Bottle served in pint glass.
Pours crystal clear, bright yellow. Thin cap forms and sticks around for awhile.
Smells of corn, metal, and a bit of noble hops.
Taste is surprisingly NOT sweet, it almost has a lemon peel zestiness. There even seems to be some hop flavour. And it lingers on the tongue. Wow!
Mouthfeel is about right for the style. Not much more to say.
Drinkability would be damn fine sitting on a hot beach.
A far better choice than a skunked Corona/Heineken or BMC. My expectations were extremely low going in, so I was pleasantly surprised.
I received 2 of these as a gift from someone who was in the DR. I would not go out of my way to track down more, but I could see myself being relatively happy (as opposed to drinking Corona in Mexico) drinking this if I myself was on vacation in the DR.

Bottled poured into a wide flared tumbler, Bohemia Especial is gold with a white head leaving pretty nice lace.
Smell is faint and generic, mostly sweetness.
Taste is very simple and bland, a little sweet, a little vegetative. Some metallic sharpness, not that strong though.
Mouthfeel is dry and crisp.
Drinkability is fine, this is a bland, light bodied dry thirst-quencher. Just a touch off, disjointed.

A - light yellow with some little gold in it. Very clean.
S - pretty much sweet and sugary, however not interesting at all.
T - little malt with sweet flavor, but nothing much more. At least some bitterness at the end.
M - very low body, not complex. Medium carbonation at the end but carbonates for a very short time.
D - pretty easy to drink
Overall it is not a good beer but if you're in Dominican republic, you'll probably have not much choices.

12 oz bottle. Pours golden, with a large, foamy, white head, good lacing. Aroma is of grassy hops, maybe some malt in the background. Light, slightly crisp body. Flavor of hops and biscuit malt, practically no finish. Exceeded my very low expectation.

Pulled from my mini-bar in my hotel room in the Dominican Republic, this poured into my little hotel glass a pale yellow with some fizz that subdued to a slight ring around the glass. Smell is slightly grassy but mostly pretty neutral. Flavor is dominated by hop bitterness and a lingering mild sweetness. Mouthfeel is well carbonated, but still is smooth and rather refreshing provided that this beer is served cold. Drinkability in this state is also pretty good, definitely hits the spot in this weather.
I had this last night when it was not adequately chilled and it was not that great. However Chilled it's pretty drinkable and not bad at all. This being one of only two options on this resort, it certainly could be a lot worse.

Poured from a 12oz brown bottle.
A - pale yellow color with decent head, about two-three fingers and bubbly. Discipates quickly into a very thin lace, not much lacing on the glass. Spritzy carbanation at first that calms as the beer sits.
S - Light pale malt with perhaps a hint of citrus, maybe lime? Very faint. Similar to a Corona, or better yet a Presidente
T - Pale malt at first with that corn mash aftertaste. Not complex at all, but with a hop bitterness at the end, light.
M - Higher carbonation at the beginning and it filters out towards the end. Gets almost flat at the end of the glass.
A classic example of a caribbean beer. Tastes almost exactly like a Presidente but with just a little more malt in the background.

Pours straw yellow with a thin head that descends to a patch then disappears. Typical of the style.
The smell is of sweet grain and cane sugar. Slight whiff of something I couldn't quite put a finger on that was neither pleasing nor unpleasing.
This one is surprisingly okay - pretty non-descript - but has a sweet malt with enough balancing it out, although it's probably more adjuncts than hops (noticeable hops anyway). Well, I wasn't expecting much and it's better than Presidente and Quesqueya (the other offerings on the Dom. Rep.)
It's okay. It hit the spot in the heat in Punta Cana as it was not overly fizzy and had an inoffensive taste.

Thanks Mark for bringing back. Underrated, this had a pleasant, slightly grassy and malty aroma. Only a bit of hop,or carbonation but lots of cream and lace. Kind of sweet for a pilsner. Easy mouthfeel and drink.A popular destination so this gets reviewed more than it should.

Had a 330ml bottle brought back for me from the Dominican, green glass led to a little skunking! But trying to ignore that, this seemed like your typical pale lager. But to its credit I thought I could taste some pilsner malt which blended in nicely. No hops, but certainly some malt for sure. Carbonation low, texture slightly offset. Yea, no surprises here, Im sure I would have enjoyed it more could if they brought me back some of the sun and warm weather of the Dominican to go with it!

Pours a gold straw color wirg a pathetic head and too little lace. The aroma is of barley malt, corn and leafy noble hops. The corn is more pronounced in the taste than the aroma. Delicate malt mingles with very light hops behind the corn. The mouthfeel is thin and a bit metallic. The finish is herbal and not very bitter.
This is only slightly tastier than a Canadian macro. I guess it would be good in a hot tropical climate, but the corn taste is too strong. Not worth seeking out.

A 12-oz. long neck carried over by a friend who was at the dominican.
Clear golden/straw color, small white head that does not stay or lace.
First surprise comes with the first sniff - where are the adjucts?
They're there but well hidden behind a soft malty aroma.
This trend pleasantly continues with the first sip. A very well balanced mixture of adjucts and malt and even the hops are there! how lovely.
who would have expected? nicely carbonated and goes down smoothly.
Very mild hints of fruits.
This one is quite drinkable. Far better than other central-american brews
including "brother" Presidente.
Probably the best adjuct/macro i've had. not bad at all.

I liked this beer, it was the typical yellow fizzy piss. It did have a small malt backbone that helps the taste, no hop presence but I wasn't expecting one. A very easy drinking Pislner and pretty clean too. A good beer too drink during a hot afternoon and at a price cheaper than Presidente it could not be better.

Appearance-golden off color with minimal head and lacing, ok clarity.
Smell-normal adjunct stuff like corn and grain with a weird sour kick that wasn't very pleasent at all.
Taste-very thin, grainy on the toungue, goes down easily but with no more flavor than any American adjunct lager of the same type.
Mouthfeel-thin but pleasent enough, not too much going down in the first place.
Drinkability-while any lager on the hot beautiful days in the Dominican Republic will work, if faced with the choice stick with Presidente.
Overall-while I heard from some that this stuff is better than Presidente, the one I sampled was very dissapointing and not even close to Presidente, which isn't exactly the king of all beers itself. Pass on this one, if your in the D.R. stick to Presidente, if your anywhere else, stick with something else, as there are way too many beers of the same type that outrank this.

Appears to but another piss/straw yellow pilsner, very clear. The smell was quite unassuming. Only with deep inhilation could one trully smell anything, and then the smell was very stale. The taste was sweet but was interrupted by the almost over carbonation. Again with the carbonation so high, the moth feel was "bubbly" and slightly sticky sweet - this is beer not champagne, right? Some how this beer still turns out to be quite drinkable once you become used to it's "style". Or maybe it was only enjoyable after one too many Cuba Libres?
