I picked up a 4-pack of this today at Jaspers for $8.99.

This bier is a medium-to-deep golden color, with an ever-so-slight touch of haze. Hardly any carbo is to be found, and the head is a wispy-thin layer of white bubbles, mostly hanging at the edges. Aroma has a tiny hint of malty sweetness, but is mostly pithy hoppiness. The body is a decent medium, and the lack of carbo, though not making the bier feel flat, makes for an easy passage over the tongue.

There's only a smidge of maltiness in this one, a very light hint of caramel sweetness. What there IS a lot of is hoppiness. There is a combo of puckery citrus, some sweeter fruit like tangerine and apricot, plus a bit of rindy, pithy action going on at the finish. This one is pretty damn tasty, and the 8.50% ABV is (dangerously) well hidden. Prosit!!

Poured into a tulip glass.

A: Half a finger of rapidly vanishing head. Coppery orange body.

S; Alcohol. Fruit. Biscuit.

T: Meh. For a beer that claims to have 6 hops, this one really doesn't have much hop action going on.

M: Thin, slick, light-bodied.

O: I would not get this again.

12oz bottle poured into a teku glass

A -hazy bright copper with minimal creamy head.

S - Fairly strong carmel scent with hints of grapefuit and pine.

T - Very robust sweet carmel taste with quite a bit of hops. The floral taste is very subtle but pleasant. For me, it helps subdue the pine taste.

M -Slightly heavy, but smooth and medium bodied. Has a somewhat dry finish with minimal carbonation. Smooth and creamy, medium bodied. Low carbonation, dry finish.

O - Overall, a decent IPA. Was expecting a little more hops given the six hops used. Would definitely try it again and recommend to any fans of IPAs.

Pours a clear medium copper with a foamy half inch cream head that dissipates somewhat quickly, leaving minimal lacing.

Pine, resin, grapefruit, and toasted caramel malt form the initial aroma. Onion and soapy floral hops emerge.

Fruity hops are initially a surprising flavor mid palate. Citrus pith begins the profile, which turns bitter and resinous fairly quickly. There's substantial bready, cloyingly sweet, toasted caramel malt forming the backbone. But the fruity character is intriguing and difficult to describe.

Body is a tad syrupy, fairly full, with low carbonation, significant alcohol warmth, and a fair bit of astringency at the finish.

Cloyingly sweet at the backbone and eventually becomes more bitter than I prefer. Alcohol is a bit overwhelming. Hop flavor is somewhat odd.

T - The hops are more pronounced here. Grapefruit, pine, and earthy hops blend with a strong bready malt backbone. Finishes slightly bitter with burnt caramel and lingering toasted grains.

M - Smooth and creamy, medium bodied. Low carbonation, dry finish.

O - Although a little too malty for a double IPA, it's still a decent, flavorful brew. Considering six hop varieties were used, I expected a huge hop presence which unfortunately just isn't there. Still worth a try for any IPA fan, especially if given the chance.

Light, copper-colored body with a thick, sudsy head. Nice aroma: mild citrus and pine notes infused a soft malt sweetness. Taste follows along closely with the aroma; biscuit and some caramel hints; a fair amount of hop bitterness; alcohol presence peeps out near the finish. Medium bodied with a sharp, malt sugar edge, dry finish.

A good but a bit understated for a DIPA. It's certainly tasty and decently balanced across the board. The beer's hop and malt flavorings seem to fit a regular IPA taste profile (a good thing) with the added punch of a DIPA's ABV. I was surprised at a rather subdued hop smell for something sporting six hop varieties in the mix. The hop flavor was also not as commanding a presence although the overall hop bitterness seemed fair enough. But, this is nit-picking for an otherwise good IPA.
