Our Pale Ale is a cross between a traditional British Pale Ale and the modern American Pale Ale. We use premium Canadian two row malt, three select specialty imported malts and lots of hops. This brew pours a golden amber colour with an aroma blend of citrus and breadiness. It has a medium body, mild carbonation and a refreshing hop finish. This brew was one of the flagship Black Oak beers back when Ken opened up the brewery in 1999.

Look: Medium Pale Yellow. Small white head the dissipates to leave a white lace around the top quickly
Smell: Sweet like short bread cookies, with an earthy musty tone. Like cookies dropped on the ground. Surprisingly pleasant given the way I describe it.
Taste: Sweet and bready with an Orange Pekoe tea taste on the back end.
Feel: A little tart and crisp. Plays at the roof of the mouth.
I really liked this beer. Great for summer BBQ or a day at the beach. Solid B+

Had this from a standard 473 ml Canadian pint can. The beer has a mild, but nice hop flavor. It's a good pale ale and would fit well in a British pub. Then again, it might be viewed as high abv in some UK pubs at 5%.

Got this one at the LCBO in the Loo last summer.
From a bomber into a snifter
OG: 11.9*P
Apparently this one has won gold across the country.
APPEARANCE: Pours a three finger, medium looking, creamy white head with very good retention. Clear safety orange with no real carbonation evident. Head slowly fades to a full wisp and leaves some lacing on the glass. A decent wisp remains until the end leaving lot of dots of lacing as the glass empties. Good looking stuff.
SMELL: Pale malts, some caramel notes, grassy hops and some light floral notes. Medium strength.
TASTE: Pale malts again, caramel and floral hops up front. Medium strength finish of hop bitterness, grainy and sweet malt flavor, light caramel and floral notes. Some bitterness lingers.
PALATE: Medium body and medium levels of carbonation. Semi-creamy on the palate, a touch watery perhaps, goes down fine and finishes a tad dry.
OVERALL: Not quite as characterful as the label describes. It's plenty bitter, but it doesn't have the accompanying hop character I'd like to see in an American style pale ale. Still a decently made beer, but not the gold medal winning creation I'd expected.

Pours a nice gold colour with a thick 1cm head. Faint hints of hops on the smell. The taste is delicious, bitter enough to be a pale ale with no aftertaste and not too sweet. I really enjoy this beer, but I will say that it’s a lot better from the can than from the bottle which is backwards than usual for me

650 ml bomber purchased from LCBO for about $6 CDN. Served cool into a pint glass.
Appearance - clear pale golden color, with minimal visible carbonation. A finger and half of white head has decent staying power leaving behind a small amount lace around the edges of the glass.
Smell - quite mild, rather English smelling with a substantial amount of malt especially caramel and a graininess to the aroma like graham crackers.
Taste - definitely a pale ale, almost closer to the English style since the hops are present but not dominating like a lot of pale ales. Graham cracker and pie crust make an appearance, but there's just enough hops that kick in on the back end to let you know it's a pale ale. Quite yummy.
Mouthfeel - smooth, decently carbonated, fairly light body and silky finish.
Overall - not a hop bomb, but perhaps an easier drinking pale ale than one might be used to. Probably a good beer to try to get non craft lovers to take a second look at what. Raft has to offer. Solid.
