Benefiting Friends of Cheyenne Cañon, this ale starts by combining roasted piñon nuts, just a hint of hops, and a nice, round malt component. Our brewers bring together a tasty triad of flavors for this smooth, malty brown ale.

L:. Pours a dark amber red with a small tan head and very little lacing around the glass.

S:. Earthy and very nutty, a medium hoppy bitterness. Love the nuttiness of this beer.

T:. Nutty and earthy toasted bread, a medium bitterness, nice and toasty.

F:. Prickly carbonation, medium body.

O:. Really enjoy this nutty ale

Brownish-amber body with a one-finger thick fizzy head. Lightly sweet malt nose; slight caramel. Light charred malt flavor; fairly bitter finish. Soft, fizzy mouthfeel; clean and dry finish.

A rather disappointing offering this go around. Some years the brewer's hit it, some years they don't. This season's offering (2013) comes across weak and watery and a tad too fizzy. The malt character is really lacking and contributes to it's overall weak character. Disappointing offering compared to past years.

A- From a bomber, pours a clear deep amber with a half-finger of brown head that disappears fairly quickly and leaves no lacing

S- Light sweet malt, very faint green hop

T- Very pronounced pine nut flavor throughout, especially noticeable on the finish, a nice moderate roast on the malt complements nicely, malt has some light sweetness and only light hop flavor is detectable

M- Moderate carbonation, moderate body, easy drinking and smooth, slightly warming

O- The pine nuts are definitely the star of the show with this beer, a true "nut" brown, my wife and I both enjoy this one quite a bit, more of an aroma and some lingering head and lacing for better appearance would improve this for me. Still worth picking one up though

Pours a woodenmahogany with a foamy khaki head and nice lacing. A nice sweet and nutty aroma; brown sugar, doughy, some nut, and a little cherry. Flavor follows suit with some brown sugar, taffee, cherry, a little roastiness, some nuttiness, and a little coffee cake bread. Pretty nice flavor profile. Thin, not quite medium,, creamy moutfeel. Overall, at $3.25 for a bomber I figured I'd give this one a shot. Definitely a good decision as it was quite good and more enjoyable than many bombers that were double the price or more.

Had on-tap at Oskar Blues. Poured a dark brown color with ruby color on the peripheral. Medium beige head with good retention and moderate lacing. Aroma was that of roasted grains, cocoa, nuttiness and sweet malts. Tasted pretty much how it smelled, though I also got notes of caramel. Very sweet beer, but that's not necessarily out of order for the style.

Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Well-balanced, and actually pretty complex for a brown ale. I liked it, and I would have another. Recommended.

poured thin for a nut brown into a pint glass. loved that it was a "for charity" beer, but the mouthfeel was too thin. sweet and incomplete. an absense of revere for its own full potential, an ignorance of its classification, and a vaguely detectable essence of roasted coffee beans. i'd like to have another before i judge too critically

First had: on tap at Oskar Blues Homemade Liquids & Solids, Longmont, CO

Poured a chestnut brown with ruby tints, with a moderately-sized beige head that retained fairly well and left some patchy lace behind. Aroma of toasted grains and malts, nutty, with subtle chocolatey notes. Taste of lightly toasted grains, sweet malts and caramel, bready, with a dusting of cocoa. Medium-bodied and a pretty decent drink overall, even if not extraordinary.

Thanks to belgbeerdrinker for this extra. Served in a Stone IRS tulip.

A - Pours with a half-finger of white foam that settles to some film and a big-bubbled collar, leaving behind spotty lace. Somewhat transparent red-brown color.

S - Odd toffee apple character, earthy malt sweetness, hint of caramel. Not much pine nut character, and a little bit odd.

T - Taste is much better, with a nutty and sugary malt character, mixed with some fruity berry notes. Finishes clean.

M - Medium-light body, medium carbonation, light stickiness, no discernible alcohol, and a very clean finish.

D - A solid, largely inoffensive beer that has a slightly "off" aroma to it. I'd have it again if offered, but wouldn't seek it out by any means.
