Yeah! Grand Duc!
One of the best beer dépanneur and one of the first I used to go. Let me explain, for those who don't know what is a dépanneur.
A dépanneur is a place open usually late (23h) and sells cigarettes, bread, milk, magasine,candy..and beer. the basic stuff.

But this grand-duc, is specialized is Québec brews and it got a large selection of beer.
Pretty much all the good beer brews in Québec are sell there.

So it make this dépanneur unique and enjoyable for beer lovers.

Situated on the south shore of Montréal.

Rock on!!

I've been a couple of times so this review is a general one & not of one specific visit.
This depanneur is located in a residential sector of Longueuil, off of Roland-Therrien. Very nice & quiet area.
When you enter, every thing is neat & organized. Beer section is in the back to the left. There's a small cooler with some beers & to the left, some large shelves filled with single bottles. There's also a rack with other singles as well as packs of beer.
Service is top notch. Just the other day, i notcied on their website they had Bieropholie Imperial Stout. Owner said he was going to taste it to see if it was still good & tell me so i don't come down for nothing. Big help!
They also give you the space but are well informed if you need to ask questions. Selection, they pretty much have anything available to the Quebec market & some i haven't seen anywhere (Azimut). Their website also tells you what's in stock, which is great when you need to plan a beer run.
Next to Joanette, this is the best place (IMHO) for beer in the Montreal region.

I took up Goldenrack's recommendation on a quick pass through Montreal on my way back from Vermont. This worked for me because I was in the South part of town. It would also work if I was downtown. The owner appeared knowledgeable about beer and tries his best language-wise. However, several of his suggetsions backfired. I particulary liked that he brought me the beers I wanted that were not yet refrigerated, I find few stores willingto do that for so many singles. Very organized, neat store. Reasonable to find, but this suburb is big. As good a selection of Quebec as anywhere else.

Another stop on the south shore of Montréal, this place was also highly recommended.

Another convenience type store, a few streets off the major arteries. Cool graffiti mural on the outside wall...

Glassware from all over the world are displayed on shelves all around the store. The ones with pink dots on them are not for sale. Too bad, some of them were really nice! The old Dow glass kicked ass...They seem to be in cahoots with Marché Lavigne on the other side of town, because the glassware selection is pretty much the same.

I give this place the extra 0.5 points for selection, they seemed a bit more up to date than Lavigne, having the new brews from Multi-brasses and a still had a few McAuslan vintages left, as well as the Unibroue gift packs with the framed pictures. Quality isn't as good, Beers are placed in no real order and can be hard to find.

Jean-Marie, the owner, wasn't there when I visited, but the employees behind the cash knew enough to answer my questions, and were friendly and somewhat chatty.
