Always drove by this place when I was younger when our family would visit Boone, but I had never been inside until a few years ago. i've only been there once, but when I did, there was a great selection - cold and at room temperature, as well as a very helpful staff member there who helped me pick out the Dogfish Head Chateau Jiahu, which my girlfriend and I enjoyed. Been a few years since I was in town, but I will certainly stop in next time I'm in the neighborhood, as it is the best beer destination in town.

Peabody's has a diverse selection of beer suitable to every need. The beers are arranged by style and region making it easy to narrow down your search. If you have trouble coming to a decision the staff is more than willing to help you find something to suit your taste. I've always received great service. The price range varies, beers can get pricey fast but they usually match in quality. Once a year Peabody's holds a cellar sell where you can buy rare and aged beers.

Amazing shop nestled in the heart of Boone. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff, excellent cellar selection. Chris was even nice enough to chat us up and hook me and my brother up with beautiful cellar piece. I went back and bought some repeats of things I tried from there for my cellar. Highly reccomended!

An all-around amazing shop! I make a point to stop here every time I am in Boone, and am never disappointed. From hard to find gueuzes (3F and Cantillon) to barrel-aged treats, the selection is second to none. Everything is well-organized and clearly priced. Lots of cold six packs for the hop fix and even a nice wall of glassware. Whenever I have been in Peabody's, the staff has been extremely helpful and friendly. They have also gone above and beyond, holding a few bottles of Hopslam for me when I got shut out all over Raleigh. They also consistently get all of the available local and national limited releases, and in impressive quantities (74 cases of Hopslam!!) that you don't have to kill yourself trying to get them. In short, get there, NOW!

Peabodys is the only store in Boone with a full time beer buyer, wine buyer, and knowledgeable staff who can help you at any time of the day. If it is available in NC, you can find it here. if you cant find it, they will order it for you, often times for the next day. Full selection of cans for hitting the ski lift, full selection of vintage and rare beers for the apres fireplace. Also a great place to find deals, there is usually a large stack of discounted bottles by the tasting bar.
Speaking of tasting, they hold a weekly event on Tuesday nights that features a brewery, region, or theme, offering free tasting of 5-6 beers and often times a brewery representative to answer questions.
Tons of cold beer, two walls of the store are refrigerated, and they have a killer keg selection (best in the area) in the walk-in. Meticulously maintained shelves are always looking fresh and just really add to the overall experience.
Unfortunately, the town of Boone does not allow these guys to pour draft beer, or allow us to enjoy beer on the front porch, though great food options and wine by the glass is offered. Full assortment of snacks, cigars, and cigarettes make it a one stop shop. They also deliver through Boone Takeout, which can be a big save at 11pm on a Friday night.
When they say its the best, they aren't lying.

The guys at the store are knowledgeable and they have a good selection, but the prices are a bit on the above average side. I do understand that this is small town and they have a good selection for the area. But, they also recently had a rare beer and they were only allowing one per customer. I wanted to buy two and they refused to sell me this. I was taken aback is this a capitalist system or not? I had the money and yet was limited to one. I went to another store in town with a really good selection as well. By the way I am in no way connected to either of these. but I will probably never go back to this store because I do not agree that a merchant should limit a customer to anything, especially if the customer is willing to pay for it. Thank goodness the other store had the same product at a lesser cost and were willing to sell me as many as I wanted. Nevertheless, I was a good customer of Peabody's but I doubt I will ever go back in there.

Love these guys! Free beer tastings every Tuesday and free wine tastings every Saturday. There are other tastings that cost for the more dedicated wine connoisseurs. They have a great selection of both wine and beer and also have great cheeses and accessories.

First time to Peabody's, and I was blown away at the selection and service provided. Cases stacked high, and beer aged to perfection was how I was greeted when I walked in the door.
Chris (the Beard) was more than helpful, knowledgeable, willing to go above and beyond to fill my order (even sneaking into the cellar for a couple of selections I had hoped to fill.)
World Class Establishment!!!
This is for sure an hours drive that my car will be able to make on its own, very soon.
Just get there as fast as you can & see for yourself!!!

Peabody's is an outstanding example of how a indy bottle shop can continue being a great success even in the age of the wine and beer mega stores. Their selection is unmatched. Their service is above and beyond. This is a beer geek's mecca. For those not so close by, a yearly pilgrimage is required just to identify yourself as a beer geek. Their knowledge of product is just retarded, but they don't make the weekender feel stupid. They careful listen to your questions and guide you, with great purpose, to a beer you will want to take home to mom and dad! They also have some cute guys working there!!

Living in Boone for the past year and a half, Peabody's has been my go-to beer spot. I can't say how lucky I feel to have such a world class beer store right down the street. The store, and the people running it, are just awesome.
The place seems a little small if you're used to shopping at a Total Wine or similar warehouse style store, but the selection is outstanding. All the new and limited releases are stocked and they seem to get large allocations of most of the highly anticipated stuff. More importantly, in my opinion, they keep all the local, regional and national favorites in stock. There is an extensive Belgian selection and a nice range of German beers as well. Lots of stuff is in coolers so you can grab a cold six pack on the way to the lake/game/pool/school/work. There's seemingly always something new and/or obscure coming in.
The service at Peabody's is what really makes the store special. All of the employees are friendly, and I am always greeted upon walking in the door. There are some great guys working there that know their stuff and are easy to have a conversation with--about beer or otherwise. They give thoughtful recommendations, and never seem to be trying to just move old/unpopular product.
I could go on and on about this place, but suffice to say: If you like beer, and are in the area, there is no excuse not to give Peabody's a visit.
