This can be had in europe only as it is not imported into the US. This is hoegaardens unfiltered, light-amber, barley beer, and it is a damn good one at that. This pours a light amber colour, which has a high level of clarity that is not usually associated with Hoegaardens beer:-) This had a bit of a head to it but nothing over the top. This had some very subtle aromas of barleys, malts and hops. This tasted nice, like a light amber lager with something more to it, maybe it's the belgian spices and brewing technique? Anyway this also has a crispy mouthfeel and a nice drinkability factor...so what are you waiting for? Try it!
it's available from belgianshop.com as I write this...

I didn't think I'd like this too much but it was new on draft locally and I hadn't sampled it before. Well now I have. Pours a bright hazy yellow color with hardly any head or lacing. It tastes of bananas, vanilla and some yeast. Thin, watery mouthfeel. I did drink it pretty fast so I could get on to the next beer.

It pours a dark amber with a crisp white head that leaves little lacing around the glass.
The smell is of yeast, slight hints of fruit and some barley.
The taste is clean to start with a milky like mouthfeel and then with hints of yeast. It finishes clean enough but with a grass or clove like aftertaste. It's a normal enough beer that you can get a the local Albert Heijn, at least in Amsterdam. It's a good beer that I will drink again.

Served in a DAS pint like glass.
The head is not very big. Colour is beige. Small bubbles. As the head collapses, not a lot of lacing forms. Pretty scattered too.
The colour is copper with a misty influence.
Not a lot of scent noticeable, mainly malt and a bit of yeast.
Mouthfeel is quite milk like.
Not the most complex brew, but very drinkable and tasty.

pours a cooper-orange color, decent heac (1cm) which slowly dissipates.
nose is metallic, a bit buttery, tart and somewhat malty.
taste is decent, somewhat bitter with that typical taste of butter/oil i find in ambrees but not as strong as the nose. Taste finished very bitter, and I cannot find any malt in this taste.
Unremarkable beer, skippable.

The pour was the best item of this brew: semi hazy dark amber with a very frothy ivory head, my empty grape jar glass sheet laced the whole way down. Best before 15/09/07, so its fresh.
Nice aroma too; Belgium yeast and a fruity candy cane. But the quaff? Wow, what a letdown. Such a thin bodied wimpy brew, almost watery. Any tastes were just unemotional pops on the tongue and gone in a heartbeat. Even though its 5.1%, and would make a good session brew whilst in the Netherlands, I would pass on this one.
As noted in other reviews, the Palm was a much better offering of a BPA.
Thanks to my great son, studying overseas in Amsterdam, for the unique chance to enjoy this one.

Probably designed as a rival to famous Palm Ale. Probably not. Anyway, this ale is quite remarkable for its complexity, though some may call it 'unbalanced'.
Nice bright copper color, medium carbonation, big head and immense lacework. Minuscule bubbles add to the charm.
Smell spicey and fruity, very different from Hoe's Witbier. There is a hint of berries, pineapple, green apples, cinnamon, reminiscent of some sophisticated herbal tea.
Taste is a bit sweetish, very rich, malts and yeasts in a healthy interplay (probably even a competition), spices and tartness in the finish, aftertaste long, fruity.
Too complex for comsuming in big quantity, but quite good as it is.

Murky orange in color, only slightly dark, this beer comes with a thick head which reduces slowly to a complete layer of bubbles.
The smell is creamy and fruity - bananas, some kind of tart berry. I also smell cinnamon, and some mild hops as well. This smell reminds me of Hoegaarden, they are probably using the same yeast.
The taste is fruity and spicy - cherries, some lemon, cinnamon. A mildly thick mouthfeel carries lots of tiny bubbles. Some hops arrive near the end and continue to the brief citrusy (orange) finish.
This is a very refreshing and tasty beer, similar in many ways to Hoegaarden.

Bottled, served in Cafe de Wildeman
Pours with an orange body, cloudy. Off white head with fair retention, some lacing
Smell, like a concentration hoegaarden with a few hints of a strong pale ale, strong esters, little bit of clove
Taste, clean on the palette, spicey, some clove again
Another solid beer from hoegaarden

Appearance: amber color, a pitiful amount of suds on even a hard pour
Aroma: malty and toasty, angel food cake, touch of hops, slightly fruity, similar to De Koninck
Flavor: mild malt flavor and a bit toasty, somewhat one-dimensional and uninteresting, slightly tart, balanced, finishes dry
Mouthfeel: light body, minimal carbonation, watery
Overall Impression: Not much to say about this one. Maybe it was a bad bottle. Didn't even finish this 25 cl serving. All the same, I'll stick with DeKoninck or Palm when I'm going for this kind of beer.
