Brown bottle with an evil looking, winged monkey. No freshness date but a not so reassuring "Always Fresh" is printed on the label.

A - Incredibly clear and light amber. A big, white head that dies very quickly but leaves behind a great trail of foam as it descends along the sides of the glass.

S - A delicate aroma of sweet malt and not much else.

T & M - Light bodied with a little carbonation tickle. Rather thin really. The taste is somewhat sweet with a hint of caramel but no complexity at all.

D - This beer looks good, but in all other aspects is rather average if not disappointing. Not something I will buy again.

Pours a clear, copper color. 1/5 inch head of an off-white color. Slight retention and slight lacing. Smells of pale malt, slight sweet malt, hint of roasted malt, hint of caramel malt, hint of hop, and a hint of grass. Fits the style of an American Amber / Red Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, slight pale malt, slight hop, and a hint of roasted malt. Overall, average appearance, aroma, and body.

Poured into a standard pint glass. The beer is a light brown-amber color. A light cream colored head dissipates to a fine film with good sticky lacing. The beer smells bready and of malts. The beer tastes bready, doughy, and malty. It's a very mild taste and very drinkable. There's a slightly hoppy finish. The mouthfeel is medium to light bodied, very drinkable.

Overall, not the best amber ale around, but a sentimental home-state favorite. Very easy drinking.

Clear filtered golden body a touch close to amber. Not very much head, but decent retention with the little available.

Crisp aroma, very grainy malt & sweet caramel.

Not much here. A light sweet grainy malt character, just a touch of hops and by touch i mean it, not much more than your standard BMC.

It is nice and refreshing. I know my scores won't really reflect it, but I don't dislike this beer. If you're in the mood for something light and refreshing, but want something with a touch of good grainy sweetness this beer can really hit the spot.

Bought this 4 months ago in Wisconsin, lets see how it held up. You get one inch of light tan head that fades fast leaving just a skim and a quarter inch of lace. Body is a very light honey tone. Nose is soft but has tones of minerals and nutty rustic tones, very standard for the style. Taste is very thin and a bit watered down. The same dose of minerals and woodsy nuttieness is there although somewhat soft. Flavor profile is a bit weak. Mouthfeel is a little carmelized and slightly thick. Not bad drinkability at all.

Pours a darker gold with very little head on top. Retention is lacking as is any sort of lacing or webbing. Smells of corn, biscuits, and vegetation. Reminds me of a lager...

Mouthfeel is nice and crisp which aids drinkability. Flavor is of buttered corn, malty breads, and finishes slightly bitter. Is this really an Amber Ale? Everything about this tells me this is a lager. Weird. Drinkability is surprisingly high. It's a good thirst-quencher.

This beer gets low scores by my judging it according to style. As an "Amber," this is horrible, but as a "beer" this is actually pretty good. If this was labelled as a lager, my scores would be much higher. Get your styles right, Flying Monkey!

Thanks to DrDogbeer for sending this my way in a BIF.

A - Poured a light amber color with a thin white head no lacing

S - Is faint but theres some caramel malt

T - Starts with the sweet caramel malt then finishes with bitter hops that clash with the taste

M - This beer has a thin watery body with medium carbonation to it

D - Not a beer that I'll be seeking out again the taste clashes with itself to not make it a very good beer

Pours a clear light copper color with a small quickly dissipating head. Smells of light malts and adjunct cereals. First sip is very light and lacking in flavor. The flavor is good...just not enough of it. Mouthfeel is poor as it is under carbonated. There is an off flavor here too.

Poured into a pint glass.

A-Poured a lightish amber beer, very clear. Poured no head, only minimal bubbles, which quicly reduced to nothing.

S-Mostly aromas of nutty and sweetish maltiness. Some spiciness. Overall, a clean aroma, though less than would be desireable.

T-Light flavor of toasted malts with some light nuttiness mingling. Minimal hop bitterness is the background, balanced by a slight sweetness. Finishes clean with a slight overlapping bitterness.

M-A too-thin body with low-moderate carbonation. Feels too watery over my palate.

D-Low. Not a beer that I'll be missing when I'm out of it. However, this one would make a reasonably decent session beer, as it's thin body and light flavor makes it easy to drink.

Big thanks goes out to a certain kind BA who sent me this bottle, just to help me knock another state off my list. Twelve ounce bottle was served cold, right out of the fridge and poured into a pint glass. Consumed on 11/26/2008.

This one poured out a nice and lightly hazed amber color. Some carbonation was visible streaming up from the bottom of the glass and this formed into a nice sized white head on the top of the glass. Some settling produced a nice looking lacing on the sides.

The aroma was nice, a touch light but what was there was very pleasing. Rich notes of bready malts, and a touch of light hops dancing throughout. Carried over well into the flavor. Nice light touches of hops that punctuated a mostly malty red ale. Smooth carbonation and a not too heavy profile led to this being a nice and very sessionable little ale.

Overall not bad at all. A quality little beer that I would have no issue with trying again any day. Glad I got a chance to try this one.

Flying Monkey- Amber

Thanks to hwwty4 for this 1.

A- Light copper orange with a decent frothy head. Light lacing on the upper rim.
S- Caramel malt with light cracked dry grain.
T- Light and sweet caramel malt with a bit of cracked pepper and poppy seed.
M- Very light and sweet up front with a dry body and slight floral hop presence in the end.

Overall- A bit too light but definitely refreshing on a hot humid day.
(Thanks Bill!)

Cloudy copper color , off white , fluffy head that left quickly
some lacing but not much.

Aroma is sweet , malt with a little caramel , the sweetness seemed to stand out.

Tasted how you would expect from the smell , malty sweet taste.
slight bitter after taste but what you might expect doesn't linger.

Not out standing but very drinkable. would drink again if it was there.

Appearance: Pours a clear, thin-looking amber body with a wispy, white head.

Smell: Grainy, light caramel aroma with and a hint of apple-scented cardboard.

Taste: Vague maltiness, little sweetness, and not much in the way of hops or bitterness. However, you are treated to tastes of cardboard and acidic apple juice. Oddly caustic finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: Pretty poor amber. I can't see any reason to give this one a try.

Pours a nice amber color and pretty cloudy. Has a thin white head.

Smell is sweet, there is a light hop spiciness and some citrus notes.

Taste is ok, but lacks flavor. There are some citrus notes and kind of an odd finish that I can only compare to "iced tea"

Pretty smooth, and not a horrible beer. I've definitely had better though. I'm starting to wonder if my bottle was a little dated.
