A great brewery in a state with very good breweries. A drive from Madison, and a bit of a day trip from Milwaukee. Check the hours before you go. I had no indication it was open only at 430 pm and doors locked to the very minute. A decent sized room with a bar and tables, and lots of great glasses to try or buy. Not that much of a selection but of course all very good beers. Bartenders were competent, and i was nit getting answers by these ladies to basic technical questions. Most staff concerned with the big orders, and the multi growler fills. Being allergic to dogs, the constant presence of one by staff was not helpful.

Stop #224 on my brewery tour of the world.
25 minutes or so from Madison. Visited on a Thursday evening in early August - wonderful Wisconsin summer weather.
I was on my phone headset dealing with business pretty much the entire time so I lost a bit of focus (spoke low and sat outside away from others).
Pole barn facility with medium size tasking room and nice outdoor patio with lots of grassy area for youngsters to run around. Plenty of hops growing on their hop vines out back.
The bartender set me up with the full sampler, brought it out to me, and even came back to pick up the empties.
All beers were solid but the bourbon brown stood out. Just enough bourbon flavor to balance with the lighter brown style (as opposed to the usual imperial stout). Also served a sample of root beer which was a nice finish at the end.
A definite stop if you ever find yourself traveling from Milwaukee to Madison.

The Tyranena Brewery is extremely convenient for me being right across the street from my office. I stop there about once a week after work to have a couple beers and maybe pick up a case or growler.
A - The tasting room itself is very nice and laid back. Nice bar with about 15 stools or so and they also have a half dozen pub tables.
Q - All the beers from Tyranena have been very good. I think that I have tried pretty much all of them at this point. I really like their IPAs and pale ale. The Brewers Gone Wild series is very popular. Their summer beers are very good as well.
S - Tyranena has quite a few bartenders that work the various shifts. They have all been very friendly and are knowledgable about the beers.
S - They have about 10 taps or so which a lot of different styles covered - IPA, brown, pale ale, porter, amber, stout, blonde, hefe.
F - They don't serve food their, but are very open to people bringing in their own food or ordering delivery from one of the places in town. Oftentimes, they have snack mix or something on the bar.
I'm really a big fan of this brewery and will continue to stop in there regularly.

Stopped by on the way back to MN after a long Dark Lord Day. I was very impressed that such a small brewery produced as much beer as they do. Became more impressed after I found out the minimal amount of staff that they use to produce said beer. Now the review:
A = very lazy sunday afternoon, there was not that many people there, so the atmosphere was very warm and inviting. Seemed like good people having a good time.
Q = great products, great schwag, even bought a shirt when I was there (which is saying something being that I wear a XXXL, they even had a 4X)
S = one person behind the bar, very nice, service was very good. She spent more time than most people would chatting up the brewery
S = the selection was somewhat limited at the bar, 4 or 5 taps. The selections that were present were very good, just would like to of seen more.
F = no food
V = I buy their products often (3 Beaches Blonde is my wife's favorite) and will continue buying them due to the wonderful experience while visiting the brewery

This is a fun and often underrated relatively new WI craft brewery.
It is a small little warehouse just East of downtown Lake Mills (another quaint cool WI town). It is just south of Interstate 94, just West of Milwaukee and East of Madison.
The staff were very friendly, helpful. The tour was free. It has a family feel to it. Small very nice bar and plenty of outdoor seating for a warm Summer day.
The selection on-tap was wonderful, seasonal, as well as, regular offerings.
STOP BY THIS GEM!

I have visited this place many times, one of the better places Wisconsin has to offer. Highlight is having the Hop Whore on tap, which in this raters opinion is the best beer they ever made, and probably the best DIPA in Wisconsin. They allow you to cook out on the terrace, and have live bands on the weekend in the summer. The line up is solid, but with all their Brewers Gone Wild Series they would save up some of them to have them more often on tap (as in muliple beers) and make it a great event. It is a minor gripe though, I as thoroughly enjoy visiting here and will most certainly again.

Driving from Minneapolis to Milwaukee this is a short stop off the highway. You pull up to a newer looking wharehouse. You walk in to an office on the right, the brewery straight back and a bar to the right. The bar is spacious and new looking, but pretty boring overall. At least there is a cool selection of clothing to buy on the wall. The beer available was 6 regulars and 3 special beers that we're nothing at all special. The server was fairly knowledgeable and pleasant. They offered no food which sucked as we were famished. This place is in the middle of no-where offer some food.
Not a place worth going if your traveling buy. Their beers aren't great and the chances are they won't have anything special.

Was unaware this place was only about 35-40 minutes from my lakehouse, neglected going here for a couple years, decided to stop in on the Sunday before Labor Day...
Arrived at about 3pm on a Sunday, there were maybe a half dozen other folks there at that time, mostly older couples and a couple dogs! Inside is clean and open with about a 20 ft. long bar with maybe 10 Tyranena offerings on tap. Mostly their standard offerings, but they did have a one-off Lambic on tap as well. No food.
Two TV's in a rather unassuming interior, quiet and chill. Went alone for one pint and had a nice conversation with an older couple, locals, regulars.
Outside there is a nice little beer garden with a good amount of greenery surrounding it, somewhat hiding the fact that you are in an industrial area.
Had a good time and will definitely visit again in the future, at night, when they have live music. The atmosphere was good when I was there, but I assume it would be a much different experience at night with a band...

A: in an industrial park but the beer garden is very nice with a water bowl outside for dogs, cool laid-back atmosphere, interior was clean, unpretentious, but well done
Q: very nice, always fresh glasses with each selection, I was even "yelled at" by the bartendress Megan for pouring a few ounces of my buddy's porter into my "used" Bitter Woman glass
S: very good, Megan was a delight to speak with and was very attentive, she even offered paper plates to four women sitting next to us that had a pizza delivered
S: decent but it was somewhat an off season for any barrel-aged beers, mostly the usual available and La Femme
F: nothing other than free pretzels, however, we brought along brats, buns, etc. and used the grill outside (huge points), pretty awesome, Megan even had a stash of condiments to use (we forgot the mustard), she was a class act
V: beer was reasonably priced

We went on a Sunday, around 4 or 5. A gorgeous day in the early spring, everything all warm orange brown and melty. A halfdozen locals greeted us with warm indifference and the bartender was friendly. Giant mastiffs sniffed around your feet, were called outside by their owners--employees, brewers--then ran around outside for a little bit, came back in and started sniffing at your feet again. Customers brought in their dogs. This is maybe the best dogwalking destination in the whole world.
Tap selection was wide. 3 rares/one-offs, along with all of their regular offerings. Take home selection was a little lacking, though, as they only had one BGW series for sale and, understandably, you couldn't get growlers of the rare or high-octane stuff.
Like I said, the bartender was friendly and knowledgeable. We came at a laid back time of time and we got a laid back kind of experience.
Certainly worth the 15 minute drive from downtown Madison.
