Stopped in to check out the beer selection during our walk around Fells Point. The place is bright and has a smallish bar just past the tables in the front. The place was empty for a late Friday afternoon except for some locals having a heated political discussion.
Out of 12 or so taps the only beer that caught my attention was the Brewers Art Resurrection. Plenty of macros here. I had a pint and it was fresh.
Bartneder was friendly and prompt, but I didn't see a need to discuss beer with him based on the selection. I did not try any food. This is not a beer destination among all the other fine drinking establishments in the area.

We had just had predrinks at Wharf Rat and had a disappointing dinner at John Stevens (they fancied up their menu and got rid of all the affordable, tasty stuff) so we were looking for a nice bar to have a few brews. Dead End is off the well beaten track in Fells, way down the road in the middle of the block. I had recently unsuccessfully tried to drunkenly talk several people into buying the place (it could be yours for the low low price of $800K...)
Increased points for ambience. It is Fells Point at its finest. Locals come in to drink good cheap beer, and play pool, video poker, and/or Galaga. (I mean real locals, not the well healed new folks who only leave their expensive faux old houses to eat tapas up the street) Since I was last here, the place appears to have gotten a once over with a cleaning brush. Unlike Cat's Eye, the flags on the ceiling are clean and appear to be changed often. Old school beervertisements on the walls and a very interesting circa-70's natty boh fridge shaped like a beer bottle. The tables and chairs look like what you would expect in a VFW hall.
Beer selection lost points. Although there are 12-15 taps, the only quality brews were a Hoptical Illusion, BaltoMarzHon and Resurrection. They used to have a heavy lineup--just look at the old tap handles hanging teasingly on the ceiling behind the bar--they could do much better.
Service is basically average for a beer geek. They do have the highlight of being scrappy locals. Nice folks that you can talk to, but they aren't too familiar with the brews. They get an extra half point for steering me AWAY from their house brew--some sort of light beer made by Dominion, not suggested. If you sweet talk skinny Katie, you may get some free brews, but you didn't hear it from me.
Food is pub grub, Baltimore style. It will be average in quality, but you will get a lot of it. From gigantic cheese fries to the occassional soft crab sandwich, I can't say I've ever been let down.
Overall, only worthwhile if you are looking to increase your karma and hit all the bars in Fells. Also worthy if you are looking for a somewhat quiet joint to play pool on the weekend. The jukebox and cheap play will sucker you in for hours.

This is a great water front pub, where you will not find many tourists. They have a decent selection of beers, and there food is pretty good. I have taken people there who come to town for the weekend and want some good grub and some beers, and no one has ever been unhappy. My mom and sister, who do not frequent pubs, loved it. They loved the food and the atmosphere. The staff is friendly. Their selection is the typical beers most places have on tap, but they always have a rotating selection of a few good beers/micro-brews. They have a bomber special on Fridays. Not great beers, but for $2 I will drink a Heineken or St Pauli Girl Bomber.
