On tap at O'Brien's today.
Pours a dark clear copper. minimal thin white foam cap from the bartenders pour. Smell is grainy and earthy, in a hop sorta way. Taste has a nice and smooth combination of earthy hops and mild crystal grains. A perfectly good session beer. I've never been a fan of this style but found it amazingly drinkable if in the right mood. Nothing to complain about in the carbonation department.

Growler purchased from the brewery. Reviewed from notes.
A: Pours a clear pale amber color with a thin off-white head that faded to a lasting collar.
S: Fragrant hops on the nose, floral and lightly fruity, with undertones of bready malts.
T: Follows the nose with flavors of bready crackery malts with the hops taking a back seat. I get notes of light pine and a bit of mineral water. Flavors are quick with almost no aftertaste. An extremely mellow beer.
M: Medium body, slick and clean mouthfeel with light carbonation. Light bitterness in the finish.
O: I thought the nose was way different than the mouth. A very light and quaffable beer, albeit light and a bit boring.

Poured into a pint glass at the brewery.
A: Half a finger of light head. Clear golden body.
S: Wet barley. Bread. Dank hops.
T: Tastes like weed. Mint. Hops. Rye. A little like a pumpernickel pale ale.
M: Only moderately substantial. Boring.
O: A pretty good pale ale, but not great. Would not have again or recommend.

Taken from my notes...
Burnt orange, clear hue, no head. Nice clean malt aroma. very crisp flavor. Citrus hops in the flavor. Grain malt flavors blend nicely with the hops, which back it up. Juicy, light hop after taste, or is it the malt? This borders on the line of a strong best bitter. It's not as even as per say, a Magnolia brew, but it's alright. The malt character is bolder than I'd imagine. After having this beer sit for a bit some of the after tastes that I liked at first I began to dislike. Instead of a lingering good hop aftertaste the beer seems to get a second wind. Glad I tried this brew. I'm typically a fan of their nonbelgian brews, because it's a nice change of pace, this just isn't bad, just not my thing.

On tap at Russian River. Poured into a pint glass. Comes in at 5.68% and 30 IBUs.
A-Pours a clear golden amber. It has a one finger off white head that has some good retention and leaves lots of lacing around the entire glass. Lots of bubbles can be seen rising from the bottom.
S-Swwet malt, pale malt, bisuity notes, and grassy hops all are prevalent and none dominates. A nice sublte nose.
T-It starts out sweet with a lot of pale malt and biscuit malt flavor. Earthy hops hit midway resulting in a minimal level of bitterness. It finishes with more sweetness. A touch of pine is left in the aftertaste.
M-It is quite chewy and oily. It is lightly carbonated.
D-An easy drinking session beer.
I haven't consumed this one in awhile and I enjoyed it more than I remember. It is a nice change of pace from the usual hoppy monsters they make.

Grabbed a growler 11/27 consumed 11/28
A: This beer pours a clear copper color with a one finger of white sudsy, creamy, rocky head. Decent head retention that leaves nice spotty lacing on the glass.
S: Nose is of caramel malts, pale malts, and a touch of citrus and piney hops.
T: Taste is caramel malts up front with the middle filled with grainy notes and a touch of yeast/biscuit, finish has very prominant grassy notes. Finishes with a bite of floral and piney hops.
M: Medium body, medium carbonation, crisp and clean with a somewhat chewy finish.
D: Nicely blended, hopped up version of the style. Goes down easy, very drinkable and with the ABV being so reasonable, is easily one to sit with for a while.

On-tap at the Memphis Tap-Room in Philadelphia...
Basically, a super-hopped English Pale Ale...
A well-done depiction of the style...
Previously never heard of this brew before...
Copper/amber hue, nice head and lacing...
Rich malts and amber grains on the nose...
Well-balanced between malts and hops with bread and butter nuances and slight caramel...
Medium-bodied mouthfeel...
Easily downable...
Not bad...

Served on tap at O'brien's TION night in a 10oz taster.
An interesting named pub beer, very light as a follow-up to Pliney the Younger. The British influence is definitely there - I mean, I tried this without knowing what it was and thought it was an IPA mixed with a British ale. Color is light orange/yellow, big white head, sweet malt, smooth and very drinkable (and low abv compared to many IPAs), but nothing too memorable.

Tap at obriens 15th annv, though this sounded interesting, turned out to be a very fine brew. Rich color, leaf green flavors as noted in the name. Not overly complex but enjoyable. Would love to see this in 6 pack. Great texture. Lots of hops, reminded me of port brewings fresh hop.

Enjoyed this as fresh as it can get, at the Russian River Brewing Co. in Santa Rosa. I love taking field trips...
It is light orange color and produced a nice head. The aromas are what is most interesting about this beer. Immediately I am struck by a smell that I have never experienced in a beer before - Blue Cheese. I am convinced it is not a flaw, it is the subtle combination of the malts, hops and yeast that created the slight blue cheese-like character that actually enhanced this beer. Imagine a nice hamburger with melted blue cheese on top, or even a cheese platter and crackers with this one, a perfect pair.
Flavors are good, slightly sweet malts and a little high on the alcohol, but all-in-all not a bad beer. I definitely would like to hear if anyone else got the same aromas as I did.

A: Clear gold, with a decent sized white head.
S: Citrusy hops with a bit of passion fruit.
T: A little bit spicy, with a sweet malt beginning and some hops and bitterness in the finish.
M: Smooth and refreshing.
D: Drinkable but not hiding too high of an abv. A good EPA, haven't had the style in awhile, but may stick with RR's other stuff for awhile

If I tried this beer in an EPA tasting rather than against RR's big IPA's, it would probably receive higher marks. I adjusted my score a few times, trying to figure out what exactly I was comparing it to. While I wait for my call to judge pale ale competitions, here are my thoughts on this beer. The beer pours a pleasant golden color with an okay head. The nose is malt and grain with some of RR's usual hoppiness, floral and pine, in the background. There is some bitterness in the finish but the taste was sweet fruit, grain and malt. As the style seems to dictate, the hops are toned down, especially compared to RR's big IPAs. The mouthfeel is a bit light, and the beer is easy to drink. While I didn't give it a go, it's probably an easier beer to drink for the evening than most at RR.

This is a nice, light, but fairly full flavoured, tasty, well-rounded pale ale.
It's a beautiful, golden-amber with even, sparkly bubbles and a thick, creamy white head that lasts and leaves excellent, even lacing.
The aroma is toasted grain with fruit and a little flowery character plus a hint of caramel.
The taste is toasty grain and flowers with a little citrus and apple, plus a light quality of other ripe fruit, bread and a hint of caramel. The bitter-sweet qualities are nicely balanced. It's also very drinkable.
