Pours a hazy amber. One finger white head. Clumpy lace.

Aromas of pine resin and citrus hops. Dry.

Taste is a dry hop bomb and one dimensional. Needs more malts. Pine resin drives. Merest hint of pineapple. Dryness builds and mrs heygeebee could not finish her share of the bottle. A first!

Mouthfeel is also a tad watery. And almost harsh.

A disappointment overall - too one dimensional and no malt backbone. Gets little less harsh as it warms, but still not a good example.

Terrific beer!
Picked up a bomber at local liquor store that has a nice selection of Crafts. Surprised to see a few Moylan's!
Smells of hops and citrus, has a early hop bomb and smooth finish.
I'm a novice at beer review, but that will change over time.
Very happy with this IPA, wouldn't be my first choice, but will drink again. Especially at $6.

A: Light copper hue with a thin head and good lacing

S: Some grapefruit and other citrus with a touch of pine but a bit subdued; some grainy maltiness underneath, as well as more citrus--especially mango and pineapple

T: Bitterness up front: citrus, grapefruit with just a touch of a medicinal quality; also some sweet bready malts to balance things out

F: Fairly creamy and sticky with a pleasant medium body

O: A nice IPA: sticky, oily, with a welcome bitterness and just enough maltiness to balance things out...a bit

Enjoyed in a pint glass on 10-3-11, this pours a mostly clear, dusty mild copper color. Awesome alluring aroma here that just shouts hops--fresh sweet tropical citrus with notes of lemon, mango and peach. Wooo-ha! That's a palate punch of hops with a solid pine and grapefruit blended bitter feel. A badass representative of the West Coast IPA...This really puts out the flames when it comes to a pairing with my HOT chicken tikka masala.

Poured out a very nice golden amber with a little bit of a haze to it, but nothing terribly dramatic. A good amount of carbonation could be seen streaming up toward the top of the glass, which only served to reinforce the very nice head of foam which had formed at the top immediately upon pour. A nice three inches or so of white pillow like foam was on top now, settling down after a couple of minutes to just a thin film across the top which produced copious amounts of side glass lace on its way down. A nice typical IPA from what I could tell so far.

The aroma was classic hop bomb of an IPA from the first whiff. No, mention of the alcohol what so ever in this one from the aroma through. Lots of fresh citrus hop aromas coming right at you with a delicate balance of bitterness and a touch of sugar as well. Definitely some light sweet notes coming through on it, especially as it warmed up a touch. Very nice feel here, with a rich medium body that was full of carbonation, offering you a very nice creamy feel as it went down, but still staying light enough not to cause a problem with filling. Great flavors were all over this. It was to be honest on the lighter side of the style, but, it came off very well with a rich mixture of grapefruit and orange flavors that hit you off right from the start, but were mellowed down towards the middle to allow a much more balanced flavor to start to breakthrough. Hints of grain were in here now, mingling around and lots of malt sugar, really giving it a nice bit of sweetness and balancing out the hop bitterness very nicely. This was a very well balanced IPA, while still sticking to the classic west coast style all the way. Very cool indeed. The alcohol was so well hidden, this could have been 4% as it was nearly and completely undetectable. This was just an awesome session ale. I could have had this one all night to be honest.

Looks just about perfect for the style. Glowing bronzed orange color, like a sunset, with a glaring white head that is creamy and remains present for the duration. Leaves big splats of lace as it slowly chills out.

Aroma is finely balanced between sweet buttery/caramel-like malt and big herbal hops. Malt actually reminds me of candied popcorn, like Fiddle Faddle or something.

While the taste treads the high wire between hops attack and malt sweetness the same way the aroma does, the hops edge out the malt on the tongue. Considering the style, they ought to. And those hops are big and resiny with equal nods to citrus rind and pine tree branch. A minty flavor reigns in the otherwise bitter and candy-sweet finish.

Without feeling heavy, this has both a creaminess and stickiness that works well to match the aggressive hop profile and carry the candy-like malt sweetness that rides along. Bitter and resiny in a way that inseparably welds flavor to texture, and really helps define the beer. Feel-wise, it's magnificent.

While my description of the taste sounds like the description of a big-ass double IPA, it manages to pack in a lot of flavor without going imperial. The sensible ABV helps with that, and this is basically an all-around excellent, clearly California-fied version of the style. Another fine brew from the typically hop-heavy Moylans.

A-a hazy orange with white head that white
S-very malty. I think age has gotten the best of this one,but I wouldnt know cuz there is no bottle dates
T-malts up front but the hops start to come through once it warms up a bit. Nice bitter aftertaste
M-medium body and smooth. Bitter after taste is only presence of hops
D-ok at best. Would love to try this one fresh.

Hazy orange color with decent white head that leaves a moderate amount of lacing on the glass.

THe nose is malty - like a sourdough bread. There may be a little citrus hops on the nose, but I am not sure if I am just hoping to detect them. The flavor starts off sour, with some juicy malts in the middle, finishing with a harsh hop bitterness.

I have to imagine that this is an old bottle, but there is no way to tell since Moylan's only shows dates on the cases and only individual bottles were available at the store. If I find this on draft, or a bottle of known date, I will revisit this review.

A dark amber color, darker than your average ipa. Smells of hops, cascade possibly. Both piney and citrusy.

Caramel color and malt dominate this one. Well, from the malt side, the hops are clearly getting top billing in this beer, but its neither a wallflower nor an extreme beast. Moylan's makes solid stuff, this ipais no exception. My only complaint, which shows in the drinkability score, is that its usually $6 for a bomber. Its just, I dunno, when you can get 6 comparable ipas for just 1-2 bucks more, well, that's why I rarely drink this stuff. Its good . . .

Nose is pure fresh sweet pineapple and really nice.

Mouthfeel is thin but well balanced and completely rectified by big and bold bitter pine and grapefruit flavors that go to a long pine and grapefruit oil finish.

A big IPA with nice flavors that's simple but drinkable.

22 oz bomber without a freshness date. Pours a clear, medium gold color with a small cap of whiteish foam. Fades pretty quick and does not leave a whole lot of lacing.

Nose is quite biscuity, with a sweet grainishly malty base that holds it's own against the hops. Lupulin aromas are of sappy pine bark and hints of citrus.

Nice interplay of bittering hops, pine flavor and just-past-biscuity malts. Leaves plenty of bitter pockets on the tongue on the aftertaste. The earthy quality of malt that I have noticed in most Moylan's beers is evident here as well, almost peat-esque in flavor. The beer is easy to drink and fits snugly in the middle range of IPAs. Solid, but nothing about it will blow your mind; balanced and drinkable...what's wrong with that?

Bomber from Lifesource ,Salem. Good looking,if typical for an IPA. Slightly bronzed orange beer with a nice thick and frothy creme coloured head. Aroma is also pleasing though less bursting with hops than most West Coast varietes..this almost has an English style aroma to it. Taste reflects the aroma and it seems a quite balanced beer for it..the malts do well. Then right at the end of the mouthful the hops get really turned on. Ok on the palate not the best and not the worst for the style..good lingering bitterness. Ovrall a nice IPA, more balanced than many on the West Coast.

22oz bomber poured into my mug

Appearance is a medium copper color with a rocky two and half inch slightly off white head. Great head retention that slowly subsides in parts leaving an island and soapy scattered lacing.

Citrus aromas come straight at your nose with deep pungent grapefruit as the prominent smell. Mango, pineapple and tangerines are all present as well. Floral aromas of wild flowers with a bit of pine sap seek its way through along with bubblegum and caramel malts.

Taste upfront is a bit of caramel malts with a slight citrus flavor of grapefruit. Midway a bit of bitterness shows up along with bread and cracker like malts. Disappointed that the taste did not follow the nose and there was a lack of citrus flavor. Most likely this is due to being an old bottle.

Medium bodied with average carbonation. There was no bottle on date so blame the brewery.

Poured a golden orange with yellow highlights that had a thin head and left a little lacing sticking to the glass. Nice citrus grapefruit upfront along with caramel malts, slight apricots, and mild hop notes. On the taste the hops were a little bit more potent with citrus grapefruit that helped out on the bitter bite but it didi have apricot accents and a good caramel malt backbone. The brew medium in body with a noderate amount of carbonation which had a slighty fruity, hoppy, bitter, and oily finish. It drank good and was a good start to a Thursday night in the studio.

The beer pours a golden yellow color with a white head. The aroma is a great mix of hops and malt. I get some pine and orange citrus notes, but this is balanced with a lot of caramel malt. The flavor is more of the same, with a lot of orange citrus hop notes as well as some bready and caramel malt. Definitely maltier than I was expecting. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Found a bomber for 5.75. Has a bit of age but it should drink ok.

A - Poured into my pint glass with a ton of head. Carbonation and lacing is nice along with a kind of weird yet interesting hazy amber color.

S - Well I can smell it from my seat dominant citrus and pine hops that also have a resin like malt in the backround. Hope it tastes as good as it smells.

T - Wow citrus sweet followed by piney bitter and then a dry sort of wet hop smack to the buds. Pretty nice. ABV kind of hits my empty stomach hard but enjoyable. Sort of dry hopped finish which is nice for an IPA.

M - Very medium to light bodied. could have a couple... bombers.

D - Well I am in needs of some fresh but for a nice cheap California bomber this one takes my vote right below Lagunitas. Sorry Moylan's they are just more balance!

A: Poured from a bottle to a mug. Had an amber color and a somewhat hazy consistency. There was a big, creamy, long-lasting head. Excellent lacing.

S: A sharp aroma of hops, malt, and citrus.

T: Had a big dose of hops, along with grapefruit up front, with some sweet malt in the finish. Slightly unfocused, but very tasty nonetheless.

M: A good amount of carbonation with a slick finish. Medium-bodied.

D: A very drinkable beer.

22 oz bomber. My bottle says Nor Cal IPA, but the description and stats match those for the regulat IPA on the website. It would appear that they've changed the name.

Appearance: Bright and clear golden orange. A decent head with subpar retention. Reasonable lacing.

Smell: Spicy and earthy hops,a grainy malt smell, and burnt rubber. Not a real bright hoppy nose for an IPA.

Taste: As expected, spicy, earthy and grainy. Very bitter finish. This is kind of a mess.

Mouthfeel: Nothing really wrong here I guess. Carbonated appropriately, slick and smooth, slightly resiny finish.

Drinkability: The best I can say is, its not terrible. Calling it average is a stretch.

22 oz bomber poured into Dogfish Head signature glass (August 19, 2010). No freshness dates that I can find.

Eyes: The fluid is a bright, hazy, golden color, a lot like a wheat beer. Fluffy white head forms after a heavy pour.

Nose: Some nice floral hops, citrus and a good dose of earthy, herbal notes.

Tongue: A good dose of citrus that dominates the pine notes, with a lot of sweet caramel notes. Definitely some herbal/earthy notes that blends well.

Mouth: Crisp and refreshing despite the flavor complexity and sweetness.

Libation: A very nice balanced IPA. The strong herbal/earthy character is sometimes a tough marriage with such citrus notes, but Moylan's IPA pulls it off.

650ml bottle bought online from Beersofeurope.co.uk

Poured a nice golden coppery orange colour. Creamy head with orange tinges poured quite thick then faded quickly to light ring around the edge. Light carbonation... light lacing lines...

Aroma - Spicy juicy fruits (apricots, limes, oranges), piney / grassy hops, some caramel sweetness, biscuity malts, perfumed, light tobacco notes, rubbery, some light almond nuttiness, toasted bread...

Taste - Quite sharp spicy, piney / floral hop bitterness, toasty / biscuity maltiness, light honey / caramel sweetness, earthy tobacco notes, good fruitiness (oranges and limes), buttery notes, light medicinal hints, sea salt traces, some faint metallic hints...

M&D - Quite sharp initially then mellows out. Light / medium bodied... Very quaffable..

Overall - Another fine example of a US IPA... recommended...

Poured into a Cervoise glass from a 22 oz. bottle.

This beers appearance is a nice clear orange/dark amber color with nice lacing and a medium head on the pour that disipates a bit.

Smell has a very strong herbal component to it. I honestly can't pick out much else, but I do like the nose.

The taste is nice, but not overpowering. The hops are not over the top as some IPA's can be. The bittering hops are still present many seconds after each taste.

The mouthfeel is nice with and no off putting flavors.

Drinkability is nice, but honestly this is not a beer I would turn to often. It's not that I don't like it, but it is just not one I could drink often.

Pours a cloudy orange/amber. Decent head w/ very good retention and lacing.

Nice strong aroma of raisin bread, caramel, and stonefruits. Very floral with hints of herbs. Smells like an English garden. Nice!

Mmmm, very flavorful sweet malts offset with a serious hoppy bite. Significant bitterness lingers alongside a citrus sourness in the aftertaste. The aftertaste is not at all unpleasant, but the initial flavor is better.

This beer has a full mouthfeel that coats the tongue very well. Quite appropriate for the style.

I could see myself trying this again if I found it on tap, as it's definitely above average. However, it won't be my go-to IPA. The sourness in the aftertaste is the main turnoff for me, but otherwise a great beer.

a- bottle poured into a pint, full finger of head, nice retention, slight haze, bright orange color, minimal bubbling.

s- nice earthy nose, some dry hopping, slight pine, grapefruit, herbal notes.

t- good bite right off the bat, well bittered, grapefruit pith, juice, sappy pine, slight toasted biscuit, some herbal notes, tasty.

m- medium to full body, prickly, lots of coating.

d- really nice drinkability here, this is a tasty ipa, just how i like them, full of grapefruit, pine, and bitterness.

Poured into a chalice copper in color with a one finger white head. Great lacing all the way down the glass. Scent of hops and sugars are present. The taste is a good hop bite that mellows out to a sugary carmel flavor. The mouthfeel is good, but a little dry in aftertaste for my likes. Over all this is a great drinking IPA.
