Pours a deep amber red with dark creamy head that clings to the glass and retains across top.

Smells of flowery funk upfront with sweet caramel malts and earthy hops. Some pine sap and dry fruit.

Tastes of butter scotch notes with some bitter hops, dry fruit with grapefruit finish. Long and complex finish with apples, spice and a hint of flower funk.

Overall a good everyday Belgian IPA, approachable and pleasing , will attract a wide audience to good Belgian IPA.

I am pretty sure that this came to me from local, in-person trader, tone77. Many thanks!

From the bottle: "A variation of our 'Loose Cannon' IPA, fermented with a Belgian Dubbel yeast culture - tangy hops with a spicy aroma."; "Another fine mess ...".

I liked the way that this poured, creating two fingers of dense, light-tan head with excellent retention. Color was a deep copper with NE-quality clarity, reminiscent of a shiny, newly minted penny. Nose was big with minty hops; musty, peppery yeast and a bit of alcohol heat. Mouthfeel was surprisingly soft, albeit with a good bit of heat and the flavor was very spicy, as though the hops simply teamed up with the yeast to really bring a bite to my tongue. Finish was extremely dry and moderately hot. Phew! This was quite good for one, but I would not want more than a couple at a time.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a bronze color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is is slightly sweet, some hops. Taste is well balanced hops and malts, a touch of citrus, smooth and easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a bit different, and a quality beer.

Poured into a glass mug.

A: Clear copper with two-finger, white, frothy head that lasted more than a few minutes. Pretty good lacing.

S: Caramel malt and light citrus aromas.

T: Moderate sweetness and light bitterness. More sweet and less hoppy than I was expecting.

M: Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

O: Interesting. This is the first Belgian IPA I've had. Not awesome, but I'll definitely try another.
