A nice pub-themed restaurant/bar located in the heart of downtown Kalamazoo (right next to Olde Peninsula brewpub). Place is rather small but what it lacks in size in makes up for in quality, especially in the food department. Relics of the old empire adorn the walls. Arie's is not sure if it wants to be Irish or English but the sentiment is not as important as the beer selection and food. Live music is usually available at least one night a week.
Beers generally tend towards English-type ales and lagers. Local micros, especially Arcadia are always well represented on draft along with Fuller's products. It's nice to be able to get Fuller's Porter on draft in the US. Bottle selection is always well maintained and changing. Apart from the beer selection, the real reason to go to either Arie's location is the food. Exquisite Asian-themed food along with traditional British appetizers and entrees is the order of the day. It sounds quirky and it is but it really works. Great food, good beer, occasionally great beer, can't can wrong. Stop by if your in K'zoo.
