Notes:
An authentic example of a Bavarian Hefeweizen. “Hefe” means cloudy or yeasty and “weizen” means wheat. This beer is made with mostly wheat and uses a true Hefeweizen yeast that gives it a fruity, banana aroma with just a hint of cloves. The tart finish makes this the perfect summer beer.

A decent hefe.
Nose is citrus, a bit lemony.
First sip is tart, highly carbonated, and there's a hint of banana and clove there, but not as much as I'd like.
Solid hefe though... one of the best American offerings...
It's official.. the hop project beers remain my favorites from this brewery... and I'm not even really a hophead.
Worth trying, and the price is right, but I won't revisit it too much with the competition in this style that I have access too. For 3 bux more I coulda bought a 6 of Hacker-Pschorr, and probably should of.
This one is alright on spice... not enough clove, not enough viscosity, not enough of anything really(except for car and its a bit overdone). Well made, but not world class or original.
Let's face it... the Americans haven't figured this one out yet... GRANTED THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST ATTEMPTS I've tasted... Yazoo is something that I can get within a week of it's bottling - so I'm a little biased here... and this is a very drinkable offering... not nearly as complex or to the unfiltered quality standards of say Schneider-Weiss or other German offerings of that caliber... but hey... at least we improved upon the stout... best american Hefe imo... or for what I've had which is only about 20-25 different offerings... worth a try for sure.

Had on tap at Jim'Nick's BBQ in Murfreesboro,TN.Came in a standard pint glass a dull hazed medium golden with a thinner white head atop, knowing it wasn't in the proper glassware kept the score from going lower on the appearance.clove and banana aromas stood out most and they were pretty assertive, light toasted wheat underneath.alighter feel in the mouth but it made the beer go down even easier than many of the style.Banana and yeasy phenol flavors with a refreshing little lemony twang in the finish wich gave it a little complexity. Not a bad beer, not a style i go to very often but Iam sure it beats the TN heat in the summer.

Bottle purchased from Frugal Mcdougal's, Nashville, TN. Poured into Pint Glass
As an avid Hefe drinker, this is a damn good beer. Does it taste like it's German counterparts? No. It is most definitely an american hefeweizen, but a damn good one at that. I would put it second behind only SN's Kellerweis as the best American Hefe i've had.
Looks like a normal hefe, unfiltered with nice yeast suspension. nice white head.
Smells like a typical hefe, heavier on the banana presence than a German one, and also some citrus and heavy coriander notes.
The taste is extremely banana heavy, more so than any other Hefe i've had. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, I personally love the taste of this beer, but it is pretty unique when you compare them to almost any other Hefeweizen, German or American. Taste is sweet and short, doesn't really last long, as it's a little watery, but it's still balanced pretty decent. Somewhere in the middle I also was getting some subtle vanilla and citrus notes. Basically this tastes like what you would expect a "light" hefe to taste like, with extra banana. It's very drinkable, and very refreshing as are most wheat beers.
Overall I would buy this again, as I like supporting local breweries. Living in Nashville, I can get this as fresh as you can possibly get... which is pretty important considering how fast wheat beers go sour. This is a very unique hefe, I found it rather enjoyable in it's own way, but not a solid representation of the style. If you really want to experience what a true Hefeweizen tastes like, start with a Weihenstephaner, and from there expand to Franziskaner, Paulaner, and even Ardinger.
