Beer poured a pale straw color with bright white head. Aroma was corn. Taste was very similar to an adjunct lager. Not very assertive in flavor. Mouthfeel was thin and drinkability very high. Overall I was fairly dissappointed with this one. Taste was too much like a bud miller coors product but at a much higher price. These types of beers definitely have their place, but are available at much lower cost.

Opened a 12 oz. bottle on a surprisingly cool March Saturday, after a bit of yardwork. NCAA Tournament on TV. Poured to a pint glass.

A: Pale yellow /'straw' color. Bright white head of crackling foam, halts just shy of a finger tall, drops quickly. Steady carbonation, almost clear but the the faintest dusting of haze. Once the head disappears, there's nothing that sticks - no lacing, no skim, no rings, nothing. Starts well, but in the end: Average.

S: Decent aroma: lightly-toasted grains, understated sweetness/floralness. Modest strength.

T: Light cereal grain some honey, mild apple fruitiness and a crackery conclusion. Hay/cut grass and small lemony twist. Balanced. Flavorful.

M: Crisp feel, less 'creamy' smooth than most I've tried of the style. I like it a lot - very refreshing, light, clean. Dry bitterness in the finish. A slight bit of stickiness/gumminess.

O: What an enjoyable pour, among the best I've had for the style. So 'spring'-like. I'd be happy to have this again.

049 13 Julian date on bottle.

A - Clear as crystal, Coon Rock pours a golden blonde color that's capped by a fleeting stark white head. The resulting skim of foam stays on the beer but there's not a speck of lace to be found on the pint.

S - Candi sugar notes and pilsner malt open Coon Rock with a noticeable sweetness that's further accented by sugary white grape and a touch of green apple skin. Wheat, husky pale malt, and that green apple skin which also imparts some tartness all balance the sweetness out with a lack of hop aroma, though faint herbal qualities shine through on the finish.

T - Dry grainy pale malt hits first, quickly changing over to the sweet pilsner malt flavor and ensuing fruit characteristics, though the white grape is far less sweet in flavor. More apple skin emerges with some tartness as this cream ale finishes dry and grainy again, lingering with notes of herbal hops.

M - Light bodied and surprisingly thin feeling for the beer's residual sweetness, Coon Rock washes down nice and easy with a light carbonation crispness and lingering dry, grainy finish.

O - The every man's beer for knocking around when some crisp refreshment is needed, Coon Rock doesn't aim to impress with crazy specialty malts or hop additions; it's just a simpleton. Simple, tasty, and refreshing.

This poured out as a clear looking yellow color. A thin white fizzy head on top that settling into a scattered film on top of the beer. No lacing and minimal retention. The smell of the beer is a little grassy, smells similar to some German Lager's out there. Not typically what I was expecting from a Cream Ale. The taste of the beer was slightly sweet with a decent graininess to it. The finish has a subtle bitterness to it but nothing overwhelming. The mouthfeel is crisp and clean, easy to drink and moderately refreshing. Overall it's a decent cream ale, I feel that it should be so grassy though, it should be more sweet on the nose and less Lager-like.

Poured into a Pumking glass on 8/25/12

Dirty gold and light orange color; in haziness it wants to look like pineapple juice, but doesn't quite get there. Thin, white layer of foam become a ring of foam and island skim.

Cream ale aromas seldom excite me but, while this one isn't anything astounding, it's at least interesting. Cereal grains with a faint sweetness, hints of yeast and light fruits, and a modest hop blend - floral, grass and faint citrus.

The taste is similar, but has much more of a grainy penchant and the yeast is less appreciable. Hops are on the conservative side and more one dimensional than in the aroma. Fairly clean throughout.

The feel is medium light with some graininess. Carbonation is on the lesser side of average. Standard fare, but no major complaints here.

Coon Rock Cream Ale ain't too shabby at all. It's easy to drink and tastes pretty good.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of Ryan011235, poured into a shaker pint. I'm not really digging the magically fizzy chunks of sediment, but the long-lasting creamy head and patches of lace somewhat make up for it.

Smells of husky grains, minerals and soft sweet malt with hints of sulfur, earth and vanilla. Stray citric notes.

Coon Rock is certainly more viscous and lightly carbed than one might expect from the style. The sugar cookie sweetness is quite modest, though, and the light vanilla presence sets it off nicely. A bit of juicy citrus midswallow, and then a touch tangy, a touch grainy in the finish. A better than average cream ale.

Reviewed from notes.

Poured out a translucent pilsner straw yellow color but with only a fizzle of weak collar for a head...no lacing. Smells of mineral water, light amounts of sweet corn, perhaps a crystal malt??? (not sure about that one) and a nice accent of herbal / grassy hops. Flavor is like the nose, but also contains a medium strength bready element that pleases my palate. Lighter bodied (but not watery, thank goodness), well carbonated. Not as "corny" as Spotted Cow, but somewhat more bare-bones 'minimalist' as well. Very sessionable.

this beer has a decent taste with an average look.

the cloudy and unfiltered is very typical of a cream ale

the mouth feel is different and that says alot with my palate it has a sparkling taste to it which gives us the bittering of the hop

overall i would buy this beer again usually in a 6-pack it is one of the decent cream ales i have had in a long time

A - Brown body topped by an eggshell colored head. This one had alot of yeast sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Unfortunately I let it all suspend in my pour. Anyhow, I'll gove it a shot.

S - Malty and mildly sweet.

T - Mild malt flavors with a hint of banana and clove. This is a crafty flavored cream ale.

M - Smooth and rather soft as it goes down. The feel is nice.

~ This is a nice cream ale. It's not boring as I have found others of this style to prove. This is something I would recommend and if I knew the abv it might even fit into the sessionable realm.
