Walked in here after going to Sunset. It's a liquor store without anyone who talks to customers about beer, but the selection was surprisingly good. If you're in the neighborhood, give it a shot. Some decent selections.

Just moved into JP and Blanchard's was my first stop for craft beer. Have since noticed a few other places which sell including; City Feed & Stonybrook Wine & Spirits.

Not a bad selection of beers from around the country, with a good variety of bombers. Prices were reasonable other than a few oddball expensive 22's. Layout is kind of odd, but I don't really care much.

Customer service seems lacking.

It's plenty serviceable if you're simply looking to pick up some good craft beer and it's nearby. That's it. What else would you expect from a Blanchard's?

I liked the selection this place had. It was pretty standard for most of the craft beers. Didn't really see anything there that I wouldn't find somewhere else that had a decent selection of crafts. Service was horrible. The only person I found to help me was to busy on his cell phone to bother. I wasn't impressed. The store seemed a little messy too. May have been due to the holidays, but still it would hurt to keep things organized. Prices were very reasonable and standard for bombers and sixers.

I don't like this place much at all. The store itself is a little dingy and the worst part is you never get any service. The 5-10 times I have been here I have not once been asked if I need any help. The selection is fine and has all the usual craft selection but nothing special. The prices seem average but certainly not cheap. I would go elsewhere unless you live in JP and don't have a car. I live very close but always go to wine gallery or public house provisions instead as they have a better selection, cleaner stores, and friendly service.

Finally stepped into my first blanchard's this past weekend. Selection was good, as expected. Southern Tier, including the Cuvee Series, Two Brothers, Lost Abbey, Oskar Blues, and a nice selection of belgians as well. Although the selectionwas small enough at the time that I could imagine actually running out of new brews eventually. Eventually. Only saying that I wasn't floored.

I picked up a De Proef Surly Bird and a Two Brothers HopJuice for 22 bucks or so. No idea how that compares price-wise to other stuff in the area but I wasn't too hurt spending $13 on a 750 of De Proef.

I would like to check out the Blanchard's in Allston my next time down and see how it compares.

I've been going in to Blanchard's for a number of years. For the most part has a relatively decent beer selection - Longtrail, Magic Hat, Flying Dog, Sams, Smuttynose, DogFish Head are all basic staples of well stocked at Blanchards.
This past week, I went in and checked out more specialty brews. They had a few Stone (IPA, Arogant Bastard), Rogue, Brooklyn, but they also had some decent options for Moylan's, Middle Ages and a few others that I hadn't seen around this are before.
The prices here are actually beyond reasonable.

Convenient place right off of Centre Street in JP. This is a good place to get beer on a regular basis. This is one of the few beer stores that I have been to in which macro brews are outnumbered by craft and regional brewer selections. Its quite refreshing in that sense.

The place may very well have some of the most friendly staff in the area. While they may not know a lot, they certainly are quick to help you out. I can easily get a manager when I need something answered. For the service industry in Boston, getting a manager who is not rude and annoyed at a question is RARE.

The space for the beer is not very large and is quite cramped compared to the wine and liquor area. The selection isn't stellar (as others have pointed out), but I think they are simply trying to be a local liquor store. Not a magnet for beer aficionados.

This is a very convenient store to have near friends' houses. Dependable, reasonable prices, friendly help.

Last night I went in here looking for a case of DFH 60 Minute IPA. I didn't see any, so I asked one of the two guys standing around in the beer section. He looked around and told me they had ran out. There are usually at least two guys standing around in the beer section ready to answer questions like these, which, although these employees may not know too much about the product, is more than some stores, including some stores with better selections!

They had some other DFH varieties, but I instead chose Smuttynose IPA, who they also had several varieties of. Lots of other local and regional brews such as Concord, Ipswich, Sam Adams, etc. A good deal of Victory brews available here, including Old Horizontal. Enough domestic stuff to keep things interesting. Also they have a rack of Ommegang, Duvel, Chimay and Unibroue. Also, a few of the more usual Samuel Smith offerings. The emphasis in this store is NOT the imports.

Don't go here expecting anything rare or exotic, but they are well-stocked with good beer at good prices. The store, despite being fairly large, has a neighborhood feel, which I appreciate.

This is a good place to stop if you're in the area, but no need to go out of your way. Refer to reviews of Harvest Co-Op to compare the nearest competitor (I haven't been there yet).

Although, the entranceway could use an air freshener, Blanchard's is still my first choice for beer buying. They have a wide selection of styles and brands and usually have something I've been itching to try. There has always been someone available to answer my questions on the different beers, and to give me updates of beer to come. They have the best prices that I have found in Boston, and I have yet to buy an outdated or “skunky” beer from their establishment. There are also fairly common sales on different craft brews. The one problem I have encountered at Blanchard’s is their apparent lack of adequate on hand supply after major holidays and before restocking/shipments. Jamaica Plain is lucky to have such a good source of beer.
