Pours a nice milk-chocolate brown color with a dense bone-color tan head forming at the surface quickly and almost overflows my tulip glass. Dissipates rather quickly leaving little cling to a surface layer atop my brew. Not much light gets through the body.

Quite aromatic. At first, I get a chocolate maltiness along with a hint of toffee. The oats come through after along with a bit of floral hops. Not as milky as expected on the nose.

Sipping reaveals a very non-sweet bitterness of the hops right away, but it gives way to a powdered bakers' chocolate flavor as well as the oatmeal comes through as well toward the finish. A nice aftertaste of sweeter chocolate and oatmeal comes through 5 seconds after the swallow leaving a nice flavor on my palate.

Body is quite watery. I was expecting a bit more body considering it's a stout, but overall, not bad. Carbonation is well-balanced with the flavors at 60 degrees (temp I drank it).

Very drinkable. Not too sweet, and light on the belly. A 6-pack would NOT be out of the question.

look: 3 | smell: 3 | taste: 2 | feel: 1.75 | overall: 2

Appearance: dark brown with weak lacing that disappears rather quickly.

Smell: Roasted malts, oatmeal and chocolate. Small notes of something fruity that I can't quite put my finger on... lemon, perhaps? After a few whiffs I realize that this smells a lot lighter than a lot of stouts I've had.

Taste: something pretty disappointing. Once you get past the obvious malts, oatmeal and chocolate, I swear that this tastes like a wine. Almost tastes sour.

Mouthfeel: not exactly an explosion of amazement. Dry and thin. Very little thickness to this beer.

Overall, I'm a sucker for a stout, so you could say I'm biased. However, any bias that I DO have has very little bearing on my final judgment of this brew. Not crazy about it at all. No stout should ever finish this dry and wine-esque.

look: 2.5 | smell: 3 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 2.75 | overall: 3.25

Appearance: Pours a very dark brown color…it was very bubbly upon pouring, but now has settled…head is light khaki and super thin…the beer looks kinda thin overall…(2.5/5)

Smell: Roasted malts, dry milk chocolate and oats up front…there’s some caramel and light brown sugar notes in there as well…but it doesn’t take long to catch the lighter side of this brew…it’s got an airy, citrus quality that prevents any real robustness…balanced, though very light…(3/5)

Taste: Huh…tons of lemon and grape zest right away…it’s got a crisp, white wine taste right off the bat…there’s definitely oatmeal and roasted malt flavors, but they’re almost playing a background role…this may be one of the lighter stout I’ve ever had…it’s very zesty, bubbly, tart flavor…(3.5/5)

Mouthfeel: Light body with light carbonation…what carbonation that does exist brings a white wine dryness to the palate…it’s really an intriguing chocolate oatmeal stout, there’s absolutely no creaminess about this brew at all…more lemon, white wine dryness well into the after taste…(2.75/5)

Overall: This is an interesting brew…it’s super light for a chocolate oatmeal stout…I was expecting something a lot thicker, something to sip on…what I got here is a crisp, white wine crossed with a mild oatmeal and even milder chocolate stout…the biggest positive to this brew is that it’s lighter body and lower ABV means this is a nice bon fire brew…I would try it again out of the tap because the flavor isn’t bad…an interesting take on this style stout…(3.25/5)

I grew up in VT and high hopes for this beer. It poured almost flat with an anemic dark brown color. The taste is indescribable. It's not even beer. I don't know what it is. I'm 58 y/o, if this is beer, the world is in a lot of trouble. This is the worst beer I have ever had in my life.I dumped most of it down the drain. If this brewery is successful, there is a good chance someone could start brewing with no experience and do better than this. This is no Switchback.

Pours dark brown with a skim whitish head. No lace.

Some floral and candied notes of chocolate and coffee in the nose.

Lean flavors, with light coffee and bitter chocolate. Light bitter finish. Reminds me of a thin porter at best. Needs some heart in this. Not horrible, but very subdued.

Thin, a bit watery.

Overall, not a great stout. THe flavor comes up short, as does body. By itself, just ok, but these brewers should fear direct comparisons.

Poured from a bottle into a tumbler pint, the beer is a watery dark brown coloring that pushes into black with not a lick of head on the surface of the beer. Aromas are a light cocoa nib bittersweet highlighting a dark, roasty, smokey coffee backbone. Flavors are watery and sharp, with the increased carbonation robbing some of the flavor profiles. Nutty sweet backbone and a slight roasting end up weakly trying to provide some substance to the flavor profiles. Watery body with no trace of cling on the glass, the aftertaste ends up being a muddled, semisweet tangy flavor that really isn't overly pleasant. Cloying, watery, and lingering finish make this beer a tough one to finish. Boo.

A dark brown, nearly black beer, with a smallish head that settles quickly. Patchy lacing. The aroma is simple but appealing; lots of chocolatey malt. That’s it. Unfortunately the taste fails to deliver much on that or any other front; it’s thin and watery and pretty lacking in flavor overall. A bit of chocolate malt, not much in the way of either sweetness or bitterness. Quite bland. The mouthfeel is likewise very thin and watery with assertive carbonation. No trace of oatmeal in the feel or taste. Kind of like a light chocolate beer soda. Disappointing.
