Light brown color and crystal clear. Moderate head but with extensive streaky lacing.
Smell: Deep treacle aroma. Semisweet. Lightly toasted biscuit.
Taste: Smooth body with neutral carbonation. This is a dryer Scotch Ale, despite the smell. There's also a decent hop bitterness in the swallow. Relatively short aftertaste. A very drinkable beer for the style without some of the (wee) heaviness of some. Perhaps this is closer to a Brown Ale, but it's still a very good beer.

I have been enjoying Lake Louie Warped Speed for years. I have enjoyed it since it's inception. Wisconsin Brewing purchased it a few years ago but maintained the high quality I am used to. One of my favorites.

Appearance: Pours a deep amber, almost brown color with a thick, light tan head. SRM of 20. (4.00)
Aroma: Strong aromas upfront of caramel, toffee, bread pudding. Hints of scotch come forth, but finishes with a toffee and honey sweetness.
Flavor: Strong and sweet flavors of bread, caramel, toffee, and bread pudding. Some scotch. A lot of streudel, caramel, toffee, and bread pudding malt flavor on the sweetness.
Feel: Medium to heavier bodied. Lower carbonation. Sweetness lingers.
Overall: A nice drinking scotch ale. Right on with the flavors of caramel, toffee, bread pudding, hints of scotch. Malty, sweet, and will enjoy coming back to this one come winter time. (Current Rating: 3.98)

I like this beer. It can be found in my fridge on a regular basis. While not the best Scotch Ale I have had, it is solid and enjoyable. Best yet, readily available in my area.

Somehow, I missed this top 30 rated in one of my Top Ten styles (obviously, being a malthead.)
Had at Weary Traveller Freehouse on Madison's Willy Street counter-cultural mecca. Warped Speed accompanied the Mulligatawany soup. And both acted like champs in their realm.
I have yet to figure out why this pairing was tremendous... and I probably should stop trying and, instead, remember that intuition is key in pairing. I also note that I read a 2011 BA review of Weary Traveller and it said Warped Speed was a highlight of its limited beer menu. It still is. Possible pairings for a whole decade. Now, that's hard to do and a concept worth thinking about.

The body of this beer was light, and its flavor lacking complexity for my taste. The style of Scottish ales I prefer lean toward the "wee heavy" class like 3 Floyds Robert the Bruce, and McEwans.
