Bottle shared at GRG1313’s tasting.
Pours a clear super dark brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, and vanilla aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa and dark fruit flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that smells better than it tastes in my opinion.

Poured a sizeable head of frothy light brown foam. Colour is jet black. Pretty solid retention and good lacing.
Smell has strong bitter coffee and dark roast malt. Black treacle, straw, dark chocolate. Very roasty to verging on slightly burnt, but really intriguing. Hop bitterness comes across with a bit of earthiness. Some nuttiness, a really nice balance.
Taste has an initial malty caramel sweetness, the strong coffee, with dark fruits. A lot of interaction going on, this is a bit sweet for the style I find. Bitterness is quite mild, some earthy nutty undertones, and a big malty presence to it. Finish is soft, roasty dark malts, some residual sugars. It has a really nice flavour to it, I've had more complex stouts that I prefer though.
Mouthfeel is big and malt, carbonation is quite slight. Drying feel on it, but the sweetness make it really tasty. Alcohol is not aggressive or very noticeable at all, figuring it a bit low for the style. Still has a good body to it, but surprisingly drinkable.
Really tasty stout, and it doesn't seem too big at 7%. Certainly a nice interpretation, I would have preferred a bit more depth and bitterness, but wouldn't turn this down again, one of the more drinkable imperial stouts. Worth trying.

Beer from Sweden? Impossible. Nothing but blondes and cheap furniture come out of Sweden.
A: An aggressive pour gives nothing but cola fizz for a head; lacing and retention almost non-existent. Chocolate brown body with a noticeable wateriness to it: unlike most stouts, it looks like coffee rather than chocolate syrup.
S: All syrup: rich chocolate, buttery caramel, vanilla extract. It’s a dessert beer in fine fashion, with a character like some fine chocolate liqueur. Notes of hickory smoke, black licorice, currant, roasted rye, medicinal booze, and oxidized sherry aromas abound.
T: A thin-bodied, mineral-heavy interpretation of the style. Light milk chocolate body smoothes out with roasted malt bitters, like burnt biscuit and caramelized sugar with splashes of honey flavor. Hops are leafy and tea-like in astringency, a little softer than most imperial stouts, though the water has a mineral taste that cuts as sharp as the hops. Has that same sherry taste as in the nose; a little wet cardboard, even, which makes it hard to finish, unfortunately. Aftertaste is lightly acrid, like skunky hops.
M: Thin and very soft, showing just as much carbonation in the feel as you’d expect from the lack of head. Not lacking, though; it works for this old-world palate.
O: This beer is unique in a lot of ways, sure, but it’s not my style of stout. Enjoyable to a degree, though.

A - Black as night, small tan head leaves fast. Some spotty clingers.
S - Soy sauce, malt.
T - Big malt flavor, soy sauce prevalent. Nice combo. A little chalky.
M - Big, chewy, heavy beer. Balance is ok, not too sweet and not too hoppy.
D - Good to try, but not my favorite.

Poured into a perfect pint.
3.0 A: Black color. Half a finger of frothy tan head. Retention is poor and just a tiny ring of lacing is left.
4.5 S: Like the coffee stout, this is wildly earthy. Mineral, mountain stream water, clay, general woodziness. Supple roast, subtle coffee, plenty of dark chocolate, a touch of caramel. Fairly dry, but not too dry. Really nice nose on this.
4.0 T: Pretty much like the nose, but it doesn't impress me as much. The flavors are less bold than the nose suggest. Still, it's quite tasty. Mineral, mountain water, outdoors. Moderate roast, subtle coffee and chocolate, and a touch of caramel. Again mainly dry with just a touch of balancing sweetness.
3.5 M: Medium body. A little undercarbonated, not as much as the coffee stout though. Light creaminess and super smooth.
4.0 D: Very tasty, earthy beer. I might get a couple more of these. Solid all around.

Very dark brown/black, a tan head that settles quickly leaving little lacing and some curtains.
Burned tones, dark coffee.
Starting with dark bread, burned crust, sweet dark dried fruits, some bitter coffee and dark chocolate.
Medium low carbonation, soft, slightly sticky, a small bitterness.
A decent imperial stout, lacks some sturdiness though.

Pours ebony with 3 fingers of mocha colored head. Good lacing & head retention
S: Coffee & carob, figs
T: Follows the nose, some faint coffee notes as well up front. Leafy hoppyness as this warms, much dryness, hints of cherry & more carob as this warms. Finishes fruitty, a touch woody, & dry
MF: Medium bodied, minimal carbonation, thins out once warm
An alright RIS, nothing special here. First beer from these guys, not too impressed

Look: the beer pours a very black color with a small brown head.
Smell: Roasted malts, coffee, caramel and almonds.
Taste: Creamy chocolate, caramel, coffee and roasted malts. Middle-dry after taste. Very creamy taste and soft for the style.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, very creamy texture, medium carbonation.
Overall: Not a typical Imperial Stout, much more soft and smooth, but very nice

on-tap, akkurat stockholm
2007 vintage
from notes
appearance: served in a goblet, dark oily body, light chocolate cap - decent retention
smell: light sweet chocolate notes, molasses, caramel, light roasted malts
taste: hardly an imperial by international standards - smooth chocolate, light roasted malts, no alcohol, caramel cream, touch of dry coffee. enjoyed this, but wasnt quite what i was expecting from a 2007 imperial stout - no real flare
mouthfeel: very smooth, silky
overall: good
Serving type: on-tap
