Picked up a single 12oz of this new release brew from Famous Liquors in Lombard, IL.

A: Pours a dark orangy amber color with a half finger of just off white head that settles down to almost zero bubbles but laces as it goes down.

S: Smells to me like mainly pumpkin and oranges, as well as a pleasant balance of cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar

T: Tastes similar to the smell, except with no oranges. Mainly pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar. There's a little lager beer type flavor in there with some metallic notes also, but not horribly so. It would be better had those flavors not been there though.

M: Mouthfeel on this is pretty good, with a higher amount of carbonation, but no too much. The carbonation actually helps this be smooth and close to creamy.

D: Pretty drinkable as there's no alcohol flavor, the taste is above average, but nothing here really blows me away and makes me yearn after more and more.

Clear darkly rustic amber with a small capping of off-white foam that sits foamy & softly and disappears thusly as so. A few thicker strings and some spots of lace stick to the glass.

Aroma is quite nice with a nice pie crust element of graham cracker and cream sit in nicely with a nosey touch of baked pumpkin bread with pinches of cinnamon and nutmeg.

Taste is mildly tangy of some chewy breadish malt laced with some lighter factions of the pumpkin that sits and sips quite close to a Doppelbock. Some notions of cream sink into the middle with its malt and pumpkin flavors as pie crust dusts off the finish with a light featheryness that lends a simple float into hinted cookie and bread spices of cinnamon, vanilla, and nutmeg.

The body has a nice crisp grab to it while maintaining a fairly solid maltyness that secures a bold mediumness as it balances the flavors out for a well developed drinking experience.

Once it warms up some it gets quite nice and certain complexities arise towards the backend. A very nice Autumn treat by Tyranena.

appearance: served in a tyranena imperial pint glass, nice dark copper/amber body with a nice creamy beige crest

smell: adequately spiced - ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg. pumpkin pie, light herbal hops, nutty caramel body

taste: very drinkable and quite balanced - nice pumpkin pie flavor profile with very nicely executed spicing - ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and clove. bready and malty with a nice hop compliment. as expected, a winner from tyranena and one of the better pumpkin ales out there

mouthfeel: very nice, smooth and crisp, creamy finish

drinkability: good

Poured from a 12oz bottle into an imperial pint. Thanks to HeatherAnn for the assist!

Bottled on 14SEP09

A: Pours an absolutely clear, brownish orange (pumpkin!) with one finger of beige colored head that recedes quickly, but leaves a fair amount of lace in the glass.

S: Smells like the kitchen when your aunt is making a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving and she decides that, this year, she's going to make it from scratch with all natural ingredients and spices. Not from a can.

T: Tastes like above. Nutmeg, ginger, and allspice are at the forefront with a little fresh cinnamon stick, freshly toasted pumpkin seeds, white pepper, and clove. Heather noticed a spicy tobacco flavor in the finish.

M: Full on the tongue with a really neat spicy/peppery bite that keeps any potential over sweetness in check. Dry peppery finish lasts forever.

D: I was amazed at how quickly my glass emptied itself. This is a fantastic Pumpkin beer. Very earthy and natural tasting.

Nice; really nice. I've never been a pumpkin pie fan and yet I loved this beer. It's a pretty pour, with a nice head that dissipates fairly rapidly. Taste is spice and pumpkin, with nothing over the top. It's slightly sweet and the weight is neither heavy nor light; it's right in the middle. It's very easy drinking and though I have to be in the mood for a fruit/vegetable beer, I could down quite a few glasses of this. Nicely done!

I've been dreaming of this beer since I first heard about this summer. I sampled it at the GLBF and loved it. For this review I have a bottle to sample.

Poured into my pint glass the beer is dark orange with hints of red and brown. A half inch of beige head rest on top. A tiny bit of lace tries to stick to my glass but, quickly dissapears. The aroma is pumpkin with moderate nutmeg and clove. It has a nice sweet grain hint to it as well. Not over the top at all. Just pleasant pumpkin spice. The flavor is spot on for this style. Just the right amount of pumpkin flavor and spice. A touch of pepper is in there as well. Toasted pumkin seeds can be picked up in the finish. Medium body with plenty of carbonation. Overall this is one of the better pumpkin beers Ive sampled. It won't unseat "the king" but, it steps into the top five for me in this style. Tyranena managed to meet my high expectations with another fine brew.
