A: Cola coloured with blood red highlights. Head diminished quickly, a light brown, not much left behind.
S: A nice roast malt with chocolate aromas. Pretty much exactly as the bottle describes of the brew.
T: Like the aroma, a moderately roasted malt - chocolate flavours, a slightly bitter finish.
M + D: Lightly carbonated, medium to heavier body. A little sticky, but alright. Not too bad, but about average. Worth a try.

From a bottle, pours a cola brown color with a very thin ring of head around the outside.
The smell is roasted malt, chocolate, a little smoke/toasty note, caramel and brown sugar. The flavor falls in line with the smell, mostly dark malt, caramel, vanilla, roasted oats, very toasty ending flavor. It is moderately sweet, less chocolate than I usually get in English porters. The mouthfeel is a bit thin, which would be an improvement area for me.
Overall, I liked this.

Poured a single bottle purchased from Zyn into an English pub glass. I should have bought a six pack because this brew is drinkable in quantity. A dark reddish brown porter, a bit on the light side, with around half an inch or so of tan foam. Smells like lightly roasted chocolate malt, with sweet, nutty, and earthy elements, maybe a hint of floral hops. Actually smells like the legit English examples albeit more subtle. Taste mirrors the aroma, with lightly roasted (almost green) coffee beans, caramel, milk chocolate, cola, tobacco, leather, and sweet molasses all blending together without obvious clashes. The cola taste does stand out to me, which is interesting. The malts got nuttier about half-way through the bottle and some bitter earthy hops emerge in the finish. The body is on the thin side and almost makes me feel a tad empty ... But the mouthfeel is smooth and does provide some chew. A very tastefully executed porter with considerable old world flavor. This is my last review of a Paddock Wood mainstay although I still have a few seasonals to track down. This brewery deserves more accolades than it receives. They really can brew to style and consistently produce flavorful offerings. It could be the Saskie bias talking but probably not. Skill is skill.

Paddock Wood Brewing 'London Porter' @ 5.2% , originally tried on tap @ GCBF/12 , this review from a 6pack of 335 ml bottles purchased for $13
A-pour is a dark brown , ruby red highlights with a small tan head leaving a sticky lace along the pint glass after every sip
S-roasted barley & malt , hint of chocolate
T-smooth chocolate malt thickness , some bitterness at the end
MF-low mild carbonation , medium bodied , ok on the palate
Ov-ok/good beer , not my fav but one of Canada's better Porter 6pack offerings
sampled alongside Deschutes 'Black Butte' , Mill St. 'Coffee Porter'
& Powell St. 'Dive Bomber' Porter

355 ml brown bottle with pry off cap poured in a pint glass. Part of a big box o beer variety 12 pack.
Dark borwn, almost black, cola like with a thin beige cap. No lacing to speak of.
Big malty aroma. Chocolate, vanilla, woody maly scents.
Robust roasted malts through and through. Hints if sweetness (chocolate).
Medium bodied and quite drinkable.
This won't knock your socks off but it's very steady and true to style.

Bottle acquired at the MLCC (Osborne) from a returned private order. Served at ~4-5C into a beer mug.
Pours a deep, dark brown with hints of brown around the edges. A nice tan head leaves minimal lacing. The nose has great notes of cocoa and coffee from the roasted malts, yet the body evidences little of that giving way more to molasses, yet lighter... Nice body that coast the mouth well. Enjoyable, especially as I am not one who really knows what makes a porter different than a stout nor is it a beer I normally reach for. This seemed thicker and had more character in the beer than a dry stout.
