Tasted On: 10-23-2012
Freshness: Bottled on 10-03-2012
Packaging: 750 ml brown bottle, pry-cap
Glassware: Yazoo tulip pint
Purchased: Single from the Yazoo taproom

I picked this up as part of Yazoo's celebration of their 9th anniversary -- happy birthday Yazoo!

Pours a rich and clear copper color, capped by a nice off-white head a couple of fingers high. Lots of sticky lace is left in the glass and retention is also very good. The aromas highlight the local hops picked for this fresh-hop ale, with big citrus and pine notes. Smells also include a freshly cut grass presence.

The taste starts with a zesty hop bite, very fresh, but also shows a nice malt backbone as well for balance. The bitterness seems to tone down a bit as the beer warms closer to room temperatures. The mouthfeel is clean and medium in body. Carbonation is in the medium to high range. Finishes dry and hoppy.

Overall this is a splendid fresh-hop ale from Yazoo. I liked the taste, the cause (raising money for local conservation efforts), and the gorgeous label artwork. Well done!
