12oz bottle care of Kegatron dibbling into the dusty stash of bottles circa 2009. Poured into a snifter, the brew appears black in color with a rich firm tan cap 2 fingers strong. The cap collapses to a thin film with a full wall of lace hanging to the walls.
The aroma is slightly dusty almost with a scent of day old coffee. It is roasty and earthen with notes of chocolate, ash and anise before the tangy fruity tones of cherry come into play. As more sniffs go into the nostrils, I pick up a bit of milky chocolate sweetness.
The flavor reiterates the aromatics with more focus on chocolate and less on roast/coffee. The alcohol and cherry blends into something that is vaguely medicinal before getting bitter and minorly herbal with a notion of hops. The aftertaste is quite earthen and dusty.
This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonstion. Overall a solid brew with nuance of cherry. It kinda reminds me of a souped up milk stout but slightly oxidized and starting to show its age. Getting a chance to try this one was greatly appreciated Heath, thanks again!

A- Pours a thickish dark brown/black with a thin ring of a tan head at the top, dissipates quickly. No lacing to be seen.
S- Cocoa-y.
T- Chocolate, malt. Slightly acidic. I think the cherry was lost somewhere in space and time during storage.
MF- Creamy, not a lotta carbonation.
O/D- I like it. It's easy to drink, the alcohol is hidden well. A fairly simple porter, but one that I enjoy. Held onto for me by the boyfren, so that makes it more special.

12oz bottled poured into a large snifter. Pour is dark, dark brown with a mocha head. The head is quite small and last for mere seconds before disappearing into a thin ring around the glass. No lacing on the sides of the glass.
Nose is mild but pleasant. Roasted malts and grains characteristics dominate from the porter. These give way to nice caramel and, toffee and molasses notes. This is teamed up with a nice sweetness, presumably do to the cherries.
Taste is quite weak, unfortunately. Faint fruitiness is prominent. Caramel, toasted grains and the slightest, faintest glimmer of what I think are cherry flavors. Chocolate presents itself as well.
Mouthfeel is incredibly thin and lackluster. Slightly creamy with light carbonation. Light to medium bodied. Alcohol remains hidden at least...

Tyranena's Paradise by the Dashboard Light Doubly Blessed Cherry Porter has a long name, but pours up with a tight, two-fingered light brown-tawny colored head that lingers above the the nearly opaque dark brown-reddish black body. The roasty malty aroma is a bit subdued at first, but becomes more apparent as it warms giving off notes of burnt caramel, dark chocolate, and roasted coffee. The underlying fruitiness is reminiscent of dark tart cherries, black currants along with some black fig notes. Hints of blackstrap molasses, muscavado suger, and licorice along with some cloaked alcohol add to the overall complexity. The flavor starts off with some subtle fruitiness and a low sweetness that gains momentum before it's consumed by the darkness & bitterness which deliver a slightly acrid, bittersweet, toasty finish. This medium bodied specialty porter is a bit lackluster in the mouthfeel and seems a little chalky on the palate with some distracting dark roasty astringency. However, it delivers on the overall character by being different & interesting to quaff. Here's to the brewers at Tyranena and their sheer audaciousness.

A- Dark brown borderling black. Good head retention and some lacing.
S- Smell is semi-muted. Some whiffs of chocolate and cherries.
T- Very good robust porter up front. Roasted malts. Only hints of cherries which were more pronounced with the bottle I had last summer. Holding up well overall.
M- Thicker, syrupy beer. Heavy mouthfeel. Good carbonation.
D/O- A max of 2 is what I'd want to take down in a night. This beer tasted better overall than 6 months ago albeit with the less prominent cherries. Would definately recommend to a porter fan. Yaaay Tyranena! Have one left...may see what the futures hold for it.

Poured into a Bruery tulip. Beer is black with a thin broken halo of a head, low carbonation and no lacing.
Aroma is mild, a little roast, perhaps a little cherry.
Beer is thin and has a roasty end with minimal cherry at the corners of this one. It's an oddity for sure. I think the absence of forward flavors is a terrible oversight. Some more thickness, perhaps a little more sweetness could do this beer a lot of favors. Nothing special, moving on.

This beer pours a deep black color with a tan head that was very thin and didnt last long. The aroma of this beer is of roasted malt, booze, and a hint of cherries. The taste is of roasted malt, and is yet blanaced with a smooth flavor. There is a slight boozy flavor. Im not picking up to much on the cherries. The mouthfeel is very thick, and has a faint fizzy side. Overall its a sipping beer.

Pours a deep reddish-brown with a very minimal auburn head. Seems a bit flat.
Aroma contains strong fruit and slight booziness along with the nutty porter smell and an interesting sweet, milky smell I'd associate more with a sweet stout.
Taste is also more akin to a milk stout than porter, very sweet/smooth with faint vanilla and no bitterness. The chocolate is sweet rather than strongly roasted, and a mild nutty/toffee comes through as well.
It's very easy and drinkable, with a pleasant lingering dark cherry aftertaste. One significant drawback is its lack of carbonation dulling the flavor slightly; this is a retired beer so I should probably check the freshness date (if there is one).
All in all this isn't something I'd drink on regular basis, but it would make for a nice treat from time to time. Its sweetness would pair it well with a piece of cake or pie.

Served in a Dogfish Head snifter.
Thanks to cptnspeed1 for this bottle!
Bottled on 2/15/09. Who doesn't love Meatloaf references with their beer? This one pours a murky black-brown topped by only a hint of a head (only some minor tufts of dirty ecru bubbles). The nose comprises chocolate-covered cherries, roasted malts, figs, and some butterscotch. The taste finds the cherries abandoning their formerly sweet housing, opting instead for a strangely medicinal flavoring. Some bits o' roasted malts and cocoa find their way in as well, but even combined they cannot overcome the medicinal character. The body is a straight medium with a light moderate carbonation. Overall, I think age may not have been too kind to this brew, with the cherry flavor really seeming to have degraded. Beyond that, though, this was a pretty tasty porter.

A- Body is a nearly opaque dark brown hue. Pours with a 2-3 finger light brown head which eventually fades completely- no traces of lacing are left behind in the glass.
S- Chocholate, cherry, and cherry pits all blend nicely together up front. Deep roasted malt aromas loom in the background at the back of the nose.
T-Mild flavor upfront consisting of cherry juice with a roasted malt backbone. Both flavors come through more for the finish with the cherry becoming slightly more dominant. Cherry lingers with a hint of roasted malt bitterness as well as a hint of alcohol. The flavor is interesting yes, but a bit odd.
M-Medium to high carbonation with a moderate to heavy weight body that is slightly syrupy.
D- This is an interesting brew overall. Im enjoying it more as I finish it-but this 12 oz bottle has been open for awhile this evening. More of a novelty brew than one I would revisit.

Shout out to Kegatron. Poured into a snifter at about 50 degrees. Despite my slow pour, the head was a massive four finger widths, which irked me a bit.
The body is quite black, and is topped off by a medium tan head with medium sized bubbles. I think there is too much head for the style honestly. Good lacing and good head retention.
Smells quite good, brownies with cherrys and hints of vanilla. Not too complex, but nice.
Lots of chocolate cake up front and a little bit of roastyness, vanilla and finally a cherry twang. The cherry could be a little bit more in the background to make it taste a bit better.
Mouthfeel is a little bit too "open", I feel like it should be creamier or something. Hard to put my finger on it but it feels a little bit grainy.
Drinks well overall, and I'm enjoying this. I think if the cherry was a little more in the background I'd like it a good deal more, that and if the mouthfeel felt a bit better. Still, worthy of seeking out and trying!
