I would have to say this is one of the better bars on 9th Ave, Part of the Penny-Lane Entertainment group (Cowboy's, Chicago Steak House, Penny-Lane Mall)
Good Atmosphere, great times up on the patio, if you get tickets to a party there, Deffinitally go.
Quality was good as well, id have to say typical for a bar down town Calgary
Service- Was nothing special, we where kind of ignored for a while but friendly bar staff
Selection- Tons of beer to choose from, most of the big british and irish stouts, and of course Canadian and calgary favourites (Kokanee, Keith's. Big Rock beers)
Value- as with pretty much every bar downtown, prices are a bit high, paid $5.25 for a pint of Traditional

An interesting review since the wrecking ball went through the walls after Stampede in July. This location was much more authentic than the alternative 2 blocks west that was set up in preparation for the destruction of the mother ship. More UK in feel than the other Penny Lane Entertainment ventures. Rumour is that there will be a new location in the new tower that is being built on the old location. The temporary or secondary location has too much open space and more of a cafeteria/diner feel than the original establishment.

Was in Calgary on business and dropped by this place which was only a block from my hotel.

Very nice feeling to the bar...lots of wook, nice bar location, many tv's turned to sports. I sat at the bar.

The bartender was very attentive and had lots of information. Very nice.

On tap, they had maybe 20 beers. I had some Sleeman's, but they also had Guiness, Stella, Bud light, Bass, etc.

The bartender recommened the Guiness stew and Guines bread...which fit well with the overcast weather. The stew and bread were excellent. I ate the stew with a fork! Seemed to work well with the beer.

Overall, this is a very nice place with good food and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I will certainly consider going back.

I had the opportunity to visit this establishment while on business in Calgary. From what I can tell this pub is on a main entertainment strip (two theaters, multiple other bars and eating eastblishments). We visited here first, and it was pretty full for a Thursday, (second floor had a private party we we first got there). It was a beautiful day and we were able to get a table on the sdewalk/patio. I loved the look of the place. Big center bar dominates the first floor with lots of wood and a worn wood floor. The second floor is just a cool, having a small old pub feel. Never made it to the rooftop patio.

I had been in Calgary for only two days, and the beer was what I was used to seeing in other bars, I was particularly interested in Canadian beers (and not Molson or Labatt). This bar had Okanagan Springs Pale Ale, Alexander Keith's, two beers from Big Rock, Strongbow, ond others, including some macro. In keeping with the Irish pub theme they had Guinness and and an Irish Red Ale Kilkenny (sp?). The beer was good, but I hvae been turned off on the prices, a bit more than what I am ued to paying for a pint, and the exchange rate is not that big.

For food I had the Fish and Chips, very good. My coworkers split an order of the ribs and Guinness Bread. They liked the bread, but not the ribs. The dry "fried" ribs thing is different than what we're used to. The service was great even though they were busy. On this particular Thursday they were having a live "Irish" band. We left for a bucket of beers at Murph's and came back for the music, which was on the second floor. Good music, good beer, good time. I'd love a chance to go back.
