This was my first DIPA (or TIPA), and the beer that got me into hops 3 years ago. It's been over a year since I've had it, and I've had the big boys since then (PtY, PtE, Racer X, Dreadnaught, HopSlam etc). Should be fun to see what I think of it these days.
Appearance- No freshness date, and a giant waste of paper for a label on the bottle(please go back to screen printing!). Poured into my Duvel tulip, a 2 finger luscious head arises and laces well as it lingers for a very long time. The body is a glowing burnt orange and is accompanied by great lacing all the way down. It's weird that others didn't seem to be getting the head that I did. I don't know how much this beer could improve looks wise. I want to give it a 5, but maybe it's the Duvel...screw that, it's spot on.
Smell- Very fragrant grassy and citrus hops atop spicy pine and a hint of alcohol. Not sure how fresh this bottle is, but I have to think it's not terribly old because the nose is still bringing the hops hard.
Taste- Wow, the bitterness is certainly ass-thumping like you'd expect from the nose, but there's also this biscuity/bready, almost rye like malt backing to the flavor (not sweet). It tastes like chewing on a blend of grapefruit zest, pine needles, and rye toast. What hop or malt is giving off this rye-ish flavor? Anyways, pretty damn intense hop bitterness. I don't enjoy the straight biterness as much these days, but to be honest, I'm still more impressed by these dry, hop bazookas than really drinkable DIPA's.
MF- The hops dry out your tongue like you'd expect, and probably want out of something claiming to be a triple IPA. Nice, full body with a good, medium level of carbonation that tries to keep these hop oils/resin from completely coating your tongue.
Drinkability- Let's be honest, you aren't going to drink a few bombers of this, but the brave could stomach two. This borders on Pliny the Younger bitterness. This is still a damn impressive beer in my book, and if it had the same price tag it did back when I first tried it, I'd make it a regular in my line-up.

A - A deep clear amber pour with a one inch foamy head which leaves minimal lacing.
S - Caramel malts, honey, cantaloupe, grapefruit and more grapefruit.
T - Like the nose, tons of grapefruit with some honey and caramel malts, finishing with more grapefruit and a touch of aspirin. Alcohol is well hidden.
M - Smooth and oily with a dry, bitter finish. The bitterness hangs around the tongue forever after the last sip. Carbonation is medium.
O - A tasty, bitter DIPA with a well-hidden 9.2 ABV. Give it a try if you love hop-bombs, otherwise avoid.

Pours amber with a fading head.
Nose shows big citrus fruit with orange marmalade and tangerine alongside soft pine and resinous hops. Also some clean malt and soft booze.
Very aggressive flavours. Massive pine and grapefruit with just a little malt underneath. Very sharp bitterness in the finish mixing with the booze. Almost harsh.
Nice moderate carbonation.
