A- Clear amber, a hint of orange. Head is one and a half fingers thick. Decent retention and a wisp of lacing.
S- Aroma is not all that great. Grainy, a bit of malt, and faint fruity hops.
T- Thin malts. There is some grainy note and just a bit of citrus hops. Very mellow and not much flavor to it.
M- Light, thin body. Carbonation is aggressive.
O- Eh, it's an interesting take on the gluten free beer, but it's only average or below to me.

A - light orangish amber with a thin, white layer of head
S - bready and sweet
T - bready, sweet, very faint bitterness
M - light to medium bodied, well carbonated, smooth
I'm a bit beside myself with this one. I can't believe it's gluten free. I buy every gluten free beer I see for my wife, and this is by far one of the best. It's one-dimensional for sure, but that one dimension is bready, tasty malt. My wife liked it as well so I'll be buying this again.

Pours a clear, copper color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Decent retention and slight lacing. Smells of citrus hops, slight floral hops, sweet malt, and a hint of alcohol. Fits the style of an American Pale Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, citrus hops, slight floral hops, hint of pale malt, and a hint of alcohol. The body is a little quick to dissipate, but otherwise decent aroma, feel, and blend.

12 oz single from Trader Joes ,Salem OR. $1.17 Nice clear golden ale with a good sized frothy white head. Aroma mostly floral/grassy hop sweet shortbread malt aromas. Taste is a combination of the sweet malt and floral hop its OK but missing a whole lot of substance ( i guess gluten is good for something) Its not bad and rather drinkable yet pretty uninspired. But had i celiacs disease this would be nice.

Pours a really nice golden orange with a one finger plus head. Decent retention, and a nice lace. Nose is of bready malts, with notes of fruity citrus hops. Body is on the heavier side of medium with some carbonation. Taste is a really good balance of malt and hops. Grapefruit in the finish. Nice Gluten free or not.

Pours a nice golden orange color, nice carbonation, nice little fizzy white head, with some sticky lacing left behind. The nose is malty, with a nice touch of hops, some slight citrus notes. The taste is mostly malty, but some hops in there, and citrus. Medium body, with a slight bitter/dry finish. Overall for a GF brew, I was quite surprised for sure, not bad at all.

Bottled June 1, 2012:
Into my nonic:
A: golden orange body leaves a one finger white head appears and lasts for about twenty seconds. No carbonation is seen rising. No lacing is left behind.
S: centers around yeasty bread and pine. Some other citrusy notes come out as the beer warms.
T: pine and hops up front giving a slight zesty appeal. Some floral citrusy tones come out stronger as the beer warms.
M: medium with nothing harsh on the tongue.
O: even though I bought this by accident, this isn't bad. If I ever had a problem with wheat, I wouldn't mind drinking this for the rest of my life.

New 12oz on the local shelves, I'm in.
A- Pint glass receives an amber pale ale with a creamy white head. The size of the cap is about one finger and retention is decent. Nice spotty lace down and around the glass.
S- An inviting nose lending notes of yeast bread, some sort of grain, citrus fruits and other light fruit like apple. Actually pretty well rounded for any Pale Ale. Hint of tropical fruit is nice.
T- Hops take on more of a presence here. They give hints of citrus zest, pine, earth and floral qualities. The Barley/wheat omission is felt here as the balance is thrown off just a tad. Yeast bread and light fruits hang around on the palate. Not sure what alternate sugar source they use but something grainy and nutty is lingering.
MF- Light bodied and highly carbonated, maybe a bit much as it singes the palate quite a lot. Nice clean bitterness left after sipping.
As far as a Pale Ale goes, this is pretty good. I have not had a ton of gluten free beers but I would certainly recommend this and Celia by the Alchemist to people with intolerance.

Attractive amber in the Pilsner glass. Doesn't smell like much, but pleasant lip-smacking maltiness.
Some rich and malty flavors, more like a pale bock beer. Spicy and moderately hopped. Thoroughly pleasant and warmly flavored. A little butter and slight vegetable flavors. Faintly murky but no real off flavors. Appealing beery in every way.
I hope we don't have to have a special category for no gluten beers, but if we did this would be the gold medal winner. It is interesting in proving that barley is the right grain for making beer. Well, I like wheat and rye too, but let's skip the millet and sorgum.
Widmer proves again they are a top-notch brewery with some of the most capable technology in the business.

12 oz bottle was poured into a pint glass.
Appearance: The beer poured a small head that has reduced quickly to a thin layer. It is a light orange color with crystal clear clarity and plenty of carbonation coming up through the glass.
Smell: pretty light aroma. Some bready and caramel notes along with a little citrus. Understanding that it might be tough for a GF pale ale beer.
Taste: some fruity and citrus notes, caramel, bready, and creamy notes follow
Mouthfeel: smooth, light bodied, medium carbonation, a somewhat extremely easy to drink.
Overall: A good spin on the APA fomrat for being a GF beer. I would drink it again, but there are other ones I would go with over this.

My wife was recently put on a "no gluten" diet for her thyroid problems.... She isn't going to die from wheat products, but she is embracing it pretty hard. We pretty much always have "gluten free" beers in the fridge anymore.... And, I sample them all.. but Widmer seems the only couple right now that make enjoying gluten free beer worth it.
Nose is thin malt.... some hints of caramel.. very minor pale maltiness... some hints of tropical fruits and citrus... a bit of toasty malt with warmth..
Flavor is better... hops are fruity.... citrus and tropical... but still very minor.... As expected, the malt profile is thin... but much more like a standard Pale Ale.. I've had much worse pale ales that were all "malt" and full hops.
Not bad.... seriously... not bad at all.

A: Pours a clear copper color with a decent head that fades to some lacing.
S: Mild aroma of malt sweetness some citrus and and spice.
T: Fairly mild flavor of malt sweetness and some citrus. Muted bitterness and a clean finish.
F: Fairly medium body, smooth and clean. Seems to be lacking something, not bad but seems to be bland.
D: Decent drinker, not bad for the type of beer that it is.

12 oz. bottle,
A: Pours a clear amber with a medium white head, solid head retention, spotty lace.
S: Tropical fruits (passion and pineapple), with some grassiness.
T: Bright fruit flavour, stone fruit with a hint of lime, some orange peel.
M: Crisp carbonation, lightly frothy, light-bodied, fairly robust for a gluten-free beer.
O: I didn't know it was gluten free when I bought it, and in the taste you'd never know. Just a solid APA, not as good as Drifter, but pretty good, up there with Mirror Pond, in fact quite similar.

Intrigued by their attempt, apparently a new process allows for a more authentic profile.
Pours orange amber with an etched surface. Nice nose up front, crisp and hoppy with apple and grapefruit. Some tea and malty undertones. Flavor is malty (not expected) and sweet with herbal and bitter hop components. I'm down with the flavor here, really approachable! Medium bodied with hi carb and a semi dry finish. Great quality, surprised, gonna have to try the lager.
I'm happy to see a gluten free option sans shitty flavor. Well considered and thoughtfully crafted. I expect this to be a limited addition to the line in lieu of the gluten free craze sweeping the US right now, but it's a welcome one in my opinion. A great option for the celiac's right here folks.

Appearance: (3.5)
- This has a rather dark amber appearance, kind of like their Drifter. A little darker than I like a pale to be. It's rather clear, and had about a finger of spotty foamy head that settles to a thin spotty layer with light chunky lace about the glass.
Smell: (3.5)
- The smell is quite simple. Light sweet caramel malt with a light zesty hop aroma. Little floral, but mainly some pine, and an earthy quality. Little biscuit and bread. Smells balanced at least.
Taste: (3.0)
- Pretty light caramel flavor, and just lightly sweet. Certainly some big bready notes, and rather light on the hops. The hops up front have a little floral and grassy quality, and finishes with a bitter grassy touch with a zingy spice. Not bad, but pretty average. Compared to most gluten-free beers, I am sure this just smashes them.It has a certain tart flare to it.
Mouth Feel: (3.5)
- Pretty medium bodied and a touch drying. Well carbonated, and pretty basic.
Overall: (3.5)
- This is solid, and quite balanced.. and yes, it is missing something. Gluten. I am simply just judging the beer for what it is compared to all other beers, and both Omission beers are the only gluten-free beers I have had. I would be afraid to try any of the others on the market. It's a solid drinker, and I would drink one if it was handed to me. Sure to be a true delight for one whom can't enjoy a regular beer.
