Located in a plaza type of setting this place has a Brewpub appeal. One passes by the windows to the fermenter room and the open kitchen to sit at the bar. There is a barrel chart above the door entering the fermenter room. The bar faces the fermenter room and has a couple of TV's but the focus is beer.
Appeared to have all brass tap nozzles; wooden tables, stools, chairs, booths, and bar; open kitchen with a real grill and brick oven; and a clean unisex restroom downstairs and more restrooms upstairs. There was a patio with wooden tables and chairs in the back toward the inner part of the plaza - open mall. Also had an isolated area for darts.
Service is allright, some drama, however can be prompt.
There is a good selection of their own beers including two cask options. I've never seen a cask poured with two pumps and no head as it were with both their IPA and Stout also neither had lacing. A possible notable would be the Saison.
Food is good and fresh with some healthy options.

Stopped by on a lazy Tuesday afternoon at the shopping center-like area where the Marin Brewing Co resides. The patio was open, so we sat outside, where most of their customers were as well.
Tuesday all day is $3 pints. All right.
From reading previous reviews about how the advertised selection differs from what's actually available before making the trip, I was not surprised to have this confirmed. They only had 7 of their beers available for take-out bombers. Prices for bottles to go are good, $3 for most 22oz bombers.
They did have about 10 beers on tap, which I think is impressive for any brewpub. Had the Albion Amber, which was (just) OK. Wheatwine to go.
The food menu was large and fairly pricey, although the clientele is probably not taken-aback by it. My friend had the cobb salad, that looked lifeless. I had the garlic fries -- which were good, with chopped fresh garlic and parsley.
Staff was more or less friendly, but not overly so. They seemed a bit bored perhaps. But pretty good service, although our server didn't realize that the pints were discounted, nor did she know what bottles they had in stock, nor did she have any idea if they had anything on cask (they didn't).
Probably not a must-visit in the Bay Area.

The third stop on the great 2004 Sonoma County Beer Run. (The first 2 stops were both previously reviewed)
Located in a little walking mall area just around from the ferry landing (should you want a different experience of crossing the golden gate area)
As you walk in the front doors you're greeted by a brew deck to the left and a large set of medals, ribbons and awards to the right. The foyer leads to a long bar area of the same width with a large restaurant seating area wrapping off to the right and leading to a patio. Lots of your typical beer bar decorations with sports gear abounding.
Seating ourselves at the bar, my travelling companion, D, and I grabbed a gander at a decent pub-grub menu (with more seafood). I decided to grab a sampler platter. At first glance the sampler menu laid before you seems terribly intimidating with over 15 beers listed. (Un)fortunately, the sampler actually only came with 8 beers that were available.
While D, the wonder navigator, sucked back a pint of the Breakout Stout we ordered up a mess of mussels steamed in their pale ale.
Service was compentant and efficient, but didn't really do anything to pull great notice. The hostesses were nice in providing us with an opportunity to slide around the brew deck.
All in all.. decent beer, decent grub, decent location.. decent place.

Typical brewpub atmosphere but the beers were outstanding. They also have beers in bottles available to go. You can take the ferry from San Fran and then it is a short walk to the brewpub. Food was typical brewpub grub. Many of the beers were very high in Alc so be careful if you drive there. The wheatwine is outstanding. This is a hard to find beer style that is like a barleywine but smoother. Highly recomended that you try it.

Marin county is the yuppie land of BMW"s Lexus, and stinking cell phones. This brewpub is a stones throw from the infamous San Quentin prison. Went there for lunch and found it a very acceptable pub. The beer is very good, The Mt. Tam Pale Ale being notable. Food was great and plentiful. Service fast and friendly, though the waitress could not tell me what type of stout the San Quentin stout was. All in all a nice place and I think one we will go back to.

I visited on a busy Memorial Day Weekend '02. We sat at the bar.The bar was nice oak, long, and comfortable. The bartender was very friendly and informative. We ordered the 8 beer sampler and he took the time to explain each one. My girlfriend loved the peach ale. I thought I was going to pass into beer heaven when I had the Cask IPA sample, then ordered the pint. Unbelievable. The bar was packed, everybody looked happy. They also have several of their styles ready to go in bottles, either chilled or room temprature. Try the Cask IPA and the Blueberry/Stout mix. Worth the trip. Cheers to Marin Brewpub !
