After countless trips up the mountain to visit Peabody's it has become obvious to me that this is the best beerstore I have visited by far. The staff are knowledgable and freindly, and the selection is unmatched. The service I get here is unmatched anywhere in any kind of store. I have burned countless gallons of gas and wore out three sets of tires and one vehicle driving here to get beer. I would reccomend you do the same.
I made my first trip to Peabody's tonight and I must say I was impressed. I was not expecting such a selection. There was easily twice as many micro's in this store as any other I've been to. They have a selection of cigars and a huge selection of wine as well. The staff was friendly and knew a good deal about beer. The prices of some stuff was a little high but this place would be well worth a road trip. I will go back to this place in the future. The staff also advised that they could order anything if it is available in NC.

A buddy of mine went to Peabody's, came back and told me about it. I figured it couldn't be that good so I went the very next day. It was that good and more. This is the first time I've given all 5's in a review, and Peabody's deserves it. When you go in you first see wine, but then a walk to the back of the place leads to the largest beer selection I've ever seen. They have cases upon cases stacked on the floor. Beer on shelves and several coolers stacked full. They have a large selection of High Gravity Beers and many regional and national micros. They also have a large selection of imports. When a new seasonal comes out Peabody's is one of the first to have it. Ex: They had several of Highland's Cold Mtn. Winter Ale. Peabody's has become one of my new favorites and I will make make many more visits. When vacationing in Boone Peabody's is a must visit and is worthy of a road trip.

Well, I'm glad I waited to rate this place. The first time I was in there was a Monday I believe. The clerk explained that this day is the fartherest away from any delivery dates and that the stock would not be a good as usual. That said, on a return trip I was very impressed. One of the largest Belgian selections I have seen, including all trappist (except Westy) and De Dolle beers.
The selection of microwbrews was great. Lot of West Coast and Colo.: Lost Coast, Mad River, Left Hand etc. They had a lot of cool bottle conditioned English and Scottish Pints I hadn't seen before. Cool German beers, Uerige Doppel Sticke, Aventinus Eisbock and some doppelbocks that seemed new. The prices were a little high, but for the selection I think it's worth it. The staff seems to know what's going on too, the guy behind counter sounded like he talk about beer forever.
I didn't like the fact that I couldn't mix my own six from the entire stock. But, they also had at least 100 different cold singles to mix from and all of the warm High-Grav stuff could be singled-out. Let's see, they have their own beer Appalachian Ale, pretty good actually, and like 20 bucks a case.
Definently worth the trip. They had a lot of glassware too.

I've been shopping here for years and these guys never let me down. They have the widest wine and beer selection in town with plenty of fine cheeses and chocolates. The beer section is where I spend all my money, and these guys are always keeping the newest, most sought-after beers in stock.
Staff are always friendly and helpful, offering opinions and feedback whenever needed. I've discovered many a great beer by taking their recommendations.
There are two other specialty beer stores in Boone, but the two of them together don't have the selection Peabody's has. If you're going to buy beer in Boone, buy it at Peabody's.

After being told at Bruisin Ales that there were no more Pisgah Vortex II or Valdez to be had, I punched Peabody's into my GPS and headed to Boone. I had never been to Peabody's and had heard from a few people that it had a nice selection. The place was in a good location near the main streets of Boone. I go into the store, and immediately am greeted by at least 3 people working there. I start to look around and lo and behold, I see case on top of case of Pisgah Vortex II and Valdez! Along with that, I see growlers of Pisgah along with others. I continue around the store and glace down to see KBS on the bottom shelf! I haven't seen KBS on the shelves of any store in months! They also have Mikeller, Ballast Point, and plenty of Olde Hickory, just to name a few, plus a super glassware section. I was impressed, Chris and the staff are super friendly and knowledgable. I will probably just skip the asheville stores and head straight for Boone next time. Thumbs up!

This place was amazing. I stopped by Peabody's on a trip through NC to visit multiple breweries and this beer store ended up being one of the highlights of my trip. The selection, the knowledge of their beer guy Chris, and the prices were much better than anything I can get in Atlanta. Not even at hop city.
They had maybe 100 beers that I can't get in Georgia and probably 400 or so different beers in total. The vintage selection was an awesome idea with beers they cellar at the perfect temperature and then bring out years later for sale. For example they had 5 years of the sierra nevada bigfoot sold as a package. They also did cool things like package the mikkeller single hop beers together. A great way to taste the different hops.
I wish this place was closer to Atlanta, it would be my beer store of choice for sure.
Also, Chris, thanks so much for the Green Flash Le Freak! It's an awesome beer from an awesome brewery.

Was in Boone for vacation this month (June 2011), I love Asheville but the Girl loves the high country, as long as Peabody's is around I can enjoy it as much as she does, great selection and great staff. Chris helped me and even found a few things I cant find in Tampa. Thanks for the suggestions I will send people your way! One of the best shops for beer I have been in to! Thanks again guys!
Also as a side not they have a rear finds section and some stuff in a celler - Just ask maybe you can find something that is not even bottled anymore :)

This place is rockin'! The best selection of beer I have ever seen. After six years in Boone I am really gonna miss this fine establishment. If you're ever passing through you owe it to yourself to stop in and get some AVBC Summer Solstice and hard to find gems.
They also have some really knowledgeable and friendly staff. There are wine and beer bottles stacked to the ceiling. With so much to choose from it can be overwhelming, but the guys there have great taste and have tried most of it. The Belgian section is great too, with a lot of beers that I have never seen in NC.
If you like good beer, then this place is your adult candy store!

Decided to stop by based on reviews. The reviews don't give the place enough credit. They had a great selection of locals and imports including just about every Mikkeller I've seen and a extensive wine collection also. Chris, the head beer guy at the shop rocked and everyone else was super friendly. After chatting for a minute, I felt like I had been shopping there for years. Chris basically started pulling bottles out for me that just had barely been pulled off the truck. Everything he suggested was spot on based my preferences.
I would highly suggest a visit.

Peabody's cannot be beaten. I am a fairly new BA user, but I have been to many bottle shops, and I can say I have seen very few (none) like it. Chris, the owner, took the time to walk me through the good values that he had at the time, some rare stuff that he thought was worth considering, and just great session beers for my friend's bachelor party. I ended up having 9 friends on the bachelor party trip -- all beer lovers from all over the country -- join me at Peabody's, and they were all blown away by the selection.
What made the experience, though, was Chris. He took a great deal of time with us and other customers to make sure we got some great beers. He was constantly on the lookout what our interests were and what he might be able to offer us.
What made the experience even better was that when Chris wasn't available, his coworkers stepped in and helped us. They even helped me select an awesome Port to give us a little variety from some beer. Furthermore, he had a great selection of glassware and other such accessories.
Finally, I must say, the prices were excellent. Often, some of the bombers we bought sell for >$11. We paid $5-8 for them. I don't think there is anything so satisfying as taking a couple of boxes of beer home knowing that you have something on your hands that is rare, delicious, and that you got a great deal on it.
I am in Boone for 2 days. I will go back tomorrow. And I will go back on Sunday on my way out of town. Shopping at Peabody's was a real treat, and I am already putting my list together for another huge shopping trip there. I can't say enough good things about the place.
