Tyranena makes some amazing brews, but I'm not a big fan of this one. The nose seems off, almost caustic to some degree. It really turned me off to even tasting it! The taste was too heavy on the hops. It seems like there's some good flavor there, but the hops drowns most of it out. The beer also leaves your mouth quite dry, but given the taste and smell, that's the least of this beer's problems. Don't judge Tyranena on this beer; it's a substandard brew in an otherwise fantastic brewery.

Thanks for the great extra, Jascha.
Pours a hazy golden orange color with an off-white head. Still surprisingly hoppy for the age of this beer. Lots of fruity and floral notes along with quite a bit of yeast and some nice esters. Sweet bread and malt flavor are more pronounced on the palate. The citrus and fruit character translates to the flavor as well. A hint of grass and only a mild bitterness with some yeastiness toward the back end.

Thanks to JAYBLACK for this one.
Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a balloon glass
This beer is a hazy golden/orange-ish color with a tall white rocky head that slowly recedes leaving a fair amount of lacing
The aroma is yeasty and spicy up front, followed by some fruity notes and piney hops. Initially the bready malts went by unnoticed, but as the beer warms the bready notes start to edge their way to the surface. The alcohol is noticeable, but not overwhelmingly so.
Interestingly enough, the flavor starts off being largely citrusy and somewhat sharp. I wouldn’t have expected that from the aroma of the beer. The flavor and the aroma seem to contradict each other; lots of Belgian yeast character in the nose, very little in the flavor. Piney hops in the nose, more citrusy hops on the tongue. Bready notes in the aroma, more caramel maltiness in the flavor. Noticeable alcohol in the nose and the alcohol is very well hidden in the flavor. All of the flavors seem to meld together in a very favorable way. Medium/full bodied, and well carbonated.
Overall, this is a very drinkable, approachable beer. My only criticism would be that I would like to see more Belgian yeast character in the flavor; as the aroma teased me with a characteristic that the flavor couldn’t deliver.

Thanks Deuane!
A - Poured with a semi-clear, copper orange body that had some golden highlights...one finger of white head formed and fell to a thin cap...that cap left behind great lacing
S - Bitter and piney hops are present, but there is also some spiciness going on in the background
T - There isn't much going on in the beginning...maybe I had the beer too cold?...the Belgian spices really open up in the middle and they continue into the finish...the piney hops finish the beer and provide a lasting bitterness
M - Medium bodied...spicy, bitter, dry
O - At first I didn't think much of this beer, but mid-palate it really opened up and finished as a good Belgian IPA...the hops have held up over time and the spices were still kicking

The beer pours an amber hue with decent foam. The aroma is balanced mixture of hops and malt. Dark fruit and bread mingle with the yeast and spice of a Belgian and the bitterness of an IPA. More of this on the palate with fruity, malty sweetness which leads into a center of Belgian sourness and hoppy bitterness. Spice and pepper whisk it away. This is certainly a balanced brew with plenty of drinkability.

Bottle from Reilly's in Madison. Looks closer to a Belgian, tastes closer to an IPA. A delight, a clear hop delivery, cushioned by yeast rather than malt secondary. Golden diffused by the off-white yast. Hoppy aroma. Very good drinkability. Tad above average mouthfeel, though carbonation was right there.

golden amber in color with a big head of white on top. Took forever to settle down though and the first few pours were on the foamy side I have to say. Aside from that though, nice side glass lacing and a rich look to it overall had me going in for another look. Light aroma, mild hops with a hint of bready notes to it right under the surface. This peeled back into light peach and banana hints the more it warms and a touch of light grain. Flavor was again interesting, bready and grainy at first with hints of lemon and orange sprinkled in. Warming seems to really mellow the hops completely and allow almost a spicy tone to take hold. Interesting

A - Noce white head pours quite strong. Brew is pleasant copper color. Nice bubbles release from the center
S - Slight funk going in this brew... Lots of sweet fruits. Grapes, oranges, banana, apples, mango?
T - Very unique for an IPA. Not too sure how I feel about it... Very bready flavor. Nothing to memorable.
M - Way too carbonated. Zero heat, but lots of interesting bitterness. Very wet and medium bodied.
O - This brew was not quite my speed, but still a quality brew, just not a brew for me. Thanks for the extra beerhan.

This is an adventure from the clearance section. And I could not find a date code anywhere on the bottle. As such, I strongly suspect (due to hops degradation) that this bottle is a bit too old. I'll leave this review untouched if I can never find another fresher one again....If I can find a fresh bottle, I'll come back to this and edit this review to reflect upon the impression given at that time.
Pours a typical orange brown color with small 1 finger head, no real lacing. Carbonation seems partially deadened and although the mouthfeel is satisfying, it could have been so much better if only there was more spritz and bubbles. Smell is like a murky dubbel, light on the belgian yeast (what little there is smells mostly of earthen tones) and light on the bitter hops. (what happened?) I can get a taste of sloppy malts and dark fruits, but the IPA part of the equation is missing completely. I miss my hoppy brightness! However, one might expect such a thing if buying on the clearance cooler. For all I know, it could have been stored directly at room temp for a while. I'll be keeping an eye out for this one and trying it again in the future if I can, for fairness's sake.
