Bottle served into a tulip shaped glass.
Appearance: murky yellow, amber with a thick white head. The hop particles are largely visible floating around the glass. Some of the head is composed of the hop particles.
Smell: Piney, hoppy, citrusy, vanilla, apple skins, cinnamon
Taste: piney, hoppy, and bitter on the front end. I can taste the alcohol on the back end. I can also taste in the middle the sweetness from the apple skins and vanilla.
the mouthfeel is thick and highly carbonated.
Overall This is my favorite unfiltered Double IPA. I love that the hop presence cuts through in this one. It goes down very smooth. I feel like this beer could have been better blended with hiding the alcohol taste because it also cuts through somewhat.

This is a more heavily malty beer than I would hope for the style. There is also a bit of a burn from alcohol on it as well. It's definitely a decent drinker, but for the style, I would hope for a lot more to be giving me an interesting experience. I could definitely pass on this one, but I guess it's always okay to be trying a new beer.

A - Oours with a massive, three finger head of off white foam on top of a hazy, golden brown body. The head settles slowly and leaves good lace on the glass.
S - a sweaty Hop aroma with notes of pine and dirty socks as well as caramel and dark bread in the background.
T - Sweaty hops and dark sugar up front. Some pine and light clove in the middle with notes of brown sugar. Finishes with notes of red apple, pine and anise.
M - Medium thick body, moderately high carbonation, and a balanced finish.
D - a bit on the dark side for an ipa. The aroma is relatively promising, but the hops are really muted in the flavor profile and the heavy malt doesn't help. At least it isn't infected, which is more than I can say for some other beers from this brewery.

Sampled from a 12oz bottle purchased at The Beer Dispensary in Apex, NC.
A - A light golden color with a slight haze and a moderate white head. Good lacing.
S - Varied and complex hop aromas with both citrus and pine.
T - Starts nice with a citrus flavor and bitterness but hollows out a bit in the middle and finish.
M - A moderate carbonation of fine bubbles. But a bit thin for a DIPA.
O - Some good aspects but not complex or rich enough for a DIPA. After trying the IPA, I was careful to avoid the sediment but I lost a good amount of the beer as a result.

Note: You have to let the beer warm before drinking, otherwise it will hit you up with an a big band-aid flavor.
A: An unfiltered dark orange color with a thick off white head that laces the glass.
S: A big Crystal malt aroma. Good caramel and a bit of citrus hop.
T: Unfortunately there is still a bit of astringent flavor with some caramel malt and bittering hop flavor. The finish has some alcohol phenols with the hop flavor and bitterness. To me it seems like a 2 dimensional beer. I'm getting a tiny bit of peach, but for the most part, the fruity esters are trying to come through but I'm not getting them. Lots of malt and a bit of hop that is overshadowed by the malt.
M: Medium feel with good carbonation.
O: Not too bad. I would recommend the beer, but with the caveat that you have to serve it at the correct temp. In the world of DIPAs, which is vast, I would say it is average.

Tried this one tonight as a first beer. Pours a nice orange blond with a good 2" head that quickly dissipates typical of an IPA. Wasn't expecting the yeast cake in the bottom of the bottle though. I poured chunks of bottle conditioned yeast right into the glass, which left the beer a little more yeasty than I would've liked (i'll be running for the toilet tonight before bed, i'm sure of it).
The taste is pretty good. I'm fairly close to Georgia where I live, and the beer was nice and fresh. It's hoppy with plenty of citrus and floral earthy aroma from the beer. I'm willing to bet it has some dry hopping but not late hop additions in the whirlpool nor a hop back treatment. I was looking for more balance from malts, but it was very dry and alcoholic which took away from the sweet balance I look for in DIPA's from hops. If you're looking for a dryer, more alcoholic tasting non-sweet DIPA, this is your beer.
Mouth feel is fine. It's best cold and has plenty of fizz with a warming middle. Overall, it's a good beer, just not quite up to epic standards.

Bottle poured into Nonic pint glass. Pours a burnt orange copper color with a fluffy white head. Smells of citrus and piney notes, sweet malts. Taste - I was expecting more of the hop bitterness to shine through but no. Some citrus and grapefruit but much more sweet caramel malty base. Medium carbonation with med. mouthfeel, a bit boozy. Overall, a decent DIPA but with more imbalance to the malty side, which is not really my favorite.

light golden amber. Smooth and very cloudy, this thing looked like it was about to kick my ass, and as I was about to find out, it was defintley going to. Lots of ripe grapefruit and pineapple hops that just tore through the air as soon as I leaned in to it. Huge notes of hops dominated the entire flavor as well. Sharp flavor here as the resin like hops took all the moisture out of my mouth and left me parched, dry and looking for more. One of the best finishes I have had in a big IPA in a very, very long time. I

Body is very clean orangish light amber with a nice foamy head. Smell is very sweet more akin to apricot and peach than the usual citrus in an IPA. It is different but still has some earthy tones as well. Taste is surprisingly bitter actually. Smelled like it would be one of the cloyingly sweet ones. Clean citrus tones. With a clean malt backbone. Not one the best IPA's out there but better than a lot of them. Very solid for $8 a four pack.

12oz bottle into a pint glass.
Holy floaties! This Double IPA pours a golden orange. Maybe a finger of head forms but falls back into the glass. Lacing is spotty on the glass.
Nose is heavy on the citrus as one would expect from a Double IPA. Bit of caramel malt to round everything out.
Flavor follows the nose with heavy citrus notes like grapefruit and the like. Some nice malt goes well with the bitterness, pretty tasty brew.
Medium body with adequate carbonation.
Overall a nice DIPA that has all of the qualities you would want from a brew like this, well done.

12 oz bottle pours a super-hazed, dark gold color with a tight-bubbled light tan head. Ok retention and good lace.
Nose is tropical and citric hops and has a fair amount of sweet biscuity grain...bordering on caramel. Candy-esque in the aroma.
Taste is very nice and smooth, well integrated and flows nicely. I like that the sweetness from the malt is not dark, cloying and burnt caramel. Balances the sweetness with the big alcohol and vibrant hop bitterness quite well. I am impressed. Has plenty of carbonation, but the bubbles are so fine is has a silky texture going down. Not perfect, but there certainly isnt much to complain about here...maybe if I had to nitpick I would say the beer is not overly complex and the alcohols can get a touch rough around the edges. To say this DIPA flys under the radar would be an understatement! Good stuff Red Brick.

A-dark amber with a nice light cream colored head. lots of floaties.
S-creamy tangerine. a hint of vanilla. some faded hops. strong scent...not terrible.
T-comes in with a very evident flavor of tangerine and slightly bitter hops. its a good, full flavored taste. the tangerine flavor lasts and makes up a good long lasting after-taste. this tastes like it was made from high quality ingredients, though the hops didn't hold up so well.
M-medium creamy carbonation with a dry and slightly bitter carbonation.
O-its definitely a tasty beer but this isn't quite what i want when i'm scouting for a good double IPA. i wanted more bitterness and hops, and this seems to focus more on the flavors, which is fine when you don't want a kick in the mouth. its a decent IPA, I won't being craving for this, but I'll recommend to my hop head friends.

Thanks to kkipple for this interesting guy.
Pours a fizzy and light fluffy 1/2 finger head that fades slowly with a bit of lacing, over crazy hazy orange peach colored beer.
Nose has some hops but not as much as I expected, some citrus hops, touch of grapefruit, bit of sweet malts underneath.
Taste starts rich and malty, lots of malts but not a big malt flavor, a bit on the sweet side and hint of booze. then some hops with a bit of citrus, hint of grapefruit, some earthy chewy hops, and decent bitterness at first. As it goes the bitterness grows with a bit more chewy earthy hops on the finish, and hint of citrus.
Mouth is a bit heavier bodied, hint of booze, decent carb.
Overall not bad, not a huge hop or malt profile, malty balance but not a lot of malt flavors, and not a big hop profile, almost like the decided to make a DIPA but weren't sure where to go with it so just went right down the middle and nothing in particular.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Duvel Tulip. Thanks to my buddy Audi for bringing this up from Atlanta.
A: Very nice hazy burnt orange color. Aggressive pour leads to a huge 3 finger fluffy white head that disappears to thick, viscous lacing.
S: Probably the weakest component of this beer. Slight citrus hop smell, with a bigtime malty backend. Not too much else going on here.
T: Malt and hops balanced back out here on the palate. Nice blend of sticky hops and caramel malts.
M: Sticky hops create an aftertaste that leaves me wanting more and more with each sip. Perfectly carbonated, alcohol is well hidden.
O: A decent IIPA, glad I have a 4-pack as this one is a nice sipper.

Appearance was a half inch head which dissipated to a ring which hung around. Very good lacing. Very good carbonation with many tiny bubbles which hung around.
The nose had a clean citrus piney aroma with some malt in the back.
At the beginning of the tongue is the hops followed by malt/hop mix. A balanced beer.
Overall this is a smooth DIPA for a 9.00 ABV. Had a couple of times before but really enjoyed it this time. Would have it again.

12oz bottle to a Russian River -tion glass.
Pour yields a 1 1/2 inch head. Some of the most impressive lacing I have seen from the style. Thick ring at top and bottom with webbing between. Very nice medium amber with just a hint of orange. Just when I thought it was on its way to a perfect score floaties and lots of them.
Smell is caramel, toffee, apricot and pine and it gets better as it warms. Taste is more of the same but the pine is much more dominant here with just a mild hop bitterness for the style. Mouthfeel is nice. Full bodied with medium carbonation.
Solid dipa here, I prefered it on tap, but the bottled version is nice as well.

Bottle to Parra Tulip
12oz
Thanks to @thehughbachi(via twitter) for this one. Had a bet my Bears would beat his Falcons.
App- Dark orange with some yellow/wheat haze in the middle radiating outward. One finger of head presented and was gone pretty quickly and fell to a couple good lines of lace with a touch of cling. A little pond layer was there as well.
Smell- Deeper malts with a damp ground pulp and a little bit of bitter citrus notes. Smelled a lot like a small barleywine with a thickness and malt backbone as mentioned.
Taste- Taste follows the nose with a lot of thick malts and a touch of pepper. A bit of a balanced deep citrus flavor. Seemingly a bit earthy for a DIPA. Added a nice depth of flavor to it.
Mouth- Medium bodied and medium carbonation. A bit of residual peppery notes. A bit thick as well.
Drink- This was pretty good. A bit tasty but much too thick as it warms. A little bit over malted for my tastes but still carries the DIPA flag well. Needed a touch more bitter/citrus balance.

Pours cloudy orange into my swamphead snifter.. one inch white frothy head, spotty lace.
smells.. biscuity malts. citrusy hops
well carbonated, medium body
Tastes of a rich smooth malty base with citrus undertones.
Overall, not as hoppy as I would expect from a "double" ipa... However..Drinkable for 9 octane.

12oz bottle sent over by LSUPT. Cheers bud!
Pours a very murky blood orange that has an insanely impressive off white head on top. The head lasts forever and leaves big webs of lacing all over my La Fin Du Monde tulip. I had to knock the points for appearance due to a hefty load of sediment that has settled at the bottom of my glass after floating around all over the place.
Smell is somewhat weak with the orange and grass being the highlight. Somewhat one dimensional in the nose, but it is still fairly nice.
Taste is completely different from the nose. Gobs of grassy hops, melon, citrus, grapefruit, and finished with the juiciest hops I've found in a beer yet. I've become so accustomed to the mouth drying west coast DIPA's, it was very nice to have a well put together juicy east coast DIPA.
Very creamy mouthfeel, but it works well with the juicy hops. Very easy to drink.
I really liked this one. A very solid DIPA that I think would shine even more if had fresh on tap. Thanks again Alex.

I really like RB so I figured I would give their DIPA a shot.
A- A nice light redish amber color with a mild amount of white foam. A little amount of carbonation. Has a good amount of sediment floating around the glass as well.
S- Has a really nice hoppy smell to it. Can make out a nice citrus and piney flavor to it.
T- Really wasn't the hoppiness that I thought it would be. A great balance of hop to malt. Has a good citrus flavor with more of a sweet caramel finish to it.
M- Has great drinkability, really has a sticky flavor to it. It has a really sweet finish.
Overall- I did like it even though I didn't expect the balance of malt to hop. Cheers

Pours a cloudy sediment filled orange, one inch head that quickly dissipates to a firm ring with decent lacing.
Smell is of citrus, grassy, grapefruit, and malt
Taste is mostly citrus hoppiness with a solid malt backbone. Herbal grassiness as well. If you want a hop bomb this is not it, but if you like a little balance this may be for you.
Mouthfeel is thick and sticky to me, but I like it.
Overall a solid IIPA, love the taste but too many floaties for a high rating.

A 12 ounce bottle from jyounger30; thank you!
Pours a copper/straw color that appears quite hazy. There is ample white, bubbly head to top it off. Smells strongly of both malt and hops, but in a decent balance. Notes of pine, citrus, and spice also come through. The taste accentuates the hops, citrus, pine, and clove, but all in front of a strong malt backbone. Some alcohol is also notable. Mouth finishes a touch sticky, but otherwise very good with ample carbonation. Overall, a great DIPA!

pours a beautiful orange tinged marigold hue with a good bit of cloudiness. a frothy and foamy two-finger head has stunning retention and leaves a plethora of lacey dots down the glass.
aroma is fairly subdued but has some citrus brightness, caramel sweetness, and a touch of bready, toasty malt notes that come through.
taste is deliciously rich with a fairly citrusy hop profile, just enough doughy maltiness to balance. boozy and hot, but not too intense... almost in a pleasant way.
mouth is moderate, a touch slick, but lighter than many IIPAs. it's actually quite pleasant with a warming and slightly drying finish.
all in all, an impressive offering! a bit strong and boozy, but not in an offensive way... all of the flavors, while somewhat simple, come together nicely to make a delicious brew I'd love to try again.

Tasted the day it rolled off the truck.
Pours a hazy orange with lots of sediment and a 2-finger off-white head. Retention is solid. So is the lace.
The nose is intensely tropical with big orange aromas, mango, a touch of grapefruit, leafy hops and a bit of chalkiness. The malt is there but definitely subdued- a sort of honeyed grain undertone.
The palate sees that mild malt completely washed out by a big wave of bitterness and a return to the leafy orange vibe. Definitely delivers on the bitterness front, but the boozy finish completely ruins it for me. The combination of the alcohol's vague sweetness and peppery bitterness throws the finish's balance way out of wack. Plus alcohol just doesn't taste all that great in such a quantity.
Overall, not bad, but this is a malty company doing a hoppy beer. It could have been a lot worse for sure, but I'll stick to Red Brick's browns and porters and leave the IPAs for someone else.

Picked up a 4 pack. Poured one out into a pint.
This is a beautiful beer. Deep, hazy orange/gold, with a swirling galaxy of haze and chunkies. Dense, lasting off-white foamy head. Looks thick, with slow rising bubbles.
Nose is fantastic floral hops, with tropical / pineapple notes. Toasted malts come through. Complex and great.
Taste is resinous hops. Sticky, dry pine. Lingering green leafy hops. It could use some more balance, but the hop flavor itself has good depth. Some ethanol on warming.
Mouthfeel is a thick, bubbly DIPA. Not bad at all.
One of the better beers brewed in the South.
