Pours a soft, frothy head. Hazy, straw color. A really nice nose; notes of banana esters and floral hops. Starts with a mix of banana esters and hop bitterness; peaks in a low-medium bitterness. A more floral bitter hop flavor prevails, and malt pushes through. The finish is lingering hop bitterness, with wisps of malt and banana in the back.

This isn't too bad. I prefer Tripels that are more malt-centric, so this one isn't my cup of tea.

I had this beer with bad results about 3 years ago - let's try again...

Pour is hazy golden color...a bit chill hazed for style. Nice frothy white head, beautiful lacing.

Pear, honey, alcohol on nose.

A rather harsh hit up front on palate - biting bitterness. Honey maltiness, ripe fruits, the bite hangs on. In some ways this reminds me of some of the non-trappist tripels.

The bite is just too much to overcome. Taste is quite good until mid-mouth when the astringent bite takes over and never lets go.

Was undrinkable last time - glad to see it has become a better beer for this fine brewery.

12 oz bottle poured into an oversized wine glass. pours a clear golden color with a bit of amber mixed in. two fingers of tight, off-white head top it off with good retention and solid lacings.

aroma is of light belgian yeast and fruit with a light breaded note in the background. well put together with fruit ntoes of citrus, apple and some apricot along with a bit of wheat malt.

taste follows the nose with a light fruit quality and some begian yeast with a light spice upon finishing. a light bite on the back end kills the smooth character, but works oddly well with the flavors.

mouthfeel is medium bodied with a smooth presence on the palate and a light bite on the back end.

drinkablity is decent. a somewhat course tripel that needs a bit of refining to be of note, but still worth a try.

Poured this 12 oz. brown bottle into a Tripel Karmeliet glass. No date. The body was a turbid butterscotch color. Minimal head.

Smell was Belgian yeast and booze. Brown sugar, stewed fruit, and over-baked wheat bread.

Taste was earthy Belgian yeast. Booze. Butter. Malty. Not especially "Tripel-like".

Mouthfeel was low in carbonation and pretty smooth. Medium to full bodied.

Appearance: Pours a clear, light golden body with a small, white head.

Smell: Sweetish, honeysuckle nose with a hint of fruit and a clear, nostril-flaring waft of booze fumes.

Taste: Sweet, honeyed maltiness with a sip of fruity peach juice and cotton candy extract. Faintest spiciness. Even fainter bitterness. Coarse alcohol all the while. Pinch of dried herbs on the sweet finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-low carbonation.

Drinkability: No thanks. Unnecessarily sweet and comes across as needless boozy. The lack of adequate carbonation really allows the unpleasantness to languish on the tongue.

A: A straw, clear yellow. With almost no head.

S: Coriander and maybe a little yeast in there. Smell light and refreshing???!!!!

T: A little plain at first then some of the yeastiness come through followed by a hop bitterness. Fairly nice!

M: Unfortunately the bitterness lingers a bit too long. BUt it does make you go for another drink to have that intial flavor back.

D: It's ok, worth trying, but maybe not a go to local tripel.

From a 12oz bottle - Pours a clear pale color with small quickly dissipating head. Below average carbonation. Smells sweet with a nice bitter hop presence and yeasty notes. First sip is sweet and smooth with fruity hops and Belgian yeasts. Very nice, very drinkable. Excellent bitter finish.

Poured a simple golden yellow with no head or lacing.

Nice coriander aroma with cloves and some light fruits as well.

Initial swigs seem to be a bit unbalanced. One factor seems to be a bit overpowering, the cloves maybe? Slight alcohol tinge on the aftertaste.

Light mouthfeel, kind of watery actually. Low carbonation.

Overall this beer seems to be an unbalanced mess. Nothing really flows together smoothly. Worth a try of course but wouldn't get again.

(Served in a chalice)

A- This beer has a light apricot color with a thin white film that fades to a ring pretty quickly. There is a sea of tiny bubbles making up the carbonation.

S- The soft sweet perfumed flower smell with a light praline note and a faint green herbal note in the finish. There is a light yeasty hint to the sweetness that comes through as the beer warms.

T- This beer has as soft perfumed sweetness with an apricot note and a balanced green bitterness from hops and a soft peppercorn spice at the finish.

M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with no alcohol heat at all.

D- This beer has great subtle flavors and a great balance between the sweetness and the spicy notes. This beer goes down very quickly.

I had never heard of Lake Louie until about a month ago, but it sounded like they had some good stuff, so I had a friend who was going to WI pick this up for me.

Not much head, but I think I poured it a little too smoothly, so that may have had something to do with it. The color is a hazy orange-amber - pretty standard for a triple, if not a little on the cloudy side.

The smell is pretty appealing: fruitiness with a little peach, sweet candy sugar, and an enticing hops presence that is gives me a sense that this might be a nice little treasure.

Pretty average. Maybe this needs to gather some time, but the alcohol was a little strong on it without adding much. It's pretty complex, with significant sweetness, but somehow it just comes up short - it's just a little too sweet, without giving much other than just sweetness, and a maybe a touch of sour. It lingers well, but, again, just not much there except sweet a alcohol.

This is probably a one and out beer. I probably won't get another 6er, especially at $13. It's certainly not a bad beer, but there are a lot of brews that I would prefer over this guy.

From notes. Poured from a 12oz bottle a deep golden amber with an inch of creamy white head and spotty lacing. A bit dark for a tripel but looks good in the glass overall. Aroma of a nice spicy fruitiness ala citrus & spice. A bit of sourness in there too. Mellow graininess with lingering lemon zest and pepper notes.

First sip brings a smooth light graininess that's quickly complimented by a mix of peppery spiciness and mellow citrus, apple and fruit flavors. Flows down a bit bready with a light bitterness to contrast the sweetness. Overall, a tasty interpretation of the style.

Mouthfeel is smooth, light and arid. Goes down easy with no alcohol presence at all. A tasty brew that I could see myself going back to soon if it was more easily available.

A: Vibrant pumpkin color and quite cloudy. Not much head to speak of except for an off white rim around the glass.

S: Tangerine, honey, coconut, dried hay and banana peel.

T: Begins with allspice across the tongue. Moves to clover and honeysuckle with some nutmeg and orange rind following suite. Buttery saison like taste comes next with spicy yeast finishing it out. Finishes spicy and somewhat sweet.

M: Medium body, smooth carbonation with just a hint of fuzzy carbonation.

D: Not bad. Good drinking. Sweet but not cloying.

Ripe pumpkin orange; not quite dark enough to be called burnt. Within the beer can be seen a Belgianesque amount of carbonation. It's too bad that the head isn't Belgianesque as well. It's orangish ivory in color and is soft and frothy rather than sticky and rocky. I'm not anticipating much lace... and don't get much.

The nose is a decent attempt at a Belgian triple, but is ultimately a pale imitation of the real thing. That doesn't mean that I don't like it, just that it's going up against some pretty tough competition. Orange and peach fruit lightly sprinkled with clove spice greets my every sniff. Unfortunately, it's too simple and is underpowered to boot.

There are no major flavor revelations on the palate. It's a carbon copy of the nose, more or less. I've become pessimistic about the prospect of any brewery (not named Allagash) being able to create a domestic version of my favorite Belgian style. Lake Louie is a fabulous brewery, but they couldn't quite work their magic here.

There's enough pale malt, and probably candi sugar, to give the beer a sugar cookie-like sweetness. Apricot and peach nectar flow along uninterrupted and a splash of alcohol makes itself known as well. Part of the problem is that it tastes like a less than stellar yeast strain has been used. Clove spice is next to absent.

The mouthfeel is actually very nice. It's a hollow victory though, since the flavor profile isn't exactly wowing me. I like the medium-fullness, the slick finish and the laid back amount of carbonation.

I love Lake Louie beer and consider them to be one of the best brewers in the Midwest... of the standard 'American' styles. Brother Tim's Tripel Belgian (as the neck label reads) isn't exactly a failure, but neither can it be considered a success given the abundance of stupendous tripels that are being brewed right now. Thanks to terrabyte for the bottle.
