Bavarius is a better than average specialty beer bar, considering the other available options in the Moscow metropolitan area.
When I was here, the place was nearly empty. The staff were all very friendly, and were very patient with my limited Russian language skills.
Beer was sort of expensive, but it's Moscow. Get used to it. About a dozen choices, mostly staple German beers, and a few Czech ones. You can order 12oz, 20oz, or a big-ass stein.
Food was traditional, if not a little haphazard in presentation. Again it was a little pricey, but not terrible by Moscow standards.
Worth a shot if you're in the area. I hear they do live music on weekends.

I first went to this place over a year ago, and was not impressed. Reluctantly returned today, and my, what a difference. Instead of ten taps of only mildly interesting German macros, they now offer a total of 12 taps, including two beers brewed for them, two beers from Kloster Andechs and two rare Belgians! Wow! The beers were well kept, and generally served in the proper logo glassware (OK, so my Andechser Spezial Helles was served in an Andechs logo weissbier glass).
The place holds about 120 on two levels. The upstairs looks like a typical German restaurant, with wood everywhere. The downstairs looks more like a mediterranean garden, with stone and cast iron throughout. The waitstaff is all dressed in dirndls and lederhosen. Good German food. The music proved a distraction, however: typical German folk music followed by 70s disco. Imagine Heino followed by KC and the Sunshine Band. The place is a bit pricey, but with so many beers unavailable anywhere else in Moscow, this place has become a must!
