Looks like a cloudy glass of Single Malt Scotch. Very earthy aromas and a mild, but lingering, taste. Slight smoke hints and mild malts hide the 7.7% ABV. A pretty tasty effort from Tyranena. I still like Rocky's Revenge better, but certainly a good brew from Lake Mills, WI.

Pours a ruby caramel color with a healthy mound of lemon-tinted froth with excellent retention. Aroma smells of brown sugar, caramel, and a robust nutty aroma with a hint of milk chocolate--terrific complexity. Flavor tastes of maple syrup and toasted nuts with a healthy dose of hops to balance. The hops tend toward Cascade, with appreciable grapefruit manifesting as the beer warms. Malt and bitterness vacillate in the middle, each attempting to muscle out the other before eventually reaching a respectable detente. Roasted notes and dark chocolate come through in the finish, and a stickiness lingers on the lips after imbibing. Lively carbonation lends a creamy texture that helps mollify the bold flavor profile.
This is a complex and flavorful brew that extends itself well beyond your archetypal scotch ale. The synergy could be slightly better, but I must give it a nod for the slightly chocolately, nutty finish, which I found to be especially pleasing.

This beer was poured out of a bottle and into a pint glass. It had a dark amber colour to it; almost caramel. Ale had a sweet malt nose with hints of oak and scotch. It also had a slight scotch taste to it, along with malts and a very slight roasted taste, but not by much. No significant lingering flavours or after tastes.
Would I buy this beer again? Maybe.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Imperial Pint.
Appearance: Dark reddish-orange with thin, sustained, off-white head.
Smell: Peat, toffee and dark fruit. Simple but nice.
Taste: Along with the light peat, there are fruity and spicy notes that are almost Belgian-like. Lots of toffee, some nuttiness, and a finish that includes some floral hops, but remains mostly sweet.
Feel: Medium-full body with moderately low carbonation. Finish is not as dry as I would prefer.
Overall: A very tasty, and fairly big, everyday Scotch Ale. If the finish dried up a little more and played against the core sweetness, this would be sublime.
