A very beautiful beer. Incredible striking red color. Very sticky sticky head. PINK LACE one inch up the glass. A very sexy beer.
Big big funk in the nose here. Spicy spicy funk! The horsey notes are really nice and clean. Also get a touch of sourness...maybe from the cherries?? But I don't get much actual cherry scents.
Well...certainly less potent than the Hanssens I just tried. Definately some nice tartness, but nothing terribly extreme. Definately shrinks up the inside of your mouth...but not as seriously as the Hanssens. Get more funk here. More earthy dirt flavors. Get just barely a touch of the cherries. Just barely. More just a sour fruity tartness that I'm associated with cherries. Pretty dry but still a touch of sweetness in the finish. I'm hoping the Cantillon will be super duper bone dry. No lambic I've had has been super duper bone dry yet. Just a touch of the really nasties in the finish...enterics?? I'm glad those aren't more prominent. They are what I think really makes a lambic nasty...those really harsh plastic-y type notes that make me think of rot. I love the earthy horseyness and sharp tartness and sour. But its those nasty nasties that get me.
Mouthfeel is good but leaves me wanting. I want something else there...I imagine proteins play a big role in lambic mouthfeel as no residual sugar or starch would survive.
Pretty drinkable. I take back what I said about that in the Hanssen's review. I can give a lambic decent scores in this catergory. This brew is quite quenching with its fairly mellow hardcore funk and sharp, crisp tartness and earthy characteristics.

This is the quintessential Kriek. Having been a Kriek drinker for years that is really saying something. No it's not hyped like other beers, but it definitely deserves the highest praise. The problems with most other krieks ranges anywhere from a bold bitterness which results from the cherry pits to cloyingly sweet. The aging in the oak really rounded out and mellowed that flavor and this beer is fully attenuated so there is virtually no residual sweetness. The body is almost like velvet but still thin enough to make this beer insanely drinkable. Such a dark rich red color, its almost like a fine rose champagne, with the bubbles to match. The smell of vanilla oak and cherries hit. You drink in and are intoxicated with fresh juicy cherry essence. There is absolutely no trace of hotness in this beverage, you would think its alcohol free! the aftertaste is pleasant and sings of cherries. Perfection! I will be keeping this on stock as often as possible! Such a fine beverage.

375 ml bottle, poured in to my FW Barrelworks Teku
A - Deep dark rose, with a fluffy 3 finger head. This is a cherry looking beer, so cherry.
S - Canned cherry pie cherries, funk, and a touch of oak, mostly sweet pie cherries, smells like mom's cherry pie.
T - More of the canned cherry pie cherries, which I was not too fond of growing up. Though, if these cherries had the tartness here I would not mind so much. Subtle oak in the background tie together the tartness. Very balanced.
M - Puckering, effervescent, highly carbed - sour cherries and oak flicker and dance on the tongue.
Overall, this is a great fruit lambic. A spectrum of tastes, sweet, tart, oakey, it is all here and plays in a wonderful spectrum of flavors. Would highly recommend.

375ml bottle. Best before April 18 2032. Served in a Cantillon tasting glass
Appearance: Ruby red in color with 3 fingers of a pink head. Quite a bit of visible carbonation streaming throughout the glass. Body is hazy. Good head retention and lacing.
Smell: Tart and sweet cherries, basement, oak, vinegar.
Taste: Cherries, lots of cherry skin and juice, as well as oak, funk, and earth, but the cherries are the real star here. Sourness is on the lower end of medium.
Mouthfeel: Light bodied and crisp. The carbonation is high (a bit too high IMO) but still maintains somewhat of a soft mouthfeel. Finishes dry
Overall: One of the best, easily obtainable krieks around. The sourness and funk are more subdued, which allows the cherries to really shine through. At the same time it's stays away from being too sweet and artificial as some krieks tend to be. I'd definitely recommend trying this.

Dark garnet color, slightly hazy, with a reddish beige head that quickly dissipates to a ring.
Nose is redolent of fresh cherries, with a note of almond, vanilla, and oak. Nothing much funky in the smell.
Tastes of fresh sour red cherries, almond, old wood. Natural cherry tartness. Finishes a little dry.
Body is medium and carbonation is slightly fizzy, but it does go flat after a while. So the advice is to drink it quicker.
Overall, this is a very drinkable oude kriek. It is not very complex, funky, nor highly tart. But it is a pleasant kriek that really tastes of fresh cherries and respects tradition; it is delightfully not the cherry syrup or worse versions that are out there.

Tastes like carbonated berry juice. Not really my thing, but I'd be able to appreciate it more if it wasn't insanely bubbly, to the point where I had trouble swallowing it. Took about 5 sips and couldn't do more. Maybe I'll try other beers of this style, but this one really isn't for me.

This is an excellent brew. I had it a couple times in Turnhout, Belgium in March (2013).
This is a sour Kriek, with a definate tart taste of cherries. I am sitting here with a Sam Adams Cherry Wheat, and though ok, there is no comparison (the Sam Adams is sweet cherries + "natural flavors").
This was my favorite find this trip.

Served from a 12oz bottle into a Kriek Belle-Vue tulip.
Appearance- Dark hazy brownish/red with very thin pinkish head.
Smell- Cherry, funk, oaky vanilla, earthy yeast.
Taste- Tart up front, then cherry, funky yeast, something weird (in that order). Finishes very smooth with no tartness.
Mouthfeel- Not very carbonated, which is nice. Crisp and smooth. Not so tart that it makes my face change.
Overall- I was in the mood for nice fruity lambic and this is a niceone.
