Thanks to cpinto6 for this interesting new beer.
Pours a nice creamy looking 1 finger head that fades semi slowly with decent lacing, over super hazy bright reddish orange colored beer with some yeast chunkies on the bottom.
Nose needs to warm up a little, but brings some big malts, sweet caramel malty aromas, yeasty as well, candy style malts with big earthy hops, some light citrus with the typical candied orange peel, a bit juicy with light tangerine and fruits.
Taste brings the malts up front again, chewy malts with chewy hops, caramel malts, reddish sweet malts, toffee, a little creamy feeling, etc. A little yeasty flavored as well. The hops kick in, quite a lot of hops actually, quite bitter, big earthy slight spicy hops, chewy hops, grassy, a bit of pine, and just a touch of citrus. As it warms in my mouth a light doughy malt sneaks through the bitter hop kick with the yeast. Finish brings lots of bitterness, it gets a little astringent and even more so as it dries fairly quickly, the one time a bit of sweetness would have helped balance on the finish. Lingering earthy spicy hops, a bit chewy and grassy, but quite bitter.
Mouth is med bodied, a bit creamy, quite a bit of carb too.
Overall good but not great, the hops are a lot more for bitterness than flavor and aroma, but there is a bit of it in there. A nice big malt profile to help balance at first until that disappears on the finish leaving the bitter astringent hops.

Poured into a standard pint glass a dull lighter golden with a nicely formed half finger white head that held well.Lighter herbal citric hop notes in the nose along with a firm malt base wich was not very sweet.citric and herbal hops are the main flavor nots, although not in your face they pack a nice little punch, mild biscuit malt notes underneath.Although not a big American IPA it packs enough hops to satisfy.

A - Hazy goldish amber. Nice lacy foam with large pockets.
S - Clove, allspice, bready, wine-y. Good amount of grapefruit on the fruity side.
T - Resinous hop character: muted bitterness, grainy flatness, grassy, very faint roasted malt
M - Smooth and crisp, very clean and dry
Shows some signs of age, I would like to try it on draft fresh and see what is up after that.

So I bought a case of this as it was one of the few IPAS available in beer deprived (depraved) MS. We still do not have enough quality offerings via distribution here, as presumably most quality breweries have enough distribution already. Hopefully we will continue to gain in assortment.
On to this beer: I bought a whole case from my vendor without trying it first. Big mistake. The product pours so foamy that it will run out of a 24 oz. mug, just by decanting it (properly, as I am so very well versed). Next it is very malty, rather than hoppy in any sense of the word. Mouthfeel is of heft without redeeming taste qualities. Smell is not like Ruination or West Coast IPA--it is more like, well just a malt-bomb. Can't describe it better, sorry. Overall it is something I will never buy again, though it remains better than the macro-brews. I still have 5-6 left from a case I bought almost 6 months ago, and that is saying something.
Red Brick, you should go to school and fix this offering. In the words of Chevy Chase, "you're really not that good..."
