a clean amber/brown hue with 2 fingers of creme colored head and nice lacing for a porter.
smells of nuts, toffee, caramel, chocolate, coffee. the flavor has a vanilla kick up front followed by nuts, dark fruit (almost like a quad), hint of cocoa, and a complex sweet malt bill, which is impressive considering the low abv.
medium body on the lighter side with a decent amount of carbonation.. creamy on the lips and pretty filling for a light porter!
nothing too impressive with this one, but it's a pretty good porter nonetheless.

Pours a slightly transparent cola color with a thin cap of khaki bubbles. Aroma is very faint, smelling of caramel and perhaps chocolate--it's difficult to say. Taste is similar to the aroma, being that it is also thin and one-dimensional. There's some caramel sweetness and a dash of hops to balance, and not much else. I hope this just needs a little time to warm and open up, or else there's not much else to say (as a matter of fact, something akin to burnt marshmallow does manifest after some warming). The body is a shade thin but within the acceptable range for the style.
I'm usually pretty easy to please when it comes to porters, but this falls short of the mark.

What a great porter. I'm no beer snob so my descriptions are to be taken lightly. This porter has a good flavor. Notes of smoke, and molasses hit the nose. Strong at first but finishes smooth. Not a bad beer to drink to get started into porters. It was a lot lighter than I anticipated. I'm just getting into ports/stouts and this was a great first pick. I really like the flavor profile and how it finishes. You don't get a sour face or bitter finish, this porter is sweet, but subtle.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Blatz glass.
A- Pores a deep dark brown with a fat fizzy white head. Is clearly well carbonated. surprisingly when held up to the light there is actual a very slight amount of head retention.
S- The smell is rather faint being somewhat chocolaty while having the underlying profile of burnt malts. Slightly smokey.
T- The taste is slightly sweet and malty while being overly smokey. The finish is somewhat bitter as the result of the smokey taste of burnt malt With some slight cofee and espresso notes. Not very complex and pretty basic.
M- Rather high carbonation for a porter with a rather light mouth feel to it. Has very light qualities with a very watery texture.
O- A very sub par porter that leaves quite a bit to be desired. Rather unfortunate. The sight of the beer alone after first being poured told me right of the bat that this was going to be a rather low quality porter. As much as I hate to say it for Wisconsin brews this one is pretty much just worth avoiding.

[Best served in a Nonic Pint glass]
The pour was a medium brown with an orange hue and a large (2-3 finger) khaki colored rocky head that diminished to a thin layer of residue with a decent collar and had fair lacing.
The aroma was super light of a toasted chocolate malt, a mild resin hop and a doughy yeast with notes of chocolate and coffee.
The taste was lightly sweet with a hint of chocolate at first then became a smooth bitter malty with a note of coffee towards the end. The flavor lasted a short while with a weak coffee taste left behind.
Mouthfeel was just a little shy of medium in body and had a slight watery texture with a mild but firm carbonation.
Overall the taste was a little stronger than the aroma but still was a tad on the mild side...

Badger porter pours a very dark almost black color, with a nice large creamy head. There is a nice malty dry smell, with hints of coffee. The taste is a bit light and watery, but a nice malt flavor does come through, and some coffee flavors can be tasted. It is a bit too light and watery, BUT easy to drink. Overall its not bad, its a bit different, could be better, but still enjoyable.

12oz bottle brought back by my wife on her recent trip to devils lake. drank from my samuel adams perfect pint glass.
A- the pour produces an opaque dark brown colored body with a small khaki colored head on top. the head lasts for a little before falling, and leaves behind small spots of lacing.
S- roasted malts are detected right off the bat. milk and dark chocolate are picked up towards the middle. bitter coffee moves in at the end.
T- the taste starts out with some very dark roasted malts. after that i get some chocolate. both milk and dark. coffee and espresso finish off this one and add a bit of bitterness.
M- the body is on the thinner side of medium. the carbonation is a bit high. decently bitter.
O- a pretty decent beer for what it is. not the most complex offering out there, but i think this is brewed to appeal more to the everyday drinker than the craft beer enthusiast.

A- Huge head, wow, maybe a couple inches worth. Settles into a thick off white head atop a very dark brown porter. Great head retention and some decent lacing.
S- Normal cola/dark malt smell.
T- Chocolate right off the bat. Funky metallic after taste that I'm not a fan of.
M- Little light for the style but overall a minor complaint.
D/O- With no bottle dating(!!!) who knows how old this bottle is. The appearance definitely was the highlight of the pint...the aftertaste was just too much for me. Would revisit if I could verify bottle date.

Poured with low to no head. May be unfair as it was into a plastic glass. As with many porters the aroma was mild, but largely malt based of darker grains and mild roast. Tame overall though
The softer flavors made this easily drinkable. There was a nice sweetness to the flavor that blended with the mild roast. For an Am. porter I didn't detect much hops, unless they meant something else for it.
Biggest issue was the light body. Carbonation seemed a little big for style too.
Drank fine. I'd give it another go, but I wouldn't search far and wide for it.
Brought and offered to me by my brother in law. Thanks John.

A - Lighter in color than most porters. Almost more of a dark amber than a porter. Lots of carbonation, got at least 2 fingers of head space out of the bottle.
S - Not much scent here, nothing bad nothing good.
T- Nothing as far as roasted malts or chocolate tastes. Not bad for a lighter porter though.
M - again the mouth feel is light, this could be a more of a session porter.
D - Enjoyable lighter beer, I can see having a couple of these in one sitting. I would drink this again if offered one, but I will probably seek out more substantial porters in the future.

Poured from a room temperature bottle into a pint glass.
A=Was able to get a substantial head, that stayed for over a minute. A reddish brown (it even appeared purplish early on)...lighter in color than other porters.
S=Not overly impressive...I got a whiff of hops...not bad, but not spectacular.
T=Reminiscent of a porter, but reminded me more of an Oktoberfest/Märzen. A bit thinner, lighter than most other porters I've tasted, but enjoyable.
M=A bit lighter than I expected...too much so for a porter.
D=Good...the lack of carbonation and the mildness of the roast makes this more drinkable than most porters.
Overall...a good substitute for an Oktoberfest for the spring and summer months.
