little else to the nose.

More sourness on the tongue. I also detect biting ginger. It has the body of a pilsner with a corresponding crispness. This is flavorful but not that special.

First off they dump a score of blueberries in the glass before they pour the beer over it. This induces a rocky head as the carbonation has more surface area. It’s a light brassy coloured ale.

Smells and tastes of mild blueberry, light bodied with a pale malt palate and a small but ample hop bitterness. Slightly dry though the blueberries add a drop of sweetness. Very drinkable though the blueberries are there to swallow whole … choking factor is low but looking like an idiot trying to get every little berry out of the glass does.

My wife managed to get the rest of the berries our with her pumpkin ale …

Not a big blueberry beer fan, but I liked the Boston Beer Works beers at the brewery, so hopefully the bottled ones are OK.

A: Pours a light fluffy head that fades quickly, reminiscent of a soft drink. Crystal clear pale yellow color.

N: Blueberries were pouring out and I could smell it as I poured it from a few feet away. Lots of fresh blueberry aroma, almost as if a bartender snuck in here and put frozen strawberries in it. Very light crisp ale aromas in the background.

T: Somewhat a golden ale taste, with crisp ale flavors, light malts, and again lots of blueberry. If you like the frozen blueberries, this beer is perfect. It even appeals to me slightly. Juicy blueberry flavor. Pretty light, crisp and refreshing, would be a great summer beer.

M: Lighter body, decent carbonation.

F: FInishes semi dry with some crisp ale flavors, and a slight lingering blueberry. Otherwise it finishes quickly and leaves the mouth ready for more. A good ballpark beer too.

Had on 3/11/11.

I've had blueberry ales before and usually, they're run of the mill. That being said, I decided to try this anyway.

Color is accentuated by real blueberries, which lend a blue-ish hue.

Aroma is full of blueberry with only slight hints of pale malt and hops underneath.

A mix of hops and blueberry greet the palate. Just a bit of sweet, buttery malt.

Coats the throat, leaving a good hint of blueberry on the throat. Not much else to write about.

An interesting light, refreshing blueberry ale, good for those who aren't usually inclined to drink beer.

Sample at Beer Works Fenway: As with the Watermelon Ale, this brewer makes up for weak Fruit beers with originality. This beer is served with a fairly substantial amount of fresh blueberries in it. The effect is similar to a lava lamp as they ride the bubbles to the top and sink down again. The beer itself is a pale golden color with a minimal white head and very little lacing. Blueberry aroma. Light body with a tart blueberry flavor along with a bit of wheat. The finish is fruity and sweet. Not a great beer by any stretch, but fun to watch.

Served with a dollop of fresh blueberries, before the beer is poured onto them, this leads to a beer that is literally a huge galloping golden bubbling mass. The uneven extra surface of the berries is a haven for the molecules of dissolved Carbon Dioxide and entices a phase transfer to lure them out of solution. For this reason, the Bluebeery Wheat Beer is the most striking of all of the beers served at the Boston Beer Works in Canal Street, Boston. A light golden body contains a mass of imperfect spheroids that raise and sink as the carbon dioxide slowly clings to the berries surface at the bottom of the glass, and alters their buoyancy. Once lifted to the surface of the beer, a release of bubbles renders the berries heavier than its supporting fluidic environs and it slowly sinks again. The constant psychotic rotation of the turbulent rabbit droppings can make you dizzy at times and lead to partial hypnosis, at one point I thought I was drinking a nice beer, but when I was snapped out of my trance by fellow BA neo06051, I realized that it was a sickly sweet offering that I found hard to drink and overtly sickly.
Something different, and worth a try once, at least if you like the sweeter beers.
Not bad, or awful, but just not for me.

Hmmm… still not sure what this is like?
Well it’s like drinking a sweet lager full of purple M&M’s and sheep shit.

I had this on tap into a pint glass at the Fenway park location.

The beer pours a light gold that is fairly clear with a hint of pink to it that I think comes from the addition of real blueberries that float througout the glass. The head is white and creamy and laced with purple pieces of the berries.

The aroma is light with a combo of skunk and berries.

The taste is ok not much blueberry to it at all though. Its almost kind of skunky as well.

The biggest distraction on the taste is the feel. It was way overcarbonted. The whole time it reminded me of drinking a french carbonated drink.

The bartender told me this was the most popular beer, I don't see how.

I had this on tap at the Fenway Park brewpub. I ordered it after seeing other people drinking something with floating rabbit turds in it, and wondering if I could do the same. Let's break it down:
The appearance was interesting enough to score a 4, with maybe 20 blueberries floating up and down in the golden beer. The smell and taste were ugly though, intense sweet flavors like Booberry cereal. The mouthfeel was a little thicker than the sugary beer would best be matched with, and drinkability is low as a result.

The answer to my initial question (could I do the same as the others drinking this beer?) was no.

Poured on-tap at Canal Street, and served in a pint glass. The beer is a bright, pale golden-yellow color with a low profile, quarter-inch, white, foamy, thich head that clings and lingers while you drink. They dropped a spoonful of blueberries into the beer, so there is a ribbon of deep blue coloring down through the middle of the beer. Toasted grain and light blueberry aromas abound, almost like a neighbor is cooking blueberry muffins. Increased carbonation keeps it light and crisp, with slight sour malt flavor and tart fruit sweetness. The aftertaste is musty, with a weak, tangy fruit sweetness, and a filmy, clingy finish. Meh.

Appearance: minimal head, straw yellow in color, slightly hazy, high carbonation

Smell: blueberries and wheat--not an overpowering smell

Taste: wheat, grass--very pilsner like, the blueberries appear in the middle and last to the finish. They are present but not overly strong.

Mouthfeel: medium/light body and moderate carbonation, slightly bitter to borderline harsh at times

Drinkability: A pilsner with a touch of blueberries. Here the fruit is faint. A nice beer post lawn cutting, so long as you don't expect too fruity a fruit beer.

Really looking forward to this beer and I was let down. Came w/ a very light body and just some rather puckered blueberries floating on top w/ some extract floating on the bottom. Obviously I got some blueberry aroma but even that wasn't strong. The blueberries were light in taste and I really didn't pick up anything else - not much sweetness or even a biting crispness or touch of sour to speak of. Just a boring light beer w/ blueberries for lack of a better term. Won't bother getting again.

Presentation: On tap.

Appearance: Shaded gold in colour with a fine white lace.

Smell: A pleasing blueberry aroma takes over the nose.

Taste: Some crisp pale malt and a touch of grain with an even blueberry flavour which has a pinch of tartness. A hint of bitterness from the hops is found.

Notes: One of the finest fruit beers in the Boston area ever brewed. Real fruit was added, no extracts.

Draught @ Fenway: A very nice light, summer beer. The aroma is that of blueberries, no doubt helped by the addition of some blueberries to the beer. The color is a slightly darker, golden color. There is a decent amount of lacing. The beer has amedium to lighter body. Some wheat in there, i think. Actually not too much blueberry taste, except when you chew on a couple of them. It’s always on my list to drink when I go to Fenway Park (across the street!) Adding of the blueberries makes for an interesting taste. A very different presentation, but actually very good!

Clear golden color with a low white head and nice carbonation which keeps the added real blueberries floating up and sinking at random ... Nice real blueberry fruit aroma and flavor with no extract character at all. Light bodied and refreshing. A nice fruit ale !!

Had this ber at the Fens location. 16 oz pint glass. This is by and far my favorite beer brewed by Beer Works. It is also the best blueberry beer on the market in my opinion. The color is a nice golden amber with very minimal head and decent lacing. It's topped off with blueberries that float in the actual beer. The scent is of blueberries (of course) with mild malts and hops. This is a nice light bodied beer, easy to kick several of these back - that is if you like fruitier beer, and lighter body.

Received a clear, bubbly medium yellow pint with a decent white head. Good lacing. They put some blueberries in this one, which stains the head with some purple tinge, and the carbonation makes the berries rise in the glass.

You smell the blueberries, but I can't tell if it is infused in the beer or if it is the berries (in sugar syrup), that they spooned into the pint. I guess I give the benefit of the doubt for what I've been served, and it is definitely blueberry ale. Some brew-like scents in there (pils-like), but this is all fruit.

Mild beer-like qualities of a mild ale with a bunch of shitty over-the-top blueberry fruit flavor. The berry flavor is the real deal (no Boo-Berry elements here), but WTF -- where the hell is the beer? You get some pils-like elements, maybe some grain, but those are watery at best.

Carbonated and lighter-bodied. Good, palate clearing elements.

Not a favorite. A novelty. Easier drinking but you get bored about halfway thru. Worth a try, but you need to be into this type of stuff to really like it.

A- Hazy light orange with a small white cap. The head fizzes out after a short period of time. A small amount of fine lace sticks to the glass.

S- Kind of hard to pick much up but I get slight blueberries atop a malt profile with somewhat of an adjunct feel.

T- Starts pretty fruity with a mix of blueberry and general fruit notes. Finishes fruity and tart. Like blueberry mixed with a sour melted popsicle of random fruit flavor. Light malt and bread notes in there as well.

MF- Light body with high, palate-stinging carbonation. A slight tartness in the finish.

DB- All of the fruit beers with added "natural flavor" come out with the same feel. They cannot replicate beer with a heaping amount of real fruit in the fermentation. This is not very hard to drink but it does have a candy sort of feel to it. A one bottle deal for me.

I've had it a few times when I've been in Boston and finally got around to actually reviewing it.

Pour is a golden color with an amber/orange color, but the best thing is the blueberries they add to it for show where they bounce up and down in the glass.

Smell is a good balance of malt and blueberries with a slight bitterness, although it does lean more towards the sweet blueberries, not as much as other fruit beers I've had.

Taste is more balanced with some bitterness that rolls off the tongue.

One of Beer Works more consistent offerings and can find it there almost every time I go in.

I drank this beer at both the Fenway and Salem locations both times it was great beer. I'll be honest I was a little skepical at first but after I tried it I loved it.

Appearance- It was different to see fruit in the glass but enjoyable.

Smell- Mildly Fruity with a slight hint of hops.

Taste- The same as the smell but not as sweet as you might imagine.

Mouthfeel- Was average.

Drinkability- Very drinkable and smooth

A - Pale wheat gold. Very little head.

S - Pleasant blueberry fruit and bready wheat.

T - Light lemon into malt and an accent of fresh blueberries. The blueberry is light and struggles to push through the malt and citrus.

M - Light body. Medium carbonation.

O - Was way better fresh on tap than in the bottle.

**Note - At brewery this beer is served with fresh blueberries which really adds a lot of fresh berry taste, and really helps raise this beer to a higher level.

Poured from the tap into a pint glass.

The color is orange with two fingers of foamy white head that leaves no lacing left on the glass and has blueberries floating in the glass.

The smell is of blueberries party due to them floating in the beer with a slight wheat and malt aroma. There is even a little hop bitterness there as well.

The taste is sweet with the blueberries coming out a little with some nice malt flavor. There is more of a nice biscuit flavor and some slight wheat flavor.

The feel of this beer is nice and light with a crisp feel that is good for taking it easy and just having a good session ale. The floating blueberries were an interesting feature of this beer but became a nuisance when having to pick blueberries out of my teeth but some may find this a highlight.
