From the bottle, it pours a dark ruby brown with a nice thick light tan had that stays for awhile and leaves lacing as you enjoy it. Malt in the nose. Toasted malt in the mouth, along with a slight touch of hops. Nice!

Coming in a 500ml slim brown bottle, filtered; BB 06/2009, served chilled in a pint-size weizen glass.

A: pours a dark russet brown colour with a constant input of moderate fizziness, topped with a rocky beige frothy head just shy of 2 inches thick, lasting pretty well and leaving uneven sheets of lacing behind as it fades out.
S: refreshingly malty, with a lightly dusty note and the healthy sour hint of a well lagered bier coming on a par with roast sweet nuts, dark sugar and a very light hint of black chocolates, which is brought back to life in full swing simply with a gentle swirl... Overall, the aroma profile is balanced, refreshingly light, clear, just decently aromatic without being bold.
T: a rather light-flavoured and effervescent upfront, but the refreshing toasted malts with a light tinge of sour dough and yeastiness are fast ensued and firmly supported by a wave of earthy hop bitterness, before arriving at a dry, powdery hoppy and even rather chewy-bitter finish that is refreshing and thirst-provoking. At times, the roasty, dry-ish palate lingers more like an Irish Dry Stout, and always laced with a mild roast malt aroma.
M&D: although the carbonation comes slightly harsh at first, it does soften down in time as the flavour develops freely on the palate; the dry and bitter part of this beer is especially enjoyable, while the integrated flavour overall is also commendable. All in all, this is a thirst-quenching, "text book" type of Schwarzbier (for me) that has many pleasant elements to offer. Give it a try!
