Appearance: Pours a fudge brown color with a modest head that leaves a fair amount of splashy lace behind
Smell: Chocolate, caramel, brown sugar and marshmallow
Taste: Chocolate marshmallow, up front, with a charred tone that develops in the middle; almost a band-aid character that builds into the finish
Mouthfeel: Watery, with moderate carbonation
Overall: Perhaps this was an old bottle (I just bought it yesterday) but it really was not good

22oz bomber with no date. found a dusty bottle on sale for only $2.99. here's hoping it's not skunked out or infected.
i got lucky: not infected, not skunky. beautiful black look with great tan head and retention. smell is lactose sugar and not much more. taste is milky and sweet, with roasted coffee grounds and chocolate. lighter than a stout, but still flavorful.

Moylan's / Chelsea Moylan's Porter
I've enjoyed quite a few of the Moylan's beers...including THIS one. A very nice porter, in fact it is an exceptional porter. I was only able to enjoy HALF of the 22oz bottle because the other half was going into my authentic Texas Chili - which was a hit. The labeled promise of coffee and chocolate was not hyperbole. The coffee accent was not only forefront throughout including the aftertaste - but it even looked like a rich foam topped espresso.
HEAD/MOUTHFEEL: A two-three finger tan head predicted the creaminess - a very stout-ish porter!
POUR: an opaque dark brown with a distinct coffee aroma.
FLAVOR: Deep coffee and a sweet chocolate edge.
I definitely like porters that blur the stout style fence-line.

Pours a very dark brown, almost black. Thin tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate and coffee. Taste begins with an earthy, smokey flavor, followed by some sweetness, and finishing with an herbal, chocolaty finish. Mouthfeel is a bit light. Overall a good porter, the smoke is nice, but there are better examples out there.

Pours an almost opaque super dark brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, and cookie dough. Taste is much the same with a cocoa flavor on the finish. There is a mild amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and very easy to drink.

Serving type is 22oz bottle put into what the box of beer glasses said was the right glass
Dark almost black pour with about a half finger head that is dark brown and dies off super fast and has very little lacing
The smell is outstanding , probally one of the best smelling beers Ive come across, very good roasted barley smell with chocolate and coffee overtones
The taste is ok , Im not a huge porter fan , but as far as porters go this one is on par for the course
Over all not a bad beer , if I was in the mood for a porter again I would purchase this for the price

Poured a deep dark brown with some amber highlights when held to some light,a half finger beige head atop.Deep espresso roast and sharp bitter chocolate in the nose, very earthy and old school.Dry and heavily roasted on the palate, underlying unsweetened chocolate with very mild molasses-like sweetness, again the roast and dryness is the main component of the beer.I think this beer rocks,it's old school and that's cool,I would love to have this on a nitro pour.

There are bottles at Whole Foods Dedham left over from St. Pat's Day 2012 that are on sale for $4.99. Figured I'd give one a shot. Poured into a stemmed glass. Dark brown body with a great head. Nice aroma of chocolate and coffee. Flavor was a touch muted, probably due to age. There was an overly roasted flavor of coffee on my palate, but I did enjoy it. The mouthfeel was a bit on the thin side and also that bitterness lingered for a while. Fairly drinkable though with a very nice ABV. For the price, I enjoyed it. I would like to try this fresh someday to compare.

22 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear dark reddish brown color with a nice 1-2 finger light tan head with good retention that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty glass lacing, with plenty of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, light coffee, roasted malt, toast, nuttiness, and light herbal hops. Nice and well balanced aromas with good strength. Taste of chocolate, caramel coffee, roasted malt, toast, nuttiness, and herbal spiciness. Light herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, chocolate, roasted malt, and herbal hops on the finish for a short bit. Fairly dry on the finish. Nice balance of flavors; but a touch on the watery side and not as robust as some porters I have had in the past. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy mouthfeel. Very smooth to drink; with no alcohol presence at all as expected for 5%. Overall this is a nice, enjoyable, and very drinkable porter.
