A - Dark orange with small head that is gone as quick as you can appreciate it.

S - A lot of orange with exceptional pumkin (a very good mixtured smell) with your average hints of cinnamon, caramel, and brown sugar.

T - You taste some pumkin but mainly the cinnamon/brown sugar. It seems to focus mainly for the taste of beer which I enjoy. Could use more malt, but what do I know, I just taste.

M - Almost syrup like, but not quite. Not crisp, but with exceptional carbonation.

D - Very good. Especially for a seasonal brew. For me pumkin beers are good to have one a night, maybe two, but this beer seems to wanting more. Not the most unique, but one you'll want to drink on again.

A - orangish copper color without much of a head

S - loads of spices billow out of the glass - nutmeg, cinnamon, and sugary crust.

T - sweet spices from the nose are upfront and give way to some nice caramel malts through the middle. The caramel malts are superseded by some more spices from the nose - cinnamon and nutmeg are most prominent.

M - creamy and full body

D - pretty solid pumpkin ale by Tyranena. This has more spices than anything else...almost like a mini Schlafly pumpkin ale. Been wanting to try this one for a while and glad I got the chance.

I poured it a little too cold at first so it took some time for the smell and flavors to show themselves. At first it just smelled like a standard macro-brew lager but as it warmed, pumpkin and other spices were noticeable. At first I only got some spices (cinnamon, nutmeg) in the taste but as the temperature of the beer went up, the pumpkin started to come through but it wasn't overly strong.

Overall this was a nice seasonal beer that I would buy again but it isn't going to rank amongst my favorites.

A nice overall drinker.

The appearance is a golden amber color with minimal foam despite a good pour.

The smell has some spicy overtones but nothing too agressive.

The taste is some mild pumpkin with some slight phenolic tastes.

The mouthfeel is nice and full with a bit of remainy grainy taste.

The drinkability is overall fairly high although it drops off as the beer gets warmer.

A good pumpkin beer overall, but not in the top tier.

Served in a Gale Sayers shaker pint glass.

Finally getting around to this particular pumpkin ale after hearing so many good things. It pours a clear tawny topped by a half-finger of dirty tan foam. The nose comprises caramel, cinnamon, brown sugar, light toasted rye bread, very light cocoa, and nutmeg. The taste holds notes of brown sugar, nutmeg, clove, pumpkin, light buttery toffee, rye bread, and a touch of mixed greens in the background. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a slightly creamy feel. Overall, a pretty good pumpkin ale, one that really heaps up the spice and the pumpkin characters. There are times when they seem too much, but this feeling doesn't last very long.

This is a decent pumpkin. It's a little heavier focused on the spice aspect, which I like but I'd rather have a pumpkin that screams, well, pumpkin. This beer is malty and spicey. I almost feel like it would be good warm, like a heavily spiced apple cider. I don't think this is a beer I could have more than a couple of in a night but I could certainly enjoy one from time to time on a fall night.

A: Clear amber-ish orange color, with moderate carbonation, and head that is little to non-existent.

S: Standard spices on the nose: cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, etc. with a hint of the actual gourd. Pleasant.

T: Medium bodied, with very over-the-top sweetness. The cinnamon burns in a pleasant way, and the other spices all come together nicely. Unlike many pumpkin ales out there, this one is not a brown ale and doesn't have the brown sugary sweetness. This is more of a crisp, hoppy, honey-like sweetness that I appreciate. I can definitely tell that this is an amber.

M: I wish this one had a head on it. The froth would have added to the enjoyment of this concoction. Still, the spices are pleasant and the balance is good.

D: It's kind of a rough drinker because of the in your face spices. I could drink one or two, but that's about it.

12oz bottle via trade (from Tumpster I believe), poured into a pint glass.

Pours a translucent medium amber color with a thick, creamy beige head and great lacing.

Aroma is nice with spices, pumpkin bread, and caramel.

Flavor is pretty solid and fairly well-balanced, not overspiced. Pumpkin bread, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, caramel malt, and a little alcohol.

Medium body with some spiciness on the palate.

Drinkability is above average. Overall a good example of a pumpkin beer, but not quite one of the best.

A- Red/light brown. Half inch head that fades quickly leaving very little, if any, lacing.

S- Smells of "Big Red" chewing gum. Cinnamon spice.

T- Cinnamon, maybe some nutmeg. Caramel malts.

M- Very pleasant medium mouthfeel. Has a little carbonation bite to it.

D/O- Drinkability is not bad, but isn't great either. I'd stop at two of these. The cinnamon flavor is all but overwhelming...anymore than two and you're talking major palate fatigue. Good pumpkin ale overall though. Hats off to Tyranena.

ightly hazed orange tinted amber was quickly encompassing the glass. A nice sized head of white foam then rose up over the top and reached a height of around two inches, excellent retention left behind a good deal of side glass lacing and some nice puffy white foam across the top.

The aroma was a touch lighter then I would have thought, but I would still say it was fairly decent. Nice touches of cinnamon and all spice, hints of nutmeg and a nice light grain and bready base to it. The flavor though was just decent. No really full profile here, lots of pumpkin spice and hints of cinnamon throughout, but other then that it just came across as far too weak for me. No aftertaste at all, and the quick and very clean finish was a little bit less then I would have initially hoped for.

Sent as an extra by inlimbo77 and poured into a tulip.

Autumnal orange, murky to the point of total, muddy opacity. Half a finger of airy white head fizzles away within seconds, leaving behind a thin, soapy ring. No lace.

Creamy, sweet nose. Smooth, sugared pumpkin pie mixed with heavy cream. As it warms more spices emerge. Mostly clove, but there’s also some nutmeg.

Sharp, gently roasted pumpkin mixes with spices. Nutmeg is the biggest, then cinnamon sticks. Tangy, almost citrusy notes emerge after a while.

Just an awesome mouthfeel. Soft as a velvet hug, creamy, medium. Carbonation is almost not there, prickly, breaking into just a bit of fizz.

Not a bad example of the style. Balanced and drinkable, with a smooth blend of spice and pumpkin.

A= Pours a slightly hazy brownish amber color with a thin skin of a head that falls fast to a thin ring around the glass. Little lacing and no retention,

S= The initial smell is a little light on the pumpkin and spice. It smells pretty typical of a brown ale with some malt character and a tiny bit of pumpkin shining through.

T= The taste has more pumpkin to it. The initial flavor hit with loads of spice. Nutmeg and a vanilla like flavor before some pumpkin comes over the tongue breifly and is swallowed by a sweet malt character. The finish is a little bready with reminicent pumpkin shining through.

M= A little high on the carbonation for my taste.

O= This isn't a bad pumpkin beer. A solid flavor but it could be much better. I would like a little more spice and pumpkin with some better aromatics but for the price it's a nice fall treat.

12 oz. bottle, no bottled on date, but I am assuming this is the 2012 fall release of this beer. Bought the last bottle of this as a single at my local beer store. Excited to try it, my third beer from Tyranena Brewing Co., and I have been impressed by them in the past.

Poured into a Firestone Walker pint glass.

A - Fairly aggressive pour yields about a half finger of fizzing bubbly khaki head, which fades away quickly. Body is a ruby chestnut brown type color.

S - Smell is comprised of warm creamy pumpkin pie. Can smell the cinnamon. Faint nutmeg & cloves. Whiff of the allspice, but faint. Even a bit of vanilla. The spices seem to be somewhat muted, maybe they have faded some, but they are still in there. Gets me in the mood for Halloween; I love pumpkin beers.

T - Wow, what a smooth beer. Very roasty malts seem to dominate here, with some subdued pumpkin & spices gathered in the background. Cinnamon comes through the most out of all the spices. Was hoping for a lot more pumpkin presence here, but this is an interesting take on the style. Malty, bready, and even sweet in the finish.

M - Feel is sticky, somewhat bitter. Creamy & smooth. Nicely bodied & with nice carbonation.

Overall, something of a pleasant surprise. I always love trying out new pumpkin beers, and they are definitely one of my favorite styles. While this is definitely not the best of the bunch that I've had, it is an interesting take on the style. Looking forward to more by Tyranena.

A- Pours a nice orange brown color with a white head.

S- Smell of brown sugar and cinnamon and nutmeg.

T-Taste of pumpkin and spices and brown sugar overlaying the taste.

S- Moist very settle not over carb just right for this beer.

D- Pretty good from Wisy land. But I had so many pumpkin beers this year it's warring me out.

This beer pours a cloudy amber-brown color. The head is pretty much nonexistent. The aroma is a nice mix of all spice, nutmeg, cinnamon. However, it lacks any sort of beery backbone. The taste similar to the aroma, but with a hint of caramel malt. The hint of malt is quickly overpowered by the spices, and completely disappears in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation, and a velvety texture. Overall, this is a decent beer, but I can't see myself drinking it again.

Small parchment colored head. Medium carbonation. Clear burnt umber color. Aroma is spicy, clove and nutmeg. Starts sweet with a lot of spices, nutmeg, clove, ginger. Spiciness continues throughout. Medium body, ethanol is hidden. Finish and aftertaste are sweet and spicy, very much reminiscent of pumpkin pie. Nutmeg dominates.

A says tastes like potpourri. But then, she doesn't really like pumpkin beers. I thought it was pretty decent.

Pours very thick and quite dark, for the style. The color of minced meat with a decent-sized white head.

This is a pumpkin spice ale, with the emphasis on the spice. Its smells VERY thick and clovey. The thickness is a akin to opening up a jar of pumpkin pie spice, holding it right up to your nose, and then taking a big snort. It's a nice smell, really, but the intensity is a bit much to bear and blots all the rest of the beeriness.

Tastes pretty much like it smells: a whole lot of pumpkin pie spice, not that much actual pumpkin. Big cloves, white pepper, cinnamon, and nutmeg against a malt background of toffee and biscuit. Intense and not unpleasant, but not as balanced or quaffable as a top-tier pumpkin beer.

Poured from a brown twist off into a pub glass.
Off the pour a soft sudsy off white 1'' head forms up, somwhat slow to recede. Leaving a thin cap and nice collar of retention. Thin slick spotty lace.
Color is an orange brown glowing brightly held up to light, transparent filtered.

Aroma is mostly malt meets pumpkin pie spice and a bit of yeasty bread.

Creamy mouthfeel with subdued carbonation. This has terrific mouthfeel to it.
Taste is somewhat sweet and caramel filled upfront with malt coming in huge. Pumpkin flavors throughout. A bit too much nutmeg flavor creating a spice overload midway through. Hops bittering up a bit taking away the undesirable spice flavors.

A decent take on the style, but just a bit of overwhelming nutmeg creating some not so pleasant flavors.

A: Ahh, tis autumn. This ale is a sunset amber hue. The one inch of head recedes very quickly, leaving virtually no lacing whatsoever.

S: Cinnamon, nutmeg, raisin bread, sweet malt

T: An ok tasting brew, with autumn spices very evident throughout. There is not a sturdy enough malt backbone to support this heavily spiced beer. I do appreciate that the cinnamon, nutmeg, etc. flavors taste authentic, as I really don't care for beers that take the "natural flavors" route.

M: Relatively thin bodied with a lower than average carbonation level.

D: An ok beer, but not something I would buy.

My 2nd pumpkin ale of the season. I'm not really fond of the style.

But as dictated, by style:

[L] This one pours out a honey-colored, golden/amber hue with a fizzy head that is off-white. Pretty calm looking, with a few bubbles making their way up.

[S] I could pickup on the smell from quite a few inches away. I imagine that by style, out of a vast variety, this is pretty spot-on. Nutmeg, pie crust, cinnamon, pumpkin puree; with a mental pickup on some whipped cream. Possibly some grain in the back.

[T] Spices are upfront. Nutmeg probably most prominent. Apparently, the base is an amber-ale, showing hoppy/caramel notes that meld with the pumpkin pretty well. Good for what it is.

[F] Very thin feel, with a chalky dry finish, due to spice. Slight bite. Smooth on the palate for the most.

[D] Though I find this to be on the higher end of the spectrum for this style, I could only do 3 or so before the spice and burps turn my stomach.

Everytime I grab a pumpkin beer, I try to like it; I really do. But again, pales, lagers, milds, and ambers don't seem to really hold up as bases for the amount of character the spices usually impart. Porters, stouts, and darker bases are what I would seek out in this department. Don't think I've really heard of any highly hopped "Pumpkin IPAs", though. Floral/citrus hops would be an interesting pair with a dry spice.

This just arrived this past Friday so it's the time to try it at its freshest. It pours a very bright and vibrant burnt orange in color with a light white lacing around the glass. Despite the lack of head it still appears to be well carbonated. The aromas consist of interesting spice with slight natural pumpkin. For a pumpkin ale, it's kind of mellow. It isn't overboard on the cinnamon or nutmeg at all. The flavors are interesting. To me it tastes like squash with cinnamon. Interesting to say the least. I didn't expect to pickup a different gourd. The more I sip it the more squash I get. It's pretty decent though. Overall it's better than alot of pumpkins out there but I wouldn't necessarily buy a six pack. It's worth a try if you like the style.

A- This beer has a clear reddish-brown body with a thin tan creamy head that last a bit and a sea of strong carbonation.
S- This beer has a soft dry caramel malt note with a softer dry spice note.
T- The soft sweetness mixes with a soft spice heat that has a slight banana quality. It finishes with a light bitterness from hops that grows just a bit as the beer open ups.
M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a soft fizz.
D- This beer has a soft malt and spice flavor that is a bit odd together but to subtle to really taste.

Pours a decent deep orange-amber with very little head and just a slight bit of nice lacing. Scent is a bit of sweet malt with a bit of pumpkin spice, but very little deep aroma overall. Nice flavor with some decent malt and hints of spice, but nothing big. Went down fairly smooth, especially for being over 7%. An alright pumpkin ale, but nothing great.

Thanks to Dave for this bottle. Had it on 10/28, from notes.

Pours bronze with an off white head into my tulip. Good retention and spotty lacing.

Smells hearty. Vibrant spices of the usual variety over caramel malts and a good pumpkin presence. Nuttiness is present as well.

Taste has a moderate spice that isn't too overpowering which is good in my book. Hey- the base beer here isn't too bad. Although, the after taste leaves a weird spiciness-metallic flavor on the palate. Off-putting to say the least.

This beer is a bit over-carbonated, but has a pretty good malt backbone to stand up to all the spices. Nice to try but I'm not a fan of pumpkin beers and I struggled to take down the bottle. Just not interesting to me (note my bias).

12 oz. bottle poured into a Bells tulip

It pours a deep amber, dark copper with a really head that barely even forms before dying. No lacing a tall.

The aroma is pretty light on the pumpkin pie spices, pretty malty with some distinct caramel coming through. A little bit of alcohol is detected when the beer warms.

Flavor-wise, the spicing is one again pretty light and a sweet caramel malts stick out. The finish has kind of a sharp metallic thing to it which isn't pleasant. The overall flavor profile is pretty simplistic and straightforward. The body is medium/full and the carb level is a little too high for my liking.
