Semi-cloudy orangish-amber in color with a single finger of head that fizzles out without any lacing. Smells of caramel malts with medium nuttiness, tastes of the same with the addition of some mild spicing and a semi-dry finish. Body is medium and unfortunately, somewhat undercarbonated for my tastes. However, when the carbonation is my main nitpicking issue, that usually means that I'm struggling to find something wrong with something that does most everything else pretty much OK.

Pours out clear, gold-amber hues, loud and fizzy carbonation and a creamy 2" cap of foam. Rushing, spazed-out bubbles that creates a hearty with a creamy topped look and some lace.

A dark wheat, herbal-edge and malty aroma. Creamy semi-sweet malt aroma, mild chocolate, earthy herbs and musty-dry hops and yeast blend together well.

A very clean, jazzy medium-bodied feel with a nice malty complexity, semi-sweet and smooth malt effect balanced with a very nice herbal, earthy yeast, dry hops and many subtle undertones of smoke and herbs. Nice balance.

I hate to think of October in late August, but this one is rushing in the season!

as the oktoberfest style is my favorite style, i had to try this one. the brew pour a light amber-orange color, slightly lighter color than i expected. the smell was that of an average beer of any style. i was expecting a little more malt flavor than what there was. but considering what there was for a taste, i thought the mouthfeel was decent. not the best oktoberfest i've had but still drinkable for me.

Clear and orange, head and lacing ain't bad but ain't spectacular either.

Malty with bready character and some of the typical Octoberfest aromas you'd expect. OK but not memorable.

Taste is malty, plenty of sweet doughy breads, with some spices and a little bit of fruitiness.

Body is crisp and refreshing with ample carbonation. Not bad at all, very easy to drink.

As far as Octoberfest beers go, it's good, but it's nothing special.

From fall brew tasting notes (2010): Pours a crystal clear, golden-orange-copper colored body with a finger-width, frothy, white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a moderate lacing throughout. Aroma is some sweeter caramels with a light grainy toast. A hint of earth, honey, nuts, and bread. Flavor is solid. Caramels, a light grain, honey, toffee, bread, some nuts, a light toast, and florals. Finishes with a light, balancing earth that helps dry this out before leaving a light bitterness and a medium-length aftertaste. Very smooth, light-medium body and soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent Oktoberfest.

Poured an amber/apricot color with nice 1 finger head that lingered, nice lacing throughout the session. Light aroma of grain and fruit. The taste has a nice balance of hops, fruit and bread/yeast. Not to thick and not to thin, great mouth feel.
Overall I like this beer and would definitely drink it again.

12 ounce bottle - $1.29 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a clear, orange-amber body with a finger or two of off-white suds. A few glass-clinging smears of lace on the descent.

Smell: Sweetish nose, primarily bready, but with some toasty and nutty accents to it and a far-off hint of light caramel syrup. Herbal, spicy, earthy Noble hops.

Taste: Maltiness tasting of ever so slight toasted bread brushed with a coating of sugary caramel. Lightly nutty. Faint fruitiness. Spicy, earthy German hops with ample supporting bitterness. The initial, light nuttiness grows a bit as you near the drying, reasonably crisp finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation.

Drinkability: A standard, simple, but easy-drinking O-fest (at a decent price) to kick-start the weekend.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

Pours very clear, pale orange with two fingers of foam that fades slowly and coats the glass. Aroma is grainy, husky, minerally.

First sip is ok, but finishes very flat-tasting. Some husky, grainy flavors, minimal sweetness and no hops. Very smooth, creamy mouthfeel is a redeeming quality.

Overall, it is ok, but falls a bit flat in the flavor department. It looks good, feels good, but doesn't quite taste good. Just needs some more sweetness to round things out.

Appearance: Lighter amber, crystal clear, small white head that isn't too big but totally decent lacing

Aroma: sweet corn, honey, cereal grains, and a little bit of grassiness/straw aroma

Taste: a nice bed of amber grain with definite detectable sweetness, small amount of hop bitterness, and a bit of alcohol in the background - nice taste overall, but a little watery

Mouthfeel: pretty decent medium body, pleasant moderate carbonation

Drinkability: very balanced, drinkable beer, not all that exciting, but definitely worth a try...would be nice with German food

Pours a brown, yellow, orange color with a good white head.

Smells a bit like caramel malts mixed with swamp water.

Not a great taste, there is something strangely sweet or swampy in the flavor as well. Caramel malts and a hint of hops. Reinheitsgebot... I think not :(

This beer just has an overall unnatural flavor and feel. Poor mouthfeel and drinkability.

12 oz bottle. Lighter amber color with an orange hue. White rocky head holds well for a couple minutes. Good clarity.

Bready malt, and slightly toasty in the nose. Malt is backed up by some earthy, and slightly grassy hops.

Flavor is much like the nose, slightly toasted, bready malt. This has a bit more sweetness than others in the style. Finishes with some earthy hops to balance things. Maybe just a slight sour-ish edge.

Medium body. Carbonation is smooth, giving it a very soft feel. Alcohol hidden. This is a pretty drinkable, good marzen. Not outstanding, but pretty good.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a small mug. There is no freshness date ABV or description other that its style.

Appearance: The body has a deep orange amber color with good clarity and lots of visible carbonation. From the aggressive pour I got a 1 inch collar of beige foam. This head quickly settles down to thin light layer. Lacing on the glass is spotty and slick.

Smell: There is not much to the aroma. It has a light bready maltiness with some earthy and slightly grassy hops.

Taste/Palate: The flavor is much more interesting. A good medium bodied base of bready malt starts things off. Deeper in there are some light toasted notes with very little sweetness. In the finish I get a lot of nutty and nut shell like notes along with fresh bread and earthy hops. This cleans up fairly quickly and somewhat dry. Carbonation and texture is right on.

Notes: This one is a solid example of the style.

A: The head was active on the surface, with a feverish display of micro bubbly explosions that quickly eroded its initial 1 finger statue to a distant memory within seconds after the pour. Against lighting a pumpkin orange coloring is revealed with a spacious separation of effervesce. The lacing was weak on the hold. Would of enjoyed a more marzen/amber coloring and a sturdier head.

S: Sweet toasted caramel syrup appears on the opening nose along with moist orange peels and some sugary cereal grain. The strength was about right, maybe a bit more so then usual but personally prefer a toasted munich or Vienna malting along with some noble hops.

T: Really sweet upfront, loaded with sweet caramel syrup and sugary cereal grains with mentions of wet lemony hops. Flowery noble hops do manage to find their way within midway through the experience taming and balancing the initial sweetness. The beer progresses nicely with each sip. On the finish lied some wet lemony moments and some herbal parsley gently coating the tongue upon the swallow.

M: Sharp feel, light body with an oily texture. Nice bubbly sensation but lacked a malt fulfillment and creaminess. Overall decent.

D: After an initial sugary shock and start the beer does manage to level out and become more traditional in taste providing some light toasty malts and flowery hops. I can go for a couple of these.

I had a half liter of this at House of Brews in midtown Manhattan. It was surprisingly good. Lighter in body than a typical Oktoberfest it was still malty and very flavorful. Good marzen color, nice aroma and very easy to drink. I enjoyed it very much and will get it again if i see it anywhere.

Not bad pours a clear amber caramel hue with a nice off white head fine speckled lacing all around my glass. Aroma has a spicy noble hop tone with some toasted caramel malts backbone, pleasant smell. Flavor has a nice spicy caramel malt backbone, has a bit of a sour flavor to the malts but it actually works here. Mouthfeel is light but not thin carbonation not perfectly natural but not overdone. This is a good value Ofest from Stevens Point I really haven't had a beer I enjoy from them yet, now I can say I have.

Twist top bottle without dating code, poured into a mug.

A- 2-finger, off-white head quickly settles to 1/2-finger pretty quickly and eventually to a full film. Good sticky rings are left on the glass. The body is a very clean, copper with moderate-to-heavy carbonation.

S- Bready/doughy initially. Lighter, spicy hops in the background. While pleasant, it's all a bit muted.

T- More doughy, breadiness as described in the aroma. Sweeter notes come in a little later. Hopping is on the spicy side and bring things into balance.

M- Moderate to heavy carbonation at first. I either got used to it, or it mellowed a little later on. An initial sting accompanies the surge of carbonation, but again falls off later. Moderate viscosity.

D- It's an easy drinker, but the style as a whole tends to be easy drinking. It doesn't really set itself apart from others. That said, at $5.99 for a sixer, I'd consider buying it again when I need a Marzen fix.

Pours a clear amber orange with a one finger white head. Lots of bubbles. good retention and a very nice lace. Aroma is of bready malts. Nice,but a bit weak. Body is the lighter side of medium and carbonated. Taste is malty,with a bit of a honey/dark fruit through out. Smooth finish. Another solid offering from Point.

12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Looks nice, it's a relatively clear amber-orange with honey highlights and active carbonation. However, the head is just a small ring and the lace is spotty at best.

Smells OK, there's some sweet and toasted malt giving caramel and bread impressions and a touch of noble hops. Also a bit of weird cooked veggies that bring the score down. Not expressive enough and just a bit off.

The taste is nice, perhaps a touch better than average. The malt gives nice sweetness and some toasted notes, along with lingering sweetness and nuttiness. A touch of fruitiness but there's a strange pocket of nothing inbetween the initial tastes and aftertaste.

Mouthfeel is acceptable and even over average for the style. It's light and refreshing and has decent carbonation. Finish is sweet and nutty. I like this beer (that is to say there's nothing offensive about it), but the nuttiness in the aftertaste and the overall weirdness surrounding the missing flavors make it just average for drinkability. Kick it up a notch and we'll meet again!

Sampled this brew in the past, but failed to review -- until now. I've enjoyed some of Point's specialty beers in the past, hope this one is up to that speed.

Oktoberfest Marzen (no umlaut) Style -- Hand Crafted.

A -- Clear, amber to copper color with a white head that settles slowly to a persistent, thin cap.

S -- Bready malts up front with some vague citrus to spicy hops back, mild DMS with warming.

T -- Light, sweet, bready malts up front, mild spicy hops in the middle and finishing with a bready, nutty character and a lingering bitterness in the aftertaste.

M -- Light medium body with a very soft, almost creamy mouthfeel, finishing dry.

D -- A very pleasing Ami take on the Bavarian style (despite the lack of Umlaut). Point seems to be stepping up their quality in years past and making some pretty decent to-style brews.

12 oz twist off brown bottle.

The appearance for this one is a dead ringer for a Shiner Oktoberfest, It is orange/amber in color, perhaps a bit lighter with a crappy fizzy white head that dissipates in about 10 seconds.

The smell on this oen is decent for an oktoberfest, there is a soapy scent hat is kind of off putting, but overall it is a clean smelling version of the style. It doesn't bring a ton of maerzen character but enough.

This one is also unnofensive int he flavor, though im picking up some diacetyl. It is nutty, caramally, with a sourdough character. It isn't too sweet like a lot of midrange oktoberfests. There is a light hop bitterness, nothing offensive, but nothing flattering.

The mouthfeel seems a bit weak, but it is nice and drinkable.

A middle of the road oktoberfest form a brewery known for brewing some crap.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a golden brown color and a clear consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy head that quickly dissipated. Almost no lacing.

S: Not much of an aroma, but there were traces of malt and something sugary.

T: Tasted of malt and caramel up front but finished in a weak, watery way. Not a terrible flavor, but definitely uneven.

M: An average amount of carbonation with a dry finish. Light-bodied.

D: Not undrinkable, but hardly memorable.

12 oz. Bright orange/gold pour, about a finger of white head. Appears like a large amount of carbonation's in there.

Aroma is pretty nice and malty, bready. Some yellow raisin, citrus.

Taste is also malty, caramel and a citrus tart that cuts through. Finishes a little wishy washy, cardboard, tea.

Carbonation is just a bit too high here. Not aweful, but it is too lively. Otherwise there are no problems drinking this, other than I would probably not reach for another.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Guinness pint glass.

A- Golden amber with a somewhat thin head.

S- Cinnamon, spices, toasted malt, bread. Pretty nice actually.

T- Carbonation bite really hits quickly leading into a sweet bread flavor with a little spice then a slightly bitter hop aftertaste. Still, not very complex unfortunately and every flavor is muted. It's too bad because this smells great.

M- Medium light, lots of carbonation in the beginning.

D- It's not bad but there are other Oktoberfest beers I would go to first. Still, this is decent; a good fall back beer and it was great for steaming bratwurst with onions last night.

Oktoberfest beers are my favorite style so this is a great time for beer. Leinies and Point are the first ones on the shelves here and I just had to pick them up. Both are a fairly average Oktoberfest. Leinies is a hair more spicy and Point is a hair more earthy. Truthfully they both are very similar and I can't tell them from each other unless they are side by side. I can't wait for the other brands to start showing up. I'll be getting more of both Leinies and Point until NG's Staghorn Hits the shelves. I really want to score these much higher. Self control anyone? :)

This is a nice Wisconsin take on the Fall traditional. Everything is in proper place, with hops and malts achieving balance. Proves once again that Oktoberfest is not about competition, its about celebration. Celebration is a point well taken here. A beautiful pour that reminds me that Marzen, like Bock, is all about the love of beer.
