First off, this place is a wine store, not a beer store. Because of this the selection is below modest. Maybe a hand full of bombers that included Stone and Chimay that sat right in the sun from the door. They do have a walk in cooler but it is filled with holes and there is hardly more than 2 6pks of any one item.
There were tastings for wine available but no beer. The guy at the counter was nice enough but didn't really know how to field any of my specific questions.
Not a place to go for beer. A decent wine selection though.

Edit with respect to another BA. There are too many holes in the cooler selection. I've asked many times when they will fill in the Victory selection. No answer. They are well stocked with Bell's though. Expedition for $15.99. Clerk said they sell at state minimum but I know that's not right. The brews just inside the door sit in bright sunlight many hours a day. Most are at least in brown bottles but some have been there for many years. I asked about an Alesmith Wee Heavy and was told it had been there for 2 years in the sun. No way. The staff is more familiar with wine than beer so I don't bother asking any more.
Edit as of 10.26.06 The holes in the cooler continue to grow, no Victory, very few Bells. Actually went in last night and found nothing I was interested in. You can just feel the "who cares" attitude when you walk in. The place is going downhill fast, thank god I found a much better retailer who cares about service and selection. If the owner doesn't care, neither do I.
Edit as of 9.19.07 Same holes in the cooler, no new brews despite the owner promising me he would order and call me when things came in. The IGA and Belmont Party Supply have tons of new brews. When I asked the disinterested guy behind the counter why there were no new brews he said it was hard to keep beer in stock. What BS!! They've given up. Don't waste your time.
Edit as of 8.20.08 Hey, at least I'm giving them a chance to improve. No changes from the above reviews. While retailers all around have had a year of adding great beers, Boston's stock hasn't changed at all. They definitely don't sell at state minimum, several beers were priced $1 over other retailers. I just don't get it (you were not brought upon this world to "get it!") Don't think I care enough to do an 09 review.
Edit as of 7.8.10 There's much more beer in my fridge than there is at this place. No wine and maybe a total of 20 bottles of beer. Gotta give the owner credit, still there and writing down what I want him to order for me. How about a Bud?

Steve Boston, the owner, is mainly interested in wine, but has a decent selection of beer to satisfy the beer consumers. I used to live in one of the apartments on the second level of that building, and I have to admit that Id never of thought to go inside of it from the looks of the outside of the building. His sign is old and worn, along with the outside of the building. The inside is also a bit worn down and dusty. Boston used to have a pretty decent selection of both wines and beers, but Ive noticed his stock really declining in the past year. Still, its probably the best (closest) place to go to in North Dayton for decent beers. Make sure you walk inside the cooler though!! Most of his microbrews and imports arent even stocked behind the coolers glass doors.

This place looks very unassuming from the outside. Luckily it's right below the Boston Bistro and Pub so if you see one then you see the other. Walking in right away I saw some nice Belgians and English beers as well as a few German and high end American Micros. Not a huge selection by any means but definitely a high quality one. A warning goes out to watch out for the dust as some of the bottles are quite dusty. Going further there's a large cooler with a number of micros (mostly American). Not a huge selection but once again, high quality. This store is more of a wine store, a high end one even though the appearance would fool you. The owner seemed more interested in helping wine people out than helping me which was offputting, but they were buying expensive wines so I think I just timed my appearance wrongly. All in all, the best store in northern Dayton by far with some very unusual choices.

This is a quiet little store on a corner that has a bar attached to it. Sort of looks like an old office building with 2 stories. Inside is not very modern, old worn carpet, wood paneling, etc.. However, do not be discouraged this is a good stop. First off, The service is better than good. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable. If you have a question, he will give you a good, truthful answer. This is important, because unfortunately good service is hard to come by in this day and age. The selection is good, not outstanding but solid. Near thew front, they have some Belgian beers, bombers of Stone, other larger bottles. Walk inside the cooler for all of the six packs. Good range of beers from Bell's, Pyramid, Dogfish, etc.. I have noticed problems with their suppliers lately. It took almost a month for them to get Anchor OSA, after their original ship date. I don't know that they carry anything that can't be found elsewhere, but for the north side of town, this is the place to go.
