It has been a couple years but as I recall this beer reminds me of Amstel Light, maybe a little more alcohol than Amstel. Not bad but I'm glad I didn't love it because this ain't no cheap beer. I think I paid $13 for a six pack. I guess my quest for a great Light beer will go on.

I really enjoy this beer. It has a nice color, and pours easy with a half inch of head. Nice color with moderate carbonation. I prefer it over the original Weihenstephaner, Hofbrau, or Spaten. Dry, crisp, malty, and biscuity taste. It goes down smooth with a pleasant finish with no after taste. Great session lager

Pours a sparkling, clear yellow with a thin head and no lace. The aroma is lemony with a hint of bread. The flavor is lemony with vanilla, dough, and honey notes. It's mouthfeel is light and refreshing. Augustiner Brau Munchen Light Export Beer is a decent beer, recommended.

Very pale yellow color with a foamy white head that is somewhat retained. Aroma is macro lager, the old hay/straw aroma with a hint of bread, some german malt/hop is present. Flavor is sweet with some maltiness and a bit of lagering flavor as well. Not terrible, but far from great.

served cold and poured into a pint glass.
i actually began and ended the night with this one. a nice little light beer to get me in the mood. pours out a light amber with nice head of white that managed to leave some good lacing down the glass throughout the session. smooth and easy on the palate in every way with light grassy notes, malty balance that is just sweet enough, a light and easy going feel and smooth, clean finish that has just a hint of dryness to it..

Augustiner Brau Munchen - Munich Light Export
Nice, traditional label. It pours a clear golden body beneath a bright white head of froth. The head retention is good, and the lacing about the glass is average.
In the nose it's malty with soft hop notes intertwined. They're floral and softly grassy.
The flavor reveals more character than the nose suggests, and it's clear that the malt is Munich malt. It's richly flavored, and nicely bready. The hops return, delivering more spice than floral or grassy character. It's perfectly balanced, and very nicely rounded, delivering all of its components throughout. The finish is dry, but the maltiness lingers behind, reminding you to take another sip.
In the mouth it's medium bodied with a fine-bubbled median carbonation that caresses the tongue.
Remarkably drinkable, this is a soft and smooth lager that I can't imagine anyone passing up - even those who love the more bitter and hoppy German lagers from the north.

Very clean body of pale pale pale yellow color. It has a nice bone white head on top that is not too big but not too small.
Smells appropriate to style. It has that grassy herbal hop aroma of a European lager. Slight malt/bread aromas coming through.
Very bready flavor from the get go. Somewhat bitter on the back end but much less than I expected. Very smooth and a bit dry. There's nothing crazy about it, but it is great. I can't find anything wrong with it except that it is kind of boring, but it's a lager.
Mouthfeel is very nice, not too full bodied. Extremely drinkable.

Good lager smell with small particles of yeast floating throughout the bottle. Very healthy level of carbonation with a clean and smooth mouth feel. Nothing extraordinary here but an overall great refreshing German lager. Best served ice cold on a hot day.

pours a clear golden yellow color.
A white head that fades as soon as its poured.
Smells like a light lager. A little lagery/bready sweetness.
Mouthfeel is very well carbonated. gentle bubbling all the way across the mouth. A crisp finish
Taste is pretty nice. Bready sweetness but light. Crisp tasting and pretty good per style. I would drink this one again.

A- light, yellow, clear, lots of carbonation
S- strong crisp smell, somewhat sweet
T- odd spice, metallic, not sweet, no memorable flavor
M- thin/watery, over-carbonated
D- Nothing special. Easy drink, but a weak lager, and not what I expected from it. Mostly carbonation and lack of any strong flavors.

A-Pale yellow, crystal clear. Huge white head.
S-Sulfur from the yeast. Light malt. No hops.
T-Grainy with a slight saccarine sweetness. Very low hop bitterness. No hop flavor. More sulfur.
M-Fairly dry. Medium carbonation. Very light on the palate. Nice.
D-This could be a great session beer (or maybe is before it makes its trip across the Atlantic), but there is a slight sweetness that makes this beer stick around on the palate too long.

Picked up at Rick's Wine & Gourmet in Alexandria, VA.
A: Pours a very light, transparent straw color with a small head for the style. Quickly recedes into a tiny ring around the edges of the glass.
S: Initial whiff is some sweet malted grain. A bit of a corn-type smell, but other than that no detectable vegetable presence, which is a big positive with this style.
T: Quite nice and refreshing. A mild sweet grain presence without any off flavors. Clean and crisp. An ever-so-slight hop bitterness with a tiny bit of corn.
M: Fairly thin and somewhat creamy. No alcohol presence for a "light lager" that's 5.7% ABV.
D: Not bad in the since that there's nothing particularly off about this one; at the same time, there's nothing memorable about it either. Interesting to try a more-authentic German take on the light lager category, but not something I'd pick up again.

Pours a clear, dark brown color with a clear amber color along the bottom of the glass. 1/4 inch head of a white color. Decent retention and decent lacing. Smells of pale malt, sweet malt, yeast, dark citrus, and slight raisin. Fits the style of a Light Lager. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of yeast, sweet malt, pale malt, slight hops, slight roasted malt, and a dark citrus. Overall, a surprisingly good light lager with lots of body and a good blend.

T - Sweet malt, honey, grass and bitterness at the end. Quite tasty.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a .5l stein.
Appearance: Clear as day light orange and yellow color. It yeilded a small 1 finger head that dissapated quickly but carried along some moderate lacing along the glass. Lots of bubbles at the bottom of the glass.
Smell: Amazing freshness comming through with citrusy peach smelling aromas. Nice fresh wheat and hops aromas comming through. Basically it smells like the freshest beer you have smelled.
Taste: Delicious. I love this beer. Its so fresh tasting its like your drinking it right out of the keg in Germany. Beautiful wheaty, almost hefeweizen like taste. Nice citrus and even a little bit of white grape flavors comming through. Mild sweetness enhanced with fresh tastes. Im blown away still at how much flavor its got for such a light colored beer, especially since its claimed to be the american "Light" export at 5.7%.
Mouthfeel: A little bit too carbonated. Lots and lots of bubbles. Hate to say it but its reminding me of budlight. Could definately benefit from letting it sit for a couple minutes before you start drinking. Its a light, lager style beer thats refreshing and reminds me of warmer weather but it can definately stand up during colder months.
Drinkability: Of course, its a light beer but its got a hidden 5+ almost 6% alcohol so its easy to session but it can catch us quick. Ive been drinking this stuff since i got back from Oktoberfest but its nothing like the Augustiner you get in germany. Still, nice beer with amazing flavors.

clear straw color, leaves a ring and some lace. bottle doesn't say export, says edelstoff
smell is of fresh grain and a fruity grassiness. the freshness is nice and the fruitiness unexpected. smells similar to a kolsch.
flavor like the smell, very fruity for a lager. fresh grapes, bright, somewhat crisp but slightly sweet finish.
a lighter bodied beer with abundant carbonation.
sure tastes light and refreshing for 5.7% abv. too bad there's that much alcohol. if this were 4 or so % would be a great summer guzzler.

I always see this beer and its 16 bucks a six pack. I bought one.
It pours a nice one finger head, pale sun yellow.
Smells like the bavarian wheat fields in which it was grown. Hops, malt, is good.
Tastes very sweet, again with the hops and malt. Dont know where one ends and the other begins thom yorke...
Very smooth aftertaste, full bodied.
This beer is better than Das Boot.

Appearance: Clear medium golden color, with a modest white head, slight carbonation, and thin, fine lacing.
Aroma: Mildly sweet malt, pleasant spicy herbal hop aroma, and a faint note of skunk.
Taste: Opens with mildly tart malt, and understated hops. Midway through the taste, some citric notes appear. Finishes with a mildly bitter metallic hop note.
Mouth feel: Smooth, pleasant, and fairly full.
Drinkability/notes: Well-crafted example of a nondescript style.
Thanks to Max for hand-carrying this beer from Germany.

Huge fan of the German beers. This one is one of my favorites. Great for drinking on a hot summer day...mmm.
Augustiner Helles is considered the favorite local beer in munich, and if you are ever in town, skip the Hofbrauhaus (with its loads of American tourists) and instead go to the Augustiner Garten. Much better atmosphere and much better beer.
Just great overall.

Aroma: Mild skunk nose from the brown bottle. Cracker malt base, hops are leafy and noble.
Appearance: Bright clear pale yellow glass that gives no head.
Flavor: Skunk, hops are full and spicy. Malt is substantial given the style.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, a bit of grain in the texture.
Overall Impression: Malt Liquor? Maybe the German version. Solid beer none the less.
Big thanks to Max for hand carrying this back from Europe!

I picked this up without ever hearing about the beer and just thinking it had an interesting label.
It poured yellow with a decent white head and a slight sweet and malty smell that is not very common with American lagers.
The taste is light with some wheat & fruit undertones. No real aftertaste and an overall good experience. I plan on trying this again sometime soon.

Well, a new favorite. Very enjoyable German Lager. Though most are average, this is a standout. Citrus and herbal aromas abound from an almost sparkling carbonation, and through a bleached white 1/2" head. The hops make a better than usual presence--noble in quality. Tastes moderately malty and not as grainy as expected. No real vegitol flavors detected at all. Instead, a lemony, grapefruity, orange peel like flavor abounds. Condensed with solid hop bittering makes for a very clean, crisp and smooth beer. The body is moderate to light, not to weigh too heavily on the mouth. This is a very good beer for the style.

Super pale straw yellow in color. Tiny bubbles of carbonation rising to the surface.
Fluffy white head. Sticky lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smells fruity and a bit wine- like. No sulphur.
Tastes superb. This is a very delicate beer that was brewed to absolute perfection. No sulphur in the nose or mouth. Not even a hint of diacetyl.
Sweet mouthfeel. Slightly chewy but with a crisp, clean finish.
Give me a cold case of this an a warm summer day and I'm in heaven.
