Looks gorgeous when being poured forming a quick mocha head which sadly disappears pretty quickly. Dark brown black with very fine lines of red at the bottom of the glass.Bubbles cling to the inside of the glass though they disappear quickly. Lovely alcoholic brandy rum brown sugar nose.
Molasses thick heavy treacley silky brown to black body. Thick, rich, more stouty than old ale with a chewy syruppy body. Heavy and intense needing balance.
Would have been great if there was some head retention. Still likeable but less than the sum of its parts. Probably should have saved it for Christmas. Probably should have split the 660ml bottle with 'Wild Thing' but its the price he paid for going to football.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color ale with a small light brown foamy head with OK retention. Aroma of black chocolate and caramelized marshmallow is quite unique and interesting. Taste is malt heavy with notes of lightly caramelized marshmallow with some black chocolate and some roasted malt. Body is about average with a light creamy texture with some good carbonation. Interesting beer that doesn’t really fit into one style in particular.

A solid chocolate fudge brown, with almost no head - but that's par for the course for the style. The smell is big on chocolate, but it's also got boatloads of cider brandy, like a nice, rich, apple-tinged truffle. The flavor is vinous and full of grapes, and there is a distinctly deep brandy character to it that matches the malts' espresso, licorice, chocolate, cola, and rum characters perfectly. There aren't a lot of beers out there where the barrel aging seems integral and not supplemental, but this is one of them. A wonderfully wintry, complex ale, with just enough carbonation to keep this on the drinkable side of rich.
