This beer is a traditional Dutch bockbier and recipes change every year. The Heineken Tarwebock (wheat bock) is without any exception sweet and sticky.

Appearance is red/brown, with no head to speak of.

Smell is caramellic and roasted with a small hint of cherries.

Taste is SWEET!, holy crap this stuff is even sweeter than I thought, sticky on the lipps. All this sweetness overrules any other taste, but I am still able to pick up the roasted and dark malts. It tastes like the fermentation has been stopped prematurely. What an incredible sweetness, almost like molasses have been thrown into water and partly fermented. I can hardly get my lipps apart.

Had the 2016 edition. Orange colour and a very modest head of foam. Quite (too?) light for a bock. Smell is okay: cream and caramel. Not very complex or outspoken though. Taste is utterly terrible. A intensely sweet malty profile that dominates everything. No, strike that: not even malty, just sweet. Like drinking fondant. There is some salmiak way in the back, but that's it. Aftertaste is basically absent. Mouth feel is very watery as well. Judging from other ratings: could it be that 2016 is a very bad year for the Heineken Tarwebok?

Pretty good beer. Head not very strong, creamy. Aroma: sweet and gentle coffee. The flavor is "thick", slightly bitter, caramel and a little coffee. Drink a light and pleasant

Heineken Tarwebok. Poured into a shaker pint.

No yeast in the bottle turns a dark red cola colored beer very clear. Almost a finger of light pinkish tan head.

Dark bready wheat aromas with hints of apparent cardboard oxidation. Fruit notes are sluggish, but I can detect some prune and date. Slight clove and extremely overripe banana.

Flavors are richer than the nose could have warmed. Sweet buttered toast, plum, clove, phenols, German-inspired maltiness, anise, and finishing spiciness from the alcohol. Faint brown banana. Long yeasty finish; dank cobweb yeast, not the powdery kind.

Wet and wooly. Nice alcohol presence. Softly carbonated. The feel really works.

I can't believe I'm enjoying this beer. Tarwebok is an okay weizenbock. Try it.

Autumn has come again and brings back all the bock beers that I prefer over the spring bocks, to be honest.
Bottle of 300 ml, poured into a snifter glass. I like the bottle's label and the crown cap, with the goat head on it and all that.
Beer has a deep ruby colour, that looks almost brown without a light source against it. Onr finger of beige head, that disappeared quickly, leaving just some light lacing behind and some bubbles on the beer's surface.
Aroma is mostly caramel, roasted malts and some chocolate. A light smell of alcohol too.
On the taste, a toffee flavour is dominant, along with mocha and bitter chocolate. Quite sweet, saved by the aftertaste which is more bitter.
Medium to full body with average carbonation.
Overall a good beer, and the ABV of 6,5% doesn't seem to be that obvious, which in combination with its sweetness, makes it more an everyday bock beer for me.
