Appearance: Clear medium amber in color, with a modest white head, which soon fades to a dusting of foam. Thin, fine-beaded lacing is scattered in patches on the glass walls.
Aroma:Rich toasted malt and caramel dominate the aroma. There is also a strong nutty aroma.
Taste: Opens with abundant toasted malts. As the taste progresses, some roasted flavors become evident. AS the taste progresses, slightly burnt flavors are evident. Later in the taste, there are hints of dark fruit. Finishes with mild, lingering burnt notes.
Mouth feel: Soft, and a bit thin, with slight carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: Pleasant and drinkable, a decent session beer.
Presentation: Packaged in a short twelve-ounce brown glass bottle with a pry-off crown, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

Sep. 2013, probably brewed by Caledonian then: Sample from bottle at Vectura tasting. Brown colour. Some caramel and toffee in the aroma, not unpleasant. The flavour has also caramel and toffee, but also some moderately roasty notes. A moderate but sharpish and slightly metallic bitterness in the finish. Drinkable (if for free), but not something I’d spend money on.

The Newcastle Brown Ale tastes a whole lot better.
Something off with this beer.

An earthy, chalky, dirty, smokey taste. All followed by a burnt caramel follow through.
Taste Rating in Words: Crumble a cigarette in dirt add a pinch of caramel and go in head first.

Aroma Is rye,toasted malt, caramel.
Look: Dark brown color. Small white head.
Taste is a little bit off ash with other flavors in aroma.
feel: Thin beer, refreshing; little carbonation.
Very simple, but I kind of like it.

Has the appearance of a Heineken with a little bit of food coloring added. Tastes like a mass produced European beer with a touch of roasted barley and some sort of adjunct added. Bitter hops flavoring that is powerful and doesn't match the style. Odd carbonation with a weak head, low alcohol, and a thin body. An embarrassment really. And to think I could have just reached for the regular Newcastle instead.
