Cosmo's is a bit out of the way, located in an old residential neghborhood near old Central High School. They seem to have quite a few regulars. The downstairs has high ceilings and a dark atmosphere. There's a cool small gated outdoor area with two high and long metal tables. Keep an eye out for Matt, a very friendly large dog that I've seen there several times; he likes to go skateboarding with the local 20-somethings.
The food is great and unique, although a bit pricey for dinner. I've always had exceptional service. Beer selection is not bad, they have some microbrews (they had Arcadia Whitsun and IPA last time I was there).

An often overlooked Kalamazoo pub. Located on Vine St, a couple of blocks west of Westnedge in a very old building in a residential area.
The place is divided into the downstairs bar ( O'Duffy's) that is very nice and non-smoking. The bar itself is very old, and very attractive. The upstairs ( Cosmos Cucina ) is the main dining area. The bar serves decent sandwiches and the like, and in the evenings fine meals can be ordered from the upstairs restaurant for consumption in the bar area. The evening meals are very good, somewhat upscale. ( 20$ )
As far as the beer selection, the bottles are only average, and the taps number only around 8. But there is always something quite worthwhile on tap. On my last visit ( 3-10-06 ) Golden Monkey was on tap, and on earlier visits I have had Corsendonk, as well as selections from other worthwhile breweries.
The service has always been quite good, and as I stated earlier the food from the upstairs Cucina is well above average.
A nice place in Kalamazoo for a good meal, and a fine beer.
