22 ounce bottle from lou91 during XBIF39! Thanks!
Appearance: Golden copper cloudy "wheaty" looking beer. Great off-white lacing left on the glass throughout the drinking of Star Brew.
Aroma: Sweet caramel fruitiness. There are some banana-ish notes. Perhaps the yeast is contributing some spicyness as well.
Taste: The caramel sweetness hits hard and quick. Mouthfeel is spot on, but the finish is a bit sweet and cloying. The spices and fruitiness are pleasant.
Notes: This beer definitely does not taste like it could be 10%. The fruitiness is pleasant, but maybe a little over the top. And I wish it finished a tiny bit dryer. But overall it was nice and easy to drink.

Short lived white head, dull orange body. Thin collar.
Wheat, lemony aromas.
Pretty boozy. Orangey citrus. Drinks above its stated abv.
Full mouthfeel, adequate carbonation.
Well obviously I suck at reviewing wheatwines because I'm not pulling much out of this guy besides an all encompassing citrus and alcohol. I like it overall. Need more wheatwines apparently. kojevergas...thanks bud!

Marin Star Brew. 2010 vintage. Tapped at a SoCal beer bar during a barleywine event. Reviewed from notes taken last weekend. Served on-draught into a New Belgium stem-goblet.
A: Pours a half finger head of beige colour, nice cream and thickness, and bad (~30 second) retention. Little lacing. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show. Body colour is a vibrant copper. Transparent; opaque.
Sm: Clean floral hops, juicy citrus fruit esters, and evocative bright fruit. Clean. I don't get much wheat - at least not in a hefeweizen sense; the filtration might have something to with that. Strawberry fruit notes. A bit of clove. Not much yeast or alcohol comes through. Complex and inviting.
T: Juicy citrus and floral esters, with some light spicy phenols as well. Balanced and refreshing, with a clean wheat and barley build. Pleasant and tasty. I quite like it. Little yeast or alcohol comes through. Clove. Perhaps light strawberry, but maybe hop-emergent. Not real malty at all; the wheat gives it a good body without drawing too much attention to itself. I like that subtlety a lot.
Mf: Smooth, wet, clean, and refreshing. Light in body for a wheatwine. It suits the flavour profile well. Juicy. Perfect carbonation. Good palate presence. Wow.
Dr: Highly drinkable for the ABV; I could easily down a bomber of this. Hides its ABV well. I'd definitely have it again. One of the better beers I've had from Marin. Refreshing and enjoyable. One of the better wheatwines in recent memory.

A- Fairly hazy, golden hue on the pour. About a 1.5 finger head that retains and laces very well. Continuous carbonation trails during the whole drink.
S- Light, crisp, and refreshing. Reminds you of the typical Belgian witbiers, but with more complexity. Hints of a few hops are in there, but nothing too bittering. Some grassy notes even peek in.
T- Light and crisp again like the scent, but a little heavier towards the end. Wheat takes over the middle part of the drink with a lighter flavor profile that lingers on the back of your tongue. Malt presence is also felt towards the end, with some heavier flavor notes and a few hints of hops. Ends fairly dry.
M- Fairly carbonated and a little heavy on the alcohol. Fairly creamy and not too bad to drink for a while.
Overall, this is a good beer, but didn't blow me away. A solid beer if you're looking for something different.

A: Hazy, golden, slightly orangish color, with very little head.
S: Banana bread aaand...banana bread.
T: Starts with banana and finishes with some hoppy, nutty touches.
M: Slightly creamy but breaks up with some nice mild carbonation.
O: The banana aspect to it is interesting and well on this side of overwhelming. I'd appreciate a bit more complexity but it's totally satisfying. More of a tripel than a wheat.

Rich and tangy strong brew. Clear bright amber in the Affligem chalice. Proper head and nice lacing.
Surprising resemblance to alcoholic apple juice. Quite fruity, but clean and clear. flavors, missing any sort of yeasty nonsense. Fairly sweet, with a winey body. Strong boozy scent with mangoes.
Quite drinkable if you like a strong wheat flavor. Much less sweet and hoppy than typical barley wines. Reminds me of the honey flavor of mead. From the 22 oz bottle.

Fresh 22 Bomber.
-Clear, deep gold color.
-Light-medium head.
-Aroma was melon? There's definitely an almost tropical fruit smell in there, with some malt and alcohol poking through afterward.
-Taste started sweet fruit and malty and rolled into a more heavy and alcohol finish.
-Mouth feel was interesting in that the carbonation kicks in a bit earlier-than-expected during the half way mark into the taste. Making it a bit crisp in the finish as well.
An interesting beer to drink, not sure if it would be a "go-to" but if it's on the menu and you got the cash, go for it.

Thanks to my wandering Mule League exile, lurpy1, for bringing this back to the Twin Cities: I've enjoyed a lot of CA goodness out of your suitcase. Now, go somewhere else for work please! 22 oz. bottle poured into two frost-rimmed mugs (OK, not really).
Pour is a burnished oak, I actually held it up to the trim in the house, virtually identical in color. Clear, no bottom-boogers. Nose comes only after fifteen or so minutes of warming, sweet, toffee, slight wheat, but I have to dig my nose into the liquid to get anything; not a strong point.
Marin Star Brew-Triple Wheat Ale is like a weizenbock with a mortar. Sweet, sweet, sugar-reduction-drenched bananas skewer the palate. Calling all insulin, calling all insulin. After the shock wears off, this is chock full of subtle niceties. Background wheat, element of molasses/syrup, caramel, & lovely herbal hops touch at the finish. Almost Belgian in feel, but heavier, more serious. Alcohol...yes, I feel you. I feel the ambiance of an after-dinner liqueur, & one that I'd be downing rapidly.
This is one hefty, lovely, sweet, complex mofo of a brew, & just how a wheatwine should taste. A standard-bearer for the style, this is one of the best examples I've had to date & an excellent all-around beer.
